Branding and design for a new coffeehouse and gelateria.

What were your goals for this project?

To have a branding concept designed for the new coffee shop.

How did you select this vendor?

Searched the internet for design work. Found them on dribble.com

Describe the project in detail.

We submitted a name to Forefathers and they came up with a designed logo/brand concept for the coffeeshop including artwork, full mockup and icon for the new coffee shop.

What was the team composition?

There were three guys involved. They live in different places. One was main designer and one was the major point of communication. Not sure what the third person was responsible for. Maybe an investor?

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately no. The artwork was good...but the most prominent element was plagiarized.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Terrible. They made the artwork and submitted it to us. When we asked for the design to be edited they told us "No" and that it would grow on us.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to ignore you after taking your money while leaving you with an unusable product.

Are there any areas for improvement?

1. These guys are more concerned about
2. telling you how awesome their designs are regardless if you like it or not
3. taking your hard earned money and
4. displaying your name, brand and business concepts on social media prematurely RATHER than taking care of you and helping your business.

Forefathers took advantage of our small business.

In late 2017 we hired Forefathers to design a new brand concept for our coffee shop. They published unfinished work, with our name and business concept WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION here on Dribble, on instagram and elsewhere well before the project was complete.

Another company in the US saw Forefather's posts and trademarked our name in the coffee industry before we even got the finished work from Forefathers.

Unfortunately we paid Forefathers before we got the legal "cease and desist" notice from the other company. Upon trying to contact forefathers on several platforms, to ask for help, they ignored us completely and we had to scrap the design and eat the $4,500 they charged us.

We strongly encourage small businesses to stay away from Forefathers as they are prideful, deceitful, reckless and uncaring...or at least they were with us.
