Forcebuilders, founded by Josh and Dom, has been an essential partner in the transformation of our technology department over the past year. Josh serves as our Software Architect, and Dom acts as both Product and Project Manager. Together, they have provided end-to-end leadership across strategy, execution, and team development. Their work began by helping secure budgetary approval for our initiatives and crafting a clear, compelling product development roadmap that was successfully presented to executive leadership. Their ability to align technical vision with business priorities has been critical to building trust and momentum within the organization.
In addition to strategic guidance, Forcebuilders played a hands-on role in scaling our development capabilities. They assisted in recruiting and onboarding a well-rounded team that now includes an in-house Scrum Master, product support personnel, domestic and offshore software developers, QA testers, UI/UX designers, and production support. Their leadership has directly contributed to the achievement of major milestones, streamlined operations, and a renewed sense of confidence from executive management in our long-term vision. What I found most impressive and unique about Forcebuilders was their ability to rapidly immerse themselves in an industry that was entirely new to them. Prior to this project, they had no direct background in our space, yet within a remarkably short timeframe, they became true subject matter experts. They proactively attended vendor trainings, industry trade shows, and held in-depth meetings with our internal teams to accelerate their learning. By the end of the project, their understanding of our systems and industry nuances rivaled—if not exceeded—that of many long-time professionals in the field.
What truly set them apart, though, was their genuine commitment to our success. This wasn’t just another project to them—they were fully vested in our goals, our challenges, and our outcomes. Their dedication drove not only the project forward, but elevated the performance and focus of everyone around them, including myself. They challenged us to think more strategically, act more decisively, and ultimately helped the team achieve results we’re extremely proud of.
Are there any areas for improvement or something ForceBuilders could have done differently?
The only critique I have of Forcebuilders—if it can even be called that—is that they continually reminded me that their goal was to make themselves replaceable. From the start, they emphasized the importance of building a self-sufficient internal team, and they took deliberate steps to ensure we’d be able to stand on our own. They were deeply involved in the hiring process, helping to vet and interview candidates, and often pointed out when a candidate might be capable of doing the job as written, but not necessarily with the same efficiency or long-term value as they themselves had demonstrated.
Initially, I worried that this cautious approach might slow us down or prevent us from hiring capable talent. But in time, I realized they were right. Their recommendations weren’t about protecting their own role—they were about protecting our future success. By holding out for candidates with strengths that weren’t immediately obvious on paper but became critical in practice, we ultimately built a stronger, more capable team. Their insights helped us avoid costly missteps and ensured we onboarded individuals who could truly thrive with minimal ramp-up. That kind of long-term thinking and honesty is rare, and it made all the difference.
