I’m the director of sales and marketing for a large crab importing company. We import pasteurized crab meat from Asia and South America and sell it in the US retail and food service markets.

What challenge were you trying to address with Flylight Media, Inc.?

We were looking for a company with experience with website development to help us develop our website. We also were looking for a local company, so we hired Flylight Media.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Flylight Media designed and developed our website from scratch. Their scope included some backend development and custom coding work, and they also showed us how to manage the site after launching it. Throughout the process, I worked closely with them to provide them with information, photographs, and copy to populate the website with content.

Through our website, we provide customized POS information like sales sheets and product detail sheets with specifications and product features. Additionally, Flylight Media built a feature where customers can upload their logos and create customized POS information for their sales team to use.

Moreover, we provide users with monthly updates on market conditions that Flylight Media helped us upload. The rest of the site consists of static information and resources that we tweak and update as necessary, such as recipes and other things like that.

What is the team composition?

We worked with three core people from Flylight Media who managed different parts of our project. Additionally, their president oversaw their work and was part of our update meetings.

How did you come to work with Flylight Media, Inc.?

I found them, reached out to them, and discovered they had web development and brand strategy capabilities, which we thought to be very important. After I reached out to them, their president got back to me, and we clicked personally. He seemed to be very experienced in working with companies like ours.

During a few phone conversations, we talked about our timing, needs, and goals, as well as about their capabilities and resources. Additionally, they were located close to our offices, so we were able to meet in person and get a feel of their team. We both were comfortable with each other, so we started working together.

We spent around $70,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in October 2021, and the site went live in April 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since our website went live, we’ve seen a lot of activity, especially when we do Facebook postings that link people back to our site. Still, Flylight media has helped us achieve our main goal, which was to have a professional-looking and impressive site so that we could go after large retailers, food services, and restaurant chains. Thanks to this site, we’re now chasing after qualified leads.

How did Flylight Media, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Flylight media was very good in terms of communication, constantly updating us on our standing informational needs. As for budget management, whenever there was an overrun, they clearly laid it out to get our approval before they proceeded.

They used ClickUp to collaborate with us and monitor the project. Through this tool, we reviewed the layout and functionality they proposed for the site, and we provided them with feedback; it was a good collaboration. We also used Google Analytics to track results. Additionally, we had in-person meetings when needed and communicated via email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Flylight Media’s biggest strengths were their creativity and customization skills. They were very good at bringing insights from their previous experiences into our site’s designs and functionality. Still, they also understood that our industry was unique, so they were willing to customize their approach.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We were delighted with our collaboration with Flylight Media.

Flylight Media can be a great partner who can do big things for you while maintaining an intimate and small relationship with you. If you’re looking for that experience, work with them.

We hired Flylight Media to update our current website. The existing website was outdated and not user friendly. It were looking to have them develop a more visually pleasing and customer friendly platform.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We looked for US based vendors that could provide us with a unique design. We received proposals from 4 different vendors but ultimately went with Flylight after reviewing past projects and speaking directly with the team.

After an initial meeting to discuss our overall goals and design ideas Flylight Media provided us with a new logo, new designs, color schemes, fonts, etc for our web page. As we worked through each step and made decisions we met virtually with team members to discuss our continued vision and needs.

In total, we worked with 6 people from the vendor's team. These included the founders, project manager, creative team and developers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Their design was amazing. Our IT team was able to integrate the new design easily. Users have communicated that the site is more user-friendly and is easier to navigate.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their team was easy to communicate with. They provided clear milestones and made every effort to work with our team to meet those goals.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This was a very collaborative experience for us. We felt like the team at Flylight Media, Inc. really listened and made every effort to deliver the project we could only imagine. Working with Flylight Media was like working with an in house team. It was very comfortable and we never felt like we were just another project to them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Things could always be done faster. Any delays in delivery were just as much our fault as any fault of theirs. Overall, we were more than happy with our experience.

The Olympia Companies have owned and operated hotels for over 50 years. With a current portfolio of 24 properties nationwide, Olympia Hotel Management operates a wide range of property types from small budget hotels to 4-Diamond boutique independent properties. In recent years, Olympia has established a niche in campus hospitality which is best reflected in 3 projects opened in 2013 at University of Chicago (Hyatt Place), Duke University (Hilton Garden Inn), and Rollins College (The Alfond Inn, a boutique independent). Flylight Media presented to a board of directors that someone from our team was a member. We were impressed by their expertise and their values and services aligned with our needs.

Goals were established and work began immediately to meet those goals. his included new website design for some to SEO work, Google Ads, backlinking, etc.

Our hotel's consistently perform above industry standards for cost per click, click through rate, and return on ad spend. If at any point one of our KPI's is starting to slip, immediate action is taken to improve.

Our website looks amazing! We have gotten tons of positive feedback. We have also had a tangible benefit in terms of leads and our SEO strategy has worked very well achieving a significant improvement in key words rankings

Flylight has alwas been easy to communicate with. Not one email or call goes un answered. We have used phone calls, messages through Whats App, Google Drive and emails as the main communication tools

The quality of the work on how easy it is to communicate with them. We have also had multiple people in the organization reaching out with additional/side projects that they have not hesitated to happily take on without neglecting our original scope.

They stuck to the timeline drafted and when changes needed to be made they were mostly from our side
