While their adaptability throughout the project was excellent, a more detailed exploration of potential challenges or resource bottlenecks at the outset could have further streamlined the execution. This would enhance efficiency and ensure even tighter alignment between expectations and outcomes. However, their ability to pivot and address any mid-project adjustments effectively made up for this. Overall, it's a minor point in an otherwise excellent collaboration.

• Prototype initial game concept
• Pick one or two to develop demos for using Unity, Unreal or Godot (most of the work I do is in 2d)
• Deploy on PC, Mac, Android, iOS (some combination of the four)

• Milestones set along the way for the 4 key parts: prototyping, development of demo, builds for various platforms and then finally delivery. I synced with the team multiple times a week (depending on my schedule) and received updates + builds that allowed us to test the progress and give feedback.

Project Management was good. Delivery is on time and they are very flexible in terms of scope creep or direction changes (which can happen a lot with games as they are being developed and the core game mechanics are being figured out, tweaked, etc). I value the flexibility greatly!

I'm the VP of Products for a sports analytics company.

We enlisted FiveRivers to be our software development arm. They are more like full-time employees than contractors. We needed to build a mobile app and backend infrastructure from the ground up. We needed to get to market quickly in the beginning, but we also needed it to be scalable for long-term growth. We needed to deliver an amazing customer experience build provide deep analytics for athlete performance and progress.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We knew them from working with them successfully on previous projects at other companies. We initially met them through a referral. We selected them because we knew we would have a great partner who would be flexible and deliver great results.

They architected native mobile apps for both iOS and Android, as well as the backend infrastructure on AWS. This included EC2, RDS, AWS Route 53, Cloud Formation, CloudFront, EBS, S3, Rekognition, SNS, SQS. We worked together through the architecture/design and continue to work in an Agile methodology.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We've had flexible staffing with as few as 5 team members and as many as 15. This includes project managers, UI designers, multiple levels of developers, and QA.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to launch the initial release on time and have continued releases every 2 weeks through a CI/CD process. The work is high quality and in keeping with Agile tenants, the FiveRivers team has been very flexible in responding to the changing needs of the business.

We have a dedicated project manager, who is outstanding and has been on the project for years. She ensures we are in continuous alignment with the development team. We have multiple checkpoint meetings per week and have a demo to the company every two weeks. We communicate primarily through Jira, WhatsApp and email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We have direct access to the CEO and CTO of the company, both of whom act as trusted advisers. The CTO acts as our virtual CTO. They have made a huge difference in our ability to make engineering decisions that impact our success.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

While the quality and timeliness of the work is great, in our efforts to move quickly we could all do a better job on documentation and we're working through this.

I’m the chief strategy officer at an AI and blockchain airspace system company. I oversee various functions in terms of HR operations, business development, and strategy.

We’ve hired FiveRivers to outsource some of our development work. They essentially provide us with offshore development services. Meanwhile, the reason our company has chosen to hire offshore teams is that they’re more competitive than hiring someone locally.

What was the scope of their involvement?

FiveRivers has helped us build our platform and develop our website. The planning and road mapping are done within our company. Then, our team shares the requirements with FiveRivers. A project manager on their end works closely with our own project manager. 

We develop all user stories and send them to FiveRivers to execute. From there, their resources develop the requirements. For our website, they do everything from setting up its security features to actually developing it. On top of that, they’re responsible for completing the builds for our software and apps. 

In terms of goals, we want error-free development services. We also need FiveRivers to understand the needs of our business while executing projects in a timely manner. The technologies they use include C++ and Unity.

What is the team composition?

Around 10 people work with us, including project managers and developers. Harris (Senior Project Manager) is our main point of contact.

We’ve had a great experience with FiveRivers. They’re timely and responsive. The team offers a lot of flexibility to accommodate our needs. For instance, if we need something at the last minute, additional people from their team will help us. If the situation calls for the usage of a specialized tool, they’ll hire people with that kind of specialized training. Overall, we’ve had a great partnership with them.

How did FiveRivers Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

FiveRivers can work around our tight deadlines, and their communication is good. We mainly have conversations through WhatsApp and use different software tools such as Teams and Discord. To manage our projects, we use Jira.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a truly collaborative team. It doesn’t feel like we’re two separate teams. Rather, we’re one big team working together. On top of that, their members are open to feedback; their timely delivery is also truly great. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They sometimes don’t have the exact skill sets we need, especially since we do blockchain work. As a result, we need them to hire resources with those specific skill sets. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Explain the project clearly to FiveRivers — that goes a long way. When you kick off the engagement, spend time with them. Set up systems and explain the project in depth.

As a new web3 project, we had a range of dev services that we wanted to execute on, including website development, software development, blockchain / smart contract development, wallet integrations, etc. As our team fleshed out the product roadmap and strategy, we worked closely with the FRT team on the project steps, discussing timelines and deliverables for each roadmap item.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

FiveRivers Technologies has assembled a talented team that is very well-rounded and takes a holistic approach to delivering items for the project. Since we have started working with the FRT team, they have helped us develop and stand up our main website and multiple landing pages, as well as help build, test, and ship our initial product functionalities.

We worked with the FRT team early on in the project, so these deliverables were inclusive of R&D, software and blockchain dev work, UX/UI support, and QA. The team also provides ongoing work in these areas as new features and milestones are added to the roadmap and project plan. The team has always been accommodating and flexible to ensure the project's priorities were in order, even if that meant working with incredibly fast timelines.

From the onset, our goal has been to quickly develop and launch our platform, including many features and functionalities that are on chain. FRT worked with us to tackle these quick turnarounds, and collaborated on many deliverables in parallel so project timelines were met.

The FRT is incredibly responsive, and has always been happy to communicate through whichever forum works best for the team. This has included email, discord, and various messaging / chat apps. FRT also provides complete transparency with frequent progress updates, and tracks all project items in jira so everyone stays on the same page.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We have been incredibly impressed with their team's approach to dev work and support. As an example, while we work on specific deliverables and milestones with FRT, on their own volition, the FRT team researches areas of interest for the project, to not only acquire more knowledge about the space, but to ensure strategic alignment. They also proactively provide suggestions and improvements, and are very collaborative with everyone on the team!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At times, we have needed dev services in specific areas that the FRT team did not at that moment have resources to support. However, the FRT team worked with us to onboard resources needed in a timely manner.
