BECOMING A DIGITAL PARTNER Image

BECOMING A DIGITAL PARTNER

How did Fatfish, a small team based in Malcha Technology Park in Jerusalem, end up partnering with Tony Robbins in his first live Event in Israel?

Who is Fatfish?

We at Fatfish have been inspired by Tony Robbins since our humble beginnings in 2005. Since then we have been dreaming big, which is admirable, but as Tony puts its, ‘the path to success is to take massive, determined action”. With

this in mind, we set out to work diligently day in day out, with each and every project we do. Because we know our quality of work should do the talking.

We also want to be continuously improving, sharing knowledge both in house and to the open source community we are a part of. Always looking to how we can advance in technology and services to our client, we have built up to international brands such as Motorola, Land Rover and now proud to add Tony Robbins to that list.

Our giant within has awoken.

How did we connect with Tony?

As is often the case in life, it is who you know more than what you know. As we didn’t know Tony before we partnered up, how did we do it?

Another Tony quote, “You become what you do most of the time”, so with diligent hard work, we had built a name for ourselves with production company sabrespro on several projects prior, including Jamiroquai and Chris Rock. These projects at the time were challenging, having several setbacks and redesigns, but as we stayed persistence, determined to deliver the clients vision for the website we had proven ourselves to deliver quality work and at reasonable cost, but more than that, we connected with our client on a personal level, so when they wanted a website built, they thought Fatfish.

How the website was built?

After discussions with the client and as time was a crucial factor here, we agreed on using wordpress, which would quickly deliver the website and give the client immediate access to add content. In fact, the website was up and running in a week, with tickets selling out in hours.

As most will know, WordPress is easy to use and difficult to master and our expert developers were able to swiftly provide a base template for the client to see, agree, amend and append.

We have experience will a host of clients, all with different needs, and depending on these needs we can offer the best solution. We also have drupal experts, as well as building web or mobile native applications, see our portfolio here.

If you feel inspired by Tony Robbins and have a website or app that you want to build or take to the next level feel free to reach out to us to discuss options and let us know what is your favorite Tony Robbins quote?

MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, ONE WEBSITE AT A TIME. Image

MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, ONE WEBSITE AT A TIME.

We are proud to announce the launch of the new and improved website for The Feuerstein Institute, an international educational, clinical and research center focused on teaching people how to think, learn and better function.

The Institute was founded by Professor Reuven Feuerstein, as he continued to develop his world-renowned technique growing it to an Internationally acclaimed status with hundreds of practitioners and

centers around the world. Patients and academics fly in from all over the world to meet experts, the foremost now being Dr. Rafael Feuerstein.

At the location of their headquarters, Israel has greatly benefited from the amazing work the Feuerstein Institute has done with anyone with learning difficulties or special needs, giving them the tools to reach their full potential.

To illustrate, with the Feuerstein Institute’s assistance, Ethiopian immigrants have become integrated into natural and medical sciences studies at a rate of twice their ratio in the general population, and in law studies at a rate of 6.5 times their ratio. The program is implemented with great success at a number of higher education institutions across Israel, including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Bar Ilan University, and Ariel University.

Highlights of the project were:

  • Build LMS - online store to access learning material to become a certified practitioner
  • Search database to find users nearest center and practitioner
  • Be fully accessibility compliant
  • To be built with Wordpress Responsive and contemporary design
  • Maintain and improve SEO.

The key to delivering a successful project lies in two simple areas.

The initial meeting where we outline what the client’s aims of the website are, the design, functionality, crucial components to how that organization operates. The better we understand your vision and lay out a clear and comprehensive action plan for the project, the better we deliver a website on time and within budget.

Once that has been established, close and swift communication is needed to get approval for work completed, fix bugs and keeping the client informed as to where the project is in the scheduled timeline.

As the main point of contact at the Feuerstein Institute, Uri Wertzberger stated:

“I was very impressed by your project manager. I felt she was always available, very organized, communicated clearly and helped resolve issues quickly. Perfect job!”

Launching the site is not the end of the project. We Host, maintain and continue to develop the site as it evolves to meet the future needs of the client. Fatfish is honored to have worked with the Feuerstein Institute and to have made a small, yet meaningful change to the world.

Although the project is ongoing, the engagement has been positive so far. fatFish has collaborated effectively with other teams and pays attention to feedback. Overall, they’re great partners to work with.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Van Leer Jerusalem Institute is an advanced studies center in the humanities and social sciences that is also deeply commited to influencing public discourse. I am the manager of the digital media division.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire fatFish?

Our website is very old and slow. We decided to rebuild it from the ground up. We wrote the initial specifications, our graphic designer worked on the design, and fatFish were hired to build the website itself.

What were your goals for this project?

An accesible, user-friendly and clear website, sharing information our the institute, daily events and online lectures, which also includes an option to purchase books from our academic press.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We sent the specification document to several companies that worked on projects for institutes similar to us, and chose fatFish because

  1. It was clear that they read and understood the specifications.
  2. They offered a robust and clear solution, and
  3. Their time-frame and cost were competitive.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The website will include:

  • Our events (3-5 per week)
  • Our publications (~300 in total), including an option to purchase them - Our video lectures (~2,500)
  • 2-3 new articles per week All of this in three languages (Hebrew, English, Arabic), although the latter two will not be mirror-images of the full Hebrew site, but rather tailor-made solutions per the requirements of different audiences. fatFish are working on a wordpress based solution, with lots of custom programming to make the design and functionality cover our needs.

What was the team composition?

fatFish provided a project manager (Jessica), as well as constant supervision with the company's manager (Tomer Fish), and a programmer (Lior).

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The project is still ongoing - it should be up and running by mid-April 2020.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We were in direct contact with the project manager, but when necessary, also spoke to the programmer - either in meeting or by phone. It was very effective, as well as pleasent.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

So far we are impressed with fatFish's effectiveness is translating the graphic design to a website. Our designer says he never saw such a direct and effective translation of still images to a breathing, working, website. They are also very attentive to our feedback, explaining the technical ramifications and designing exact solutions. They are also all such nice people, a pleasure to work with.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The only thing I can think of is that they don't want to bother us often, and so once proceeded before we have a chance to approve the direction taken. In this case, they back-tracked gracefully.
