One of the few vendors able to implement optical character recognition into the final deliverables, the team created a solution that’s withstood the test of time. The end product is fully functional, with very few minor bugs. Their proactivity attitude made the complex project possible.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m chief of product of a company that’s focused on shopping through gamification. Our main platform is on mobile, but we have web components as well. I’m in charge of managing the product and getting it into the marketplace.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Faba Technology?

We needed a partner to help us through the technical builds of both of our platforms.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They created native apps for both iOS and Android. Before we fully engaged them, they made sure to study and examine the code left behind by our previous partner, preparing themselves to adapt it into a fully-functioning product. We took up the design components of the build, and they handled the backend infrastructure and architecture. With their help, we launched our product in mid-October 2019.

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact was the CTO, who doubled as a business analyst and project manager. I don’t have direct communication with the developers.

How did you come to work with Faba Technology?

I first came across their profile on Google when we were looking to change our developers. We needed someone fast because we were two weeks out from launching our trial. The team would have to be completely switched over by then. We were impressed by their abilities to meet ambitious deadlines early on.

How much have you invested with them?

We negotiated on the price, arriving at an hourly rate of $15. In total, we spent between $10,000–$50,000 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted from September–October 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We had a hard time looking for a team that was able to incorporate optical character recognition (OCR) into our technology. That involves converting images into text. The margin of error can be complex to deal with. However, they managed to pull through and provide us with the first version of the OCR. To this date, we’re still running it without many hiccups. Of course, there were a few early bugs, but there haven’t been any major breakdowns.

How did Faba Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

I appreciate my direct relationship with the project manager. Without his abilities to work between his team and mine, there could’ve been communication and language barrier problems. Fortunately, communication went smoothly through the use of Slack and Jira. They took the initiative to provide us with advice and ideas.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They display proactivity and initiative, taking on the project as if it were their own. Even in areas that they weren’ sure about, they did their own research to find a solution.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything at the moment.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Keep your requirements clear and detailed so they’re able to work with your budget and time.

Faba Technology always provides an accurate quote and delivers on time. Since they’re quick to understand client requests, they’ve allowed the company to take a hands-off approach. While there are communication issues that come with the time difference, they’ve delivered satisfactory work.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CTO of an online e-commerce consulting agency. We also build apps.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Faba Technology?

We needed help with Shopify, particularly with its frontend as well as its page management. We originally hired them to build a Node.js application, but when they told us that they could develop our frontend, we had them shift their focus to the latter.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their scope of work includes building web pages, fixing bugs, and developing new site features. For the frontend, we use Webpack to compile JavaScript and CSS. They integrated ES6 and some plugins like Vue.js. Since it’s Shopify, their work also involved Liquid markup.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a project manager, a senior frontend developer, a junior developer, and financial managers. We communicate with two primary developers who allocate the work to the rest of their team.

How did you come to work with Faba Technology?

My wife’s co-worker had worked with Faba Technology and recommended them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2019 and the work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve always been able to produce accurate estimates and have delivered the work in a timely manner. Clients sometimes make revisions to their work, but that’s pretty normal. We’ve been satisfied with their work so far.

How did Faba Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Slack and JIRA as our main project management tools. They have access to our login information.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They understand our requests quickly; we don’t have to spend lots of time explaining concepts and tasks to them, which we appreciate.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The time difference poses a challenge in communication sometimes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

When we first started working with them, we thought their prices were slightly higher than average. I’d recommend clients to be wary of that.

The team delivered an attractive, high-quality platform that attracts both investors and new users. They were flexible, supportive, and responsive throughout the project, generating a platform that can grow with the business.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of product development for a bike sales platform.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Faba Technology?

We needed local resources who know about our software to build a good UI platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We already had a web platform, but it wasn’t working properly. Faba Technology maintained the current system and in the meantime, they built a new platform from scratch. It’s able to scale up and has more features than our original one. They provided design and development, then built for iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

In the first phase, there were four technical people. In the second phase, with the new platform, they were seven people in the dev team, one UI designer, and a technical architect from their side.

How did you come to work with Faba Technology?

I found them through networking. I was told they were a good company and was introduced to them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–June 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our previous platform wasn’t good enough for investors to fund for us, then Faba Technology provided a technical solution that enriched our vision and strategy. It’s easier to run the business and to get new users with the new version. We have the ability to scale up and we can show it to investors.

How did Faba Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

They worked in the waterfall model for the first two months, and then in an agile model for the second phase. We used Trello and Jira as well as another tool for high-level management reports.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re flexible in supporting us and are generally very supportive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They give much information out about themselves, so they need to care about their branding more.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Talking to them in-person will be helpful.
