A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder and COO of Janelle Jayonce Productions (JJP). My talk show, Home Cooked Convos, launched on Youtube in 2015 and is trademarked and an LLC under the umbrella of JPP.
My show is mainly an LGBTQ+ platform and mainly centers on women and members of the LGBTQ+ community that I am a part of. However, my guests are from all walks of life and anyone can view my show. When the pandemic happened, I reached out to anyone in the public eye or anyone of stature who had a meaningful message behind their company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Ecstatic Design?
I have a trademarked catchphrase on my show and wanted to turn it into a t-shirt — I was looking for designers who could help me with fonts, colors, and backgrounds.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The team at Extatic Design worked on my t-shirt design. I provided them with a vision I had for the shirt and then they sent me a variety of different fonts, colors, and backgrounds to choose from.
They sent out the ideas within a week and added their input on the design. We went back and forth on the designs, but eventually, we settled on exactly what I wanted.
What is the team composition?
I worked with one teammate who had other designers working under him that I did not have contact with.
How did you come to work with Ecstatic Design?
I did an initial online search for designers and put up a job posting. Several firms then reached out to me, including Extatic Design.
An Extatic Design teammate introduced me to the manager and showed me their portfolio. They did a screen share with me and outlined precisely how the design process would work. I ended up deciding to hire them.
How much have you invested with them?
I spent $250 with Extatic Design.
What is the status of this engagement?
The partnership lasted through October 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The first impression is always the most important, and I'd say Extatic Design did a great job with this design — the outcome was exactly what I wanted.
How did Ecstatic Design perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management was great. Since I am the CEO and this is my personal brand, I was very hands-on during the project and provided precise information on my design vision. They accommodated me, and we had Zoom meetings where they showed me exactly what they were doing and how my visions were being translated into the designs.
We used email, Zoom, and phone calls to communicate. They followed through with me and kept their promise to communicate frequently.
The teammate I worked with did everything I asked him to and if he couldn't respond to my messages, one of his colleagues would get back to me. I had his personal and company phone numbers and anytime I had issues with the design, I'd either text or email him.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I loved that they listened to my idea and they paid attention to the details of what I wanted so they could really capture my vision for the project. They were friendly, had good customer service, and were on top of everything.
Since completing the project, the teammate I worked with has said I can reach out to them for any future project, and I definitely would use them again.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't think there is anything they would improve on — they did everything I asked them to do.
Any advice for potential customers?
Clients need to be precise with their ideas. I always say that everyone needs to get all the information down in writing because of the potential for miscommunication.
I highlighted vital information in each email directive so that their team would pay attention to it. The designers are from all over the world and speak many languages, so it is critical to ensure that all communication is clear.
The client is pleased with the outcome of the design. Extatic Design accommodated the client's hands-on work style and was transparent about progress throughout the design process — they communicated frequently via Zoom, phone calls, and emails.
