Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a Partner with a luxury custom clothing company based in Denver. We service clients throughout Colorado and I handle marketing and content creation for the business, in addition to working one-on-one with clients.
For what projects/services did your company hire Emerson Stone?
We hired Emerson Stone to redesign our outdated website and to update our overall brand. This included a logo redesign and improvement on the overall aesthetic. Our brand needed to look professional across all of our platforms and pieces of collateral. This wasn't something we could do in-house, so we hired Emerson Stone.
What were your goals for this project?
Simply put, we wanted a unique website design, one that didn't have a standard template look and feel. It had to highlight our luxury clothing in the right way. We also wanted to introduce custom illustrations to set us apart from other clothiers, who tend to use stock model photography. We wanted to see an improvement in website traffic and appointment requests.
How did you select this vendor?
My brother is a managing Partner at Emerson Stone and I have closely followed his work since the company's inception. My brother had a good understanding of what we wanted to achieve with the website, but what was most important for us from a design perspective, was that the aesthetic had to be very contemporary and forward-thinking, just like our clothing. The past work of Emerson Stone gave us a high level of confidence that we could achieve this. Finally, the price had to be within our budget.
Describe the project in detail.
At the kick-off meeting, we explained our vision for the website, to the best of our ability. Those of us in the clothing business didn't have a strong understanding of design and struggled to convey what we wanted. But Emerson Stone listened carefully and asked thoughtful clarifying questions. At the next meeting, Emerson Stone provided some great looking logo concepts and wireframes for our site.
What was the team composition?
We were assigned a project manager and had plenty of face time with all three of the Partners at Emerson Stone. There was an illustrator working on the backend and another developer. The size of the team did not change over the duration of the project.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
It was important for us to see an improvement of time-on-page for our website visitors, and we did. And although it's more of a "soft metric," many of our clients had told us that the website looked very professional and modern, exactly what we were hoping for.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was easy to get hold of our project manager and our questions were always answered in a timely manner.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
What I found most impressive about Emerson Stone was their eye for style and trends. For instance, the font choices were unique and very different for the time. And sure enough, a year later, some of the very large brands in custom clothing were using the same fonts! Emerson Stone really is ahead of the curve when it comes to understanding trends and upcoming styles.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Our experience would have been even better if Emerson Stone had sent us a quick weekly email update on the progress.
The site redesign and updated branding collateral helped the business see a significant improvement in on-page time for users. The site has earned praise from clients, too. As a partner, Emerson Stone was up-to-date on the industry and brought innovative ideas to the project.
