BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of noted, a technology and logistics company that specializes in online purchases and returns. We handle all the processes of returning an item for our clients.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Emergest?

I needed assistance developing the mobile version of a web application a previous team had created for me.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I used Emergest for their expertise in mobile apps. We provided brand guidelines, and they got familiar with our company and process. From there, we established the MVP version of the mobile app. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with two designers and a developer. The founder would check in periodically to ensure we were moving forward and to see if we had any questions or concerns.

How did you come to work with Emergest?

A friend recommended them to me. I met Boris (Co-Founder) in a casual meeting. We then set up something more formal where we talked about our expectations and how we could collaborate.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $18,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on the project's first phase from September–December 2022. They made a proposal for phase two, and we look forward to working with them again after the holidays.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We tested the clickable prototype with a group of people and asked them to complete specific tasks on the app. Every person completed the task in under a minute, and we made a few changes to the prototype they presented. As far as UX, the app was a success.

How did Emergest perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything went phenomenally. Emergest stayed on track with the budget and worked fast and diligently — I loved that. Our teams used Figma to review templates and keep track of the process; we had previous experience using it, which made the process easy and efficient.

They did a great job communicating with our web team through Slack, even though they were in different time zones and had language barriers.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re a unique company — there aren’t a lot of businesses that do what we do, so it can be hard for people to understand. I was impressed with Emergest’s ability to understand our product and bring that to life in a mobile app; the process was seamless and efficient. 

Although I’m not a founder with a tech background, I understood everything they were doing throughout the process. That’s hard to come by when you’re building tech; I appreciated it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There wasn’t anything they needed to improve; they were great. We outlined the expectations from the beginning, and they were delivered.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I’d advise you to be direct and set expectations; you get out what you put in. It’s important to use time wisely and have open communication; you can only do that if you prepare for the meetings. 

I made sure I came prepared; Emergest always shared what they were working on beforehand, so it wasn’t the first time I saw it when the meeting took place. That way, I could get questions answered in real time.
