What challenge were you trying to address with YapBuzz LLC?
We needed someone to develop our entire software platform.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
YapBuzz was our lead developer in building our software platform. They managed our PHP backend, created several mobile apps for the Android and iOS platforms, and even developed our web portal’s frontend that involved a client-facing dashboard. Additionally, they supported us with an internal management administrative console as well.
They brought in a large of about 3–4 developers and 2–3 QA testers to initially develop the web portal. After that, they went on to develop both native mobile apps for the iOS and Android platforms simultaneously. It took about 1–2 years initially to get to beta, and we added two more years to polish and refine the product for our public launch.
What is the team composition?
Our primary contact was Prabal (CEO), but they were able to bring on additional developers as needed to expand the team.
How did you come to work with YapBuzz LLC?
We found them while we were looking for developers with certain competencies on Google. What was very appealing about Prabal was he was able to manage a large team in addition to doing a lot of the programming himself. From a cost-savings measure, he was very efficient and we were able to pay him one fee instead of paying three or four different people to do what he did.
How much have you invested with them?
I would say we invested about $250,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from October 2017–October 2019.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We did a lot of client demos for new client acquisition, and people were actually amazed and impressed by the software. We never once received negative feedback so I think that’s a testament to the work that YapBuzz did.
How did YapBuzz LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
They were great at project management, but as transparent feedback, at times we felt that they were a bit too slow. However, I’ve worked with many developers and what I found is it’s better to do something once the right way, even if it takes longer, than to push something out hastily. While they did the work at a slower pace, the quality of the work was always excellent whenever it was released — I appreciate the fact that there was a lot of care taken with the code that was written.
YapBuzz provided us with a lot of financial flexibility. They allowed us to expand and contract the team as needed in real-time. There were times when we brought on an iOS developer and Android developer, and when we didn’t need them anymore, we were able to scale down to save costs. We mostly communicated through Skype, text, and video calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The biggest thing that stood out to me with YapBuzz, was their transparency and honesty and in this business, it’s difficult to find a partner you can trust. We never once felt that the hours were overestimated or over accounted for. Their process was very transparent and I’ve never had that kind of experience with all the developers I’ve worked with.
I would also like to add that Prabal probably worked on our project for more than what he charged us for. He will get the work done if it means eating his own hours.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think they can be a little more efficient in how they get things done, and maybe push things out a little faster without impacting the quality of the work. Another thing I also have criticism for is the design. They had very good developers in terms of writing the code itself, but the frontend UI/UX needs more work.
However, that has more to do with us as a client, because we made it very difficult for them — we were pivoting and changing directions all the time, so I think we were partly at fault. I did have a positive experience working with them, and I would absolutely recommend them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
To get the most out of any developer, particularly YapBuzz, you would need to have a full solid roadmap before starting the development. That can really make things a lot more efficient, and make sure the UI/UX is fully fleshed out because I feel like that’s a slight area of deficiency with them.

YapBuzz gave us access to Google Analytics so we could see the web traffic that has been generated on the site. Through interactions with the external world, everybody has given very high marks for the look and feel of the site and its design and functionality.
Given that my business associate recommended them, we weren’t disappointed. We were very satisfied with the results.
How did YapBuzz LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
They were prompt at meeting deadlines, and they were usually very quick in responding to emails and phone calls even outside of regular business hours, which we appreciated.
We’d give them a general requirement of the different sections that we needed on the website. They would react quickly to that and update us almost every week to show us the progress. They made suggestions as we went along to improve the functionality and the looks of the site. Overall, it has been a very positive experience.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What was most impressive is their desire to truly help us instead of just doing what we asked for. Sometimes, we’d make suggestions that may not necessarily be in our best interest.
They had professional knowledge of building sites, and they’d be very candid with us when guiding the process with their expertise. They were thinking about our firm's value proposition so that their design would come alive and be more effective. That's what I appreciated the most.
They went above and beyond what we simply expected from web development. They really wanted to ask business questions, such as what we were trying to convey with a paragraph or what we were trying to say to our clients. They put a lot of care into that, and I found that to be a clear differentiator among other competitors of theirs.

Nothing comes to mind. In general, we’re very satisfied with the result.

My organization is Cosmo-Barber.com, an online educational platform, and I’m the director.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with YapBuzz LLC?
With the onset of COVID-19, it was hard for some of our students to be on-site, so we needed a website to deliver teaching instructions to the virtual students.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
YapBuzz built a brand new website, in which we could upload content and have it be delivered to students at home. Until March 2020, the institution had been delivering instructions through the traditional method of having students come on campus.
The site was built on WordPress. We had to use what we could on WordPress, so there were some constraints. Other than that, I let the designer make recommendations, and I went with the flow.
Because this was a very basic website, they were more in charge of just developing the backbone of it rather than the actual content, which is the bare minimum. We weren’t very picky; we were focused on effective teaching rather than presentation.

We worked with just one person.
How did you come to work with YapBuzz LLC?
We found them through a web search. I was looking for someone local so that we would be able to meet in person to give them instructions or content rather than working together virtually.
How much have you invested with them?
The total work cost $4,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in March 2020, and things got wrapped up in June 2020. I had an inkling that we were probably going to close down the institution temporarily, so I started researching designing a website in February.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The students mentioned that the ease of access is great; the presentation is very basic, making it easy for them to learn. YapBuzz developed a good-looking website, and it functions very well. It doesn’t crash or anything like that. Those were the main things that we were looking for.
How did YapBuzz perform from a project management standpoint?
YapBuzz was definitely very good. This is my first time working on such a project. If I were to come up with any other design projects, I would definitely work with YapBuzz. The person I was in contact with was very communicative and punctual.
What I like the best was he understood that I had no knowledge of web design. Instead of just doing things, he’d explain why he was doing it so that if I ever decided to do it myself, which is never the case, I’d have that knowledge. I appreciated that. He was very engaging and really involved me in the process.
In the end, I didn’t need to meet with them in person. We were able to communicate effectively through emails and chat with video conferences.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was really impressed with how easy it was for me. I did not have to be as involved as I thought I would have to be. I basically just gave YapBuzz my idea, and they ran with it without making it their own. They involved me and got my opinion.
For the kind of website that I was building, it was very economical and below my budget, which was good. I would definitely recommend newcomers and beginners like me to work with them.
I know they probably have bigger, more elaborate projects, and they work with more complex designs. However, they can work with someone like me and make it somewhat enjoyable and easy.
Our contact person is a professional. I don’t want him to get too popular because when I need anything else done, I hope they’ll be able to squeeze me in.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I have no criticisms or suggestions. I think they’re doing a good job.

Design and implementation of a wordpress based application to allow for consumer participation and data tracking for charity based programs that utilize teams to achieve donation goals throughout the year. . The app would allow the entering of individual profiles and their assigning to patcipating teams. The app is to be able to track the individual participation of each member as the collect items of charity toward their personal and team goals. The app is to be mostley self-sufficient and allow the constant addition of individuals and assigning of tasks with little administration involvement. Teams will have the ability to adjust, edit and compare thier progress against other teams through access to an editable database. All data will also be available to a admin to monitor and access all team and individual data as well. Members will also be able to create and disseminate events to other team members and track progress.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Client was immediately pleased and satisfied with the final project. Users found the application simple and elegant in its design with little or no leaning curb required. App was easily usable for any level of user computer knowlege. I've used YapBuzz for past projects and have been completely satisfied and impressed with all aspects of thir work

Always ahead of schedule. Immediate response to all communication and was able to offfer simple and sensible solutions throughout project development. All of the suggestions were implemented and vastly improved the final project.

They knew the best and most cost-effective way to achieve the client's desired outcome. Able to educate, throughout all designs steps, as to why and how different approaches would achieve the stated goals. Honesty as to exactly what the pros and cons were of every aspect and question. Guided the client through all options and accurately estimated time and cost ramifications as the needs of the project evolved.
Are there any areas for improvement or something YapBuzz LLC could have done differently?
I have had several projects with YapBuzz and have been completed satisfies and impressed with teh attention of detail and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours? Find one that is willing and enthusiastic to become a partner in your project. One that can look at your goals and offer a path that might be more efffective in both cost and funtionality
