Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a IT administrator for a marketing agency out in Birmingham, AL.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Elley?

We hired Elley to assist with migrating our datacenter to AWS. This included domain controllers, file servers, databases, webservers, FTP servers, etc.

What were your goals for this project?

The costs of renting cage and rack space in a data center were skyrocketing, and management directed our IT department to find a cheaper hosting solution - either by bringing the environment internally or by migrating what we could to the cloud.

We chose AWS as the cloud solution given that we already had a considerable amount of assets hosted there already for client projects. We were given a time line of 6 months to complete the project.

How did you select this vendor?

We chose Elley because historically they provided us with exceptional customer support and expertise with previous projects. They manage our VOIP and anti email spam systems with precision, so we already felt comfortable partnering with them on this project.

Describe the project in detail.

At the beginning of the project, we had several meetings that covered the scope and time table. Elley provided us with a statement of work with a step by step outline of the project, including time estimates and dates of expected completion.

What was the team composition?

Each week, we had a conference call with the owner and his engineers, to go over the progress made and to discuss any outstanding issues.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

During the course of the project, we successfully upgraded our old antiquated fileserver to a more modern and robust system - complete with S3 and Glacier backups in AWS.

We provisioned 2 new domain controllers, and updated all of the front and back end web environments with modern servers. Long term savings is projected to be $400,000 over the next 5 years.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was the most effective workflow I've ever been a part of. We had weekly meetings covering the progress Elley had made each week. Everything was documented professionally and at the end of the migration, we passed our SOC2 security audit with flying colors.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

These guys go above and beyond all expectations and complete their goals in a timely manner.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None
