Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the co-founder and product director
For what projects/services did your company hire EJaw Software?
With several games in live ops, we needed extra art bandwidth to bolster our in-game seasonal content. We decided to look for an art outsourcing partner to produce a mixture of 2D and 3D seasonal art content on different themes.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were recommended EJaw by another games development studio that we are close to.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We supplied EJaw with a mood board and a spec sheet of all the items we'd like produced to fit within the various parts of the game (some elements appear in the game itself, others in menu screens and promo pop-ups). The specs required that sometimes they work in greyscale, sometimes in colour, and for some of the assets to be 3D rather than 2D.
EJaw would then produce concept sketches, sometimes furthering those into colour concepts, before working up the final version and/or modelling the item in 3D. Deliveries included textured 3D assets, and flattened 2D elements ready for use in-game (plus some PSDs where requested).
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked primarily with Maksym on a day-to-day basis, and he in turn forwarded on any of my notes etc to the artists working at EJaw. He also set the schedule for us and ensured delivery on time, keeping us up to date with revisions every step of the way.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Despite facing an unprecedented situation in Ukraine, EJaw *still* managed to deliver not just one season of work, but two! We'd be happy to continue working with them in future too once we have some more work lined up. I'd definitely say that suggests the project was a success!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Project management was excellent, we found a really nice rhythm and received daily updates from Maksym and the team. First class at managing their time and our expectations.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Something that could not normally be said really, which is that in times of incredible hardship these guys still had the passion to keep going and deliver on their work. Once the war started, we were willing to just wait and hope that everybody was ok, but not expect any more work to come through.
Not only did they then continue, but we agreed to a second season of work and they flew through all of that too! I cannot thank EJaw Software enough!
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We had some minor feedback after season one which they took on board (mainly around hitting some of the technical requirements on the final output), but from now on we have a great rhythm with EJaw and could easily work with them again on another season.

Videogame Development for Gaming Company
"I receive everything that I expect."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the COO for a gaming company. We do casual gaming for mobile.
What challenge were you trying to address with EJaw Games?
We were looking for talented developers to help us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They helped us decide on what we were building and how we should do it. We had our artists drawing the game and also writing it. EJaw is now developing the game in a collaborative process.
What is the team composition?
There are two developers who we work directly with — they’ve been helping us with the development nonstop.
How did you come to work with EJaw Games?
It was a perfect match where we picked the providers according to their descriptions.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent over $100,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in February 2019, and the project is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They provide great developers for us — I’m delighted with the quality of their work.
How did EJaw Games perform from a project management standpoint?
They offered a third person to manage the project, but we wanted to do it ourselves. They’re responsive too; we had some issues at the beginning regarding the hours, and they solved them quickly.
In terms of communication, we use Skype, Zoom, and daily phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m satisfied with the quality of their work and the communication with their team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — I receive everything that I expect.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Work closely with the developers — our model of working is good because we talk directly to the developers daily.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the CEO of a video game company.
For what projects/services did your company hire EJaw Games, and what were your goals?
We hired eJaw to develop our latest mobile game, Victory Belles.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were referred to them by a few sources, and vetted them through a technical test and a general interview.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We used a lean framework to get them oriented and developing, using iOS, Droid and PC as our platform targets. We started with monthly playable clients, and eventually moved to two week and then one week playables.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Over the years, we've had over a dozen people from eJaw working with us, Devs, QA, Art, Designers and TPMs.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The most important deliverable of all: the game client, tested, hardened, maintainable and (nearly) ready for release. eJaw demonstrated great flexibility under changing conditions, and never wavered in their support. We knew from day 1, and every day since, that they would be the partner to deliver.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
eJaw adapted to our own preferences in communication, even as they changed over time. They used every tool, met every request, and clearly communicated in English.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
eJaw is goal oriented; this means they are not chasing a set of hours or a contract term, but worked with us to develop the right product, regardless of setbacks. It's very rare to find a company that wants to share the product vision.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
It's hard to see something that isn't specific to the product or its unique development as an area of growth or improvement. Generally, a deeper bench, perhaps.

We wanted to create a role-playing game for our client. The game has a lot of complexity in terms of a number of arts, and game design.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Communication quality with client Great artists! Speed of development
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I would say that reporting is one thing that needs to be improved, even though the company provides frequent visual demos, I'm still the kind of client who likes to see the numbers. But this is not a bottleneck for us

Game Dev For Gaming Company

Please describe your company and your position there.
Im the CEO of a gaming company that creates games for influencers.
For what projects/services did your company hire EJaw Games?
We had a lot of work and wanted to outsource to an agency, so we contacted EJaw games.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
They seemed like a legitimate company and had a decent portfolio.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We needed a prototype for a drifting game. We put together a simple game design document and handed the rest to them.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Apparently 3 (Developer, artist and gamedesigner) but judging by the results, there was probably only one person working on it...
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Not really. So basically I asked them for a quote and they told me $1000 / 50h. We are not very experienced and this is the first time we hire an agency. Long story short, they completely high balled us for what we were asking for and totally took advantage of us.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Communication was pretty good, they also sent updates and stuff, but as soon as I confronted them about highballing us and lying about how many hours it took them (unfortunately after I had payed), they starting making up things like "We spent 12h searching for assets" like...what? Oh and now that they noticed that they messed up, they seem to be ignoring us...
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
It is very impressive to me that a company this big (in comparison to us, we are a small startup) has the lack of decency and morals to basically scam us out of our strictly budgeted money.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Yes, they should not have taken advantage of us. They should stop ignoring us and refund us our money. Even if only partial. They charged us 50h of work although it probably took them less than 10h.
The vendor responded on December 12, 2022.
The score given doesn't correspond to the feedback provided.
Scheduling was smooth, but the score 2.0.
Quality was “OK”, but score 3.0
Project was fix price and agreed upon, so the score’s unjustified.
EJaw Software exceeded expectations by delivering two seasons' worth of work for the client, effectively broadening the scope of their engagement. They were excellent at managing the project as well as the client's expectations. Their dedication and tendency to go above and beyond stood out.
