BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
We are Discount Pool Mart, a swimming pool supply store with multiple locations in Los Angeles County, and the surrounding areas. We provide installation and repair services as well as sell pool supplies and equipment.
I'm an Operations Manager at the Warehouse for our stores. I find solutions for problems that we are experiencing or that we may encounter in the foreseeable future.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire EACHBASE?
We needed to redesign our e-commerce website for our stores. We also required custom development for ERPLY, our retail and warehouse management system, to be integrated with our e-commerce site.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to create a modern, fast, and responsive website with custom functionality based on our needs. We wanted to update the UI of our site. We wanted to integrate our E-Commerce site with ERPLY and with ShippingEasy for Order Management, Tracking, Billing, Stock Updates, and for Invoicing.
We also wanted all of these to be automated, with no need for human involvement. We wanted the platform to use a framework that was up to modern standards and used secure and best practices. We decided to focus on PHP since it is a stable language and great for transactions. We wanted customers to have a hassle-free experience and to have an easy time using the site.
We wanted to put ourselves back on the map for our e-commerce site. We also wanted to be able to quickly and effectively reproduce these kinds of sites.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
We considered a couple of companies but ultimately decided to move forward with EachBase. We did have a couple of contacts that we had worked with before, but they were not capable of handling such a task. We came across them from a referral. We had the owners and the rest of our board there to consider the proposal, and they were our best bet.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
We transitioned from OSCommerce to Magento. We were to provide a list of functionality and features that we wanted and to provide a general guideline for the design that we wanted. EachBase provided a quote and a prototype for this project, and when we agreed, they moved forward with the designs, and if we wanted anything to add to it, they considered it and revised the plans.
They provided the following features: - ERPLY Integration with Magento Backend This integration allowed for Automatic Order Fulfilment, Stock Updates, and Invoice Generation. Any changes in Magento updated ERPLY, and the stock was updated accordingly. Returns were also automated.
They created this integration by using ERPLY's API, and this was part of the custom development we requested. On the site, users can also check whether a specific product is in stock or not. They created this functionality by using the getStockInfo ERPLY API Request. - ShippingEasy Integration with Magento
This integration allowed for automatic Order Tracking and Management for our e-commerce site without requiring us to log in to the Magento backend to fulfill orders. We could quickly and seamlessly manage all of our orders from one place.
- Responsive and Modern UI/UX A beautiful, responsive website with a Modern UI adhering to UI/UX Design Principles
- Hosting Fast and scalable hosting for our sites
- Multiple Payment Methods We use Stripe, Apple Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay
- One-Click Checkout Customers can purchase a product by clicking a Buy Now button, and it will automatically redirect them to the checkout page.
- One-Page Checkout Customers checkout in 3 easy steps on one page; the site won't reload for the next step in the checkout form.
- Wishlist Customers can add specific products to their wishlist
- Custom Menu Functionality We have custom functionality on our site that can help customers find the part number they need for their pool equipment replacement parts.
- Order Tracking # Customers can track the status of their order currently by utilizing FedEx's, UPS', and USPS' APIs.
- User Manual, Documentation, and Training They provided us with a User Manual and documentation on how to navigate and properly use the backend. Instructions are clear and straightforward to use.
What was the team composition?
The two points of contact that we had were with George and Harry. They gave us all the information that we needed, and they handled the rest. George is more focused on UI/UX design, Marketing, and SEO. Harry is more concentrated on Programming, Full-Stack Development.
They both know each other's respective fields, but don't step on one another's turf. We didn't want to be continuously involved in the process, and they made sure not to make it a hassle.
Due to having some experience with Web Development, I was able to contribute with gathering API keys and signing up for the things that the company would need to handle on their side. They involved us in the approval side of things.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Our users increased to around 250 daily users, and we expect this number to only increase over time as the site is improving every day with more content. We already received a couple of orders for products that weren't selling in stores as effectively. They fulfilled and surpassed each of our expectations.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The project management was excellent. EachBase mainly used GSuite for communication and also provided everything on time. We did text and speak on the phone for testing out the software. I have no complaints.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
EachBase is humble and understanding. They aren't interested in making their lives easier. We worked with other companies before who did try to take advantage of our lack of knowledge and expertise in Web Development. These companies would usually blow requests out of proportion and claim that it was going to cost a lot of time and money.
EachBase instead tried to use everything within their resources to help us out. If need be, they even reached out for outside help. They were humble enough to admit if they didn't know the answer to something, but they would always get back to you. George and Harry also made sure that you were aware of precisely what the scope of the project was and for what they were responsible.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I don't think there's anything that they can improve on. EachBase did an excellent job.
