I’m the marketing and communications director of Les Restaurants Lafleur, a fast-food restaurant chain.

Dreww helps us with social media marketing (SMM) and additional branding tasks. They work on our logos and handle our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts, including posting stories, photos, reels, and any other content we decide on collaboratively. Dreww’s team is also responsible for designing and implementing creative assets, a content calendar, and even developing an innovative campaign with an actress we hired. For this last part, they came up with a comedic story of an older lady that was our community manager.

Porsche Track Experience Influence Campaign
To kick off our mandate with Porsche Cars Canada Ltd., Dreww was asked to produce their Track Experience Influence Campaign in June 2022, an activation where two Ontario creators were invited to try this unique Porsche experience at the historic Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).
The two creators, Alen Palander and Chris Hau, were sent out to CTMP for a half day and had the chance to try the Porsche 911 Carrera on the race track. During this experience, they were able to challenge and develop their driving skills while acquiring valuable new driving techniques.

Volkswagen Film Production
“50 years of Valleyfield Volkswagen” is a branded film that tells the story of Henri Cassius de Linval (founder) and Nadine Cassius de Linval (president), of the family-owned Volkswagen dealership in Valleyfield, Québec. In 1972 Henri opened what was at the time one of the first Volkswagen dealerships in Québec. 50 years later, a legacy has been left for his daughter Nadine to perpetuate.

Second Cup Dating April Fools Stunt
For April Fools’ we orchestrated a stunt that consisted of tricking the Canadian consumers into thinking that Second Cup was launching a dating app called Second Cup Dating. This stunt was propelled online via a video that pitched the concept of the app with a fictional character we created called Craig Smith O’Callahan.
This April Fools’ joke generated millions of impressions for the Second Cup brand due to earned media coverage. Media outlets such as Narcity, Nightlife.ca, Paul Arcand’s 98.5 FM morning show among others spoke of the fake app in the days following its announcement.

Photo Production for Cirque du Soleil
Dreww’s team orchestrated a photo production for Cirque du Soleil. The goal of this campaign was to illustrate the Canadian entertainment company’s collaboration with Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, the youngest of all the major Champagne brands.

Cidre Lacroix Brand Commercial
In the context of our summer 2019 brand campaign for Cidrerie Lacroix, we produced a 1min 30-second brand commercial. This was Cidrerie Lacroix's first-ever commercial so we opted to communicate the heritage of the brand along with the summer lifestyle we wanted to associate with it.

Cook it Tv Commercials
We produced a series of commercials for Cook it's fall 2021 brand campaign. Initially filmed for television, the ads, which feature a revamped logo and a completely fresh identity, were adapted for a variety of digital formats and deployed on all of the brand’s digital platforms.

Cook it advertising photo production
Alongside the 2 television commercials we produced for Cook it, we also produced a series of advertising photos for them with the same actors and scenes used in the films.

Bacardi Spiced Rum Commercial
We produced two 15-second cocktail pre-roll ads that put forward the collaboration between two classic cocktail ingredients: The Great Gentleman Ginger Beer and Bacardi Spiced Rum.

Maille Mayo Advertising Photo Production
For the launch of Maille Canada’s brand new Dijon Mayonnaise in September of 2021, we produced photos for social media, as well as their website. This campaign also highlighted our partnerships with well-known chefs Danny Smiles from l’Auberge Willow Inn, Francis Blais and Camilo Lapointe-Nascimento from Menu Extra, as well as celebrity TikTok chef Laurent Dagenais.

Hoegaarden Influence Campaign
Hoegaarden hired us to launch a Quebec based influence campaign for their fall 2020 campaign. We collaborated with 50 creators from across Québec during this mandate. Between October 7th, and October 8th, our creators made 1 carousel post on their Instagram Feed and 4-8 posts in their Instagram Stories. The post showcased a delicious meal paired with a Hoegaarden beer highlighting Quebec’s rustic-city flare. Here are some of the photos they produced and posted online.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the general manager at a nonprofit organization in a private high school in Quebec. Our organization has existed since 2000, and we raise funds to add different installations to the private school, including cultural and sports facilities. The school was founded in 1951, so our fundraising helps bring its facilities up to date.
What challenge were you trying to address with Dreww?
We were in the middle of a major fundraising campaign starting its second year. During a board meeting in March 2022, we decided to hire a firm to create testimonial videos and voted on a budget; in the philanthropic world, this approach has enabled many to achieve fundraising goals. Our mandate to Dreww was to produce videos for the campaign to launch our second year. The goal was to stimulate our campaign and raise funds to complete our project.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Dreww has created four videos for our fundraising campaign; one describes the project, and the other three are testimonials from school alumni. We gave them names of alums and broad ideas, and they were responsible for the storytelling and technical aspects. They built scenarios and came back with creative ideas that we discussed back and forth for about three months; they created 85%–90% of the content.
After a holiday, they came to our facilities and filmed the video. The team put together a set and found alums to give testimonials. We built what we wanted in each story using my ideas and their creative input and expertise. They also filmed exterior footage of the school. From there, Dreww edited the videos, and we premiered them at a launch event.
Currently, they’re helping us with a social media marketing (SMM) campaign on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn that will run for the next month. The campaign will use the same videos, and Dreww will use Meta to reach out to as many people as possible.
What is the team composition?
We work with Andrew (Founder, CEO & Executive Producer), Julien (CAO), Evan (Film Production Manager), Joshua (Director of Film Productions), and a few other teammates supporting us. I work with the editing team through Evan.
How did you come to work with Dreww?
We approached a few companies, and Dreww came highly recommended by some of our board members. We have technology courses in grades 10 and 11, and some of the alums that have gone through them now work for Dreww. Additionally, some of our teachers raved about the company.
I had also heard of them through campaigns they had run in Montreal since they’ve worked with big brands in Quebec and Canada. Ultimately, we chose Dreww due to their capacity for storytelling, which is one of their specialties. Moreover, if we give someone money, we like to encourage our alums. We knew we would get a good product from Dreww and that they could deliver what we wanted.

We’ve spent $32,000 CAD (approximately $24,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around May 2022, and they finished the videos in November 2022. Our engagement is ongoing.

Thanks to Dreww’s work, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our campaign; the launch event in November 2022 was a success, helping us raise thousands of dollars in donations. The videos have also improved our visibility because people are talking about our campaign. We’ll have more metrics in six months after the social media efforts. Overall, Dreww has been able to funnel our ideas into something concrete that matches our vision.
How did Dreww perform from a project management standpoint?
We have no problem with their project management. They’ve established the budget and have stuck to it. As for deadlines, they deliver things when they say they will. We communicate through emails, text messages, phone calls, and Zoom. We use phone calls or texts when we need to contact them quickly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed with Dreww’s creative edge and their understanding of testimonial videos. They’re also very skilled in SMM; their last campaign with another company went viral a month ago, so they know how to get attention for the products they’re pushing. Therefore, I’m excited about the SMM campaign results and expect a lot of traffic for the videos and the donations that come with that.

I can’t think of any negative points; they’ve delivered what we wanted, and we’re very satisfied.

Their communication was great — we really appreciated it. Everything was very clear, and any questions we had took under 12 hours to answer.

Independant Studios offers a turnkey solution. They were so great at getting everything together and really listening to what we needed to do. We didn’t have to go back and forth a million times, which can be really frustrating and make things take a lot longer. Indpendant Studios hit the nail on the head right from the start. They were great to work with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The length of time it took to see the finished product was a bit long. It was a little bit nerve-wracking, but I trusted their process. However, I would’ve liked to see a little more post-production before the launch, just to get a better feel for things.

We worked with their team for a specific brand called Great Jamaican, which needed help with a social media video campaign.

They wrote the script for all of the content, and we reviewed and approved what we liked. From there, they handled all of the pre-production planning process, filming, and post-production editing of the final product.

Since they are a younger group, they don’t have quite the same working hours and feedback processes in place that you might expect, but it never caused us any major problems.

They are really friendly and easy to work with, so as long as you have a good sense of what you want them to create, they will be able to make it happen for you.
