    Introduce your business and what you do there.

    I am the director of Hollenshades Auto Services, a family-run independent auto services facility. It’s a small business, so I do my share of everything. We’re very large for an independent auto-repair facility, but we’re not an auto-dealer nor are we a body-shop.

    OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

    What challenge were you trying to address with Dragonfly Digital Marketing?

    We were early adopters to the internet, and 12 years ago we started with a template website from a private individual, where we had no control over the artistic design and limited control over content.

    We watched our performance with our site decline over time, so we knew that change was warranted. Wanting more control over our brand, we brought our web-design in-house. We hired Geoffrey (CEO, Dragonfly Digital Marketing) to help ease the issues with that transition.

    SOLUTION

    What was the scope of their involvement?

    Geoffrey didn’t actually build our website, someone else did. We had a lot of SEO risk transitioning sites, as we had thousands of links. Geoffrey helped us with the SEO transition. He continues to manage our SEO services, and he does do some work for our social media.

    We don’t have a contract with him to do our social media, but he helps because it interacts with his SEO activities. He’s willing to answer any question, and if he can’t figure out the answer, he’ll find someone who can.

    I also gave him access to most of our accounts—an indication of my trust—and he had close to unfettered access as he improved our digital marketing.

    How did you come to work with Dragonfly Digital Marketing?

    We searched for a company that didn’t have that "murky-internet" feel. We met a lot of different people who tried to take over all our accounts or they wouldn’t work with us.

    It’s uncomfortable to give those credentials over to someone from the dubious world of the internet, but Geoffrey’s very different. If I passed him my information, I trusted him, and he earned it. If I didn’t want to pass them over, he found a way to make it work around that. He’s full of integrity and different from most.

    How much have you invested with them?

    We spend roughly $12,000 annually.

    What is the status of this engagement?

    We started working in June 2018, and we still work together.

    What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

    I directly give him credit for most of our progress in digital marketing. It’s significantly better—we’ve tripled the business being brought in. 

    It takes time after a website transition to get your numbers back up. Despite this, we were back to where we were pre-transition in 3–5 months, and we’ve continued to grow since. It’s a very methodical process that Geoffrey operates under—he understands the steps to get where we want. He doesn’t overpromise, and he’s different in a good way.

    How did Dragonfly Digital Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

    We mostly communicate over email and have probably talked over the phone 5–10 times over the past two years. He’s highly responsive. No matter what time I email him I always receive a response in less than three hours.

    A lot of vendors don’t like to work with others—they want to get all the possible revenue and box out everyone else. Geoffrey isn’t like that. When we hired someone else for website design because of their automotive experience, Geoffrey was happy to work with that person. His ability to collaborate really sets him apart.

    What did you find most impressive about them?

    Geoffrey will always find the answer to every question, going the extra mile to figure out a problem if he doesn’t already know the solution. His transparency, openness, and willingness to be available 24/7 continually impressed me.

    Are there any areas they could improve?

    No, not at this time.

    Do you have any advice for potential customers?

    I respect that Geoffrey has minimums. That never was an issue for us, but some smaller businesses might run into issues. His minimums are reasonable and competitive. He wants to provide quality work for everyone, and he needs a minimum amount to staff his fantastic team.

The ROI is a factor of five or more depending on the year probably. We haven’t had one year of negative growth with Dragonfly Digital Marketing.
