OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Dood Software?

We worked with them to develop two of our products, one of which is a large platform in the insurance market in Romania—all the major insurance companies offer their policies through the platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We outsourced everything to them, from management to development and testing. The web application was built on PHP, using Node.js for the microservices. They mostly handled development, but also provided support for our business requirements. They have a lot of knowledge, and they knew about everything related to the project, so they brought great ideas to the table.

What is the team composition?

They assigned six developers to our project, mainly senior developers. They’re very young, but they have a lot of experience.

How did you come to work with Dood Software?

We chose them because the founders of their company used to work for ours. They started Dood Software about a year ago, and we knew their people had value.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost so far has been a few hundred thousand euros, and it will come to 1 million euros in total (approximately $1,130,000 USD). They’re a good team, but also an expensive one. I believe their smallest fee is €45 per hour (approximately $50 USD), and they only take on bigger projects that can use the whole team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in early 2018, around the time their company was founded. The work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve only released four modules to production so far. The EU review committee that funded the project provided a good review of the work. Dood Software handled the presentation for the committee, which was a plus.

How did Dood Software perform from a project management standpoint?

It’s been very good so far. They have their own team who are self-organized. We work based on agile, having meetings with the whole team. We transmit our main ideas and some general guidelines, after which they work on all the functional and technical specifications. When those are agreed, they start development and deliver the package. We use the Atlassian suite—Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket. We have access to the code, for which do code reviews.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They always come up with new approaches when it comes to technical solutions. They’re professional, organized, and have never missed a deadline.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can't name anything specific.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Outsource the whole concept to Dood Software, not only the development part. They have a well-rounded team, from the managers to the testers. They can come up with great ideas, including on the business side.
