I’m the owner and CEO of a software provider. Our software administers seminars our courses, training needs for our clients so they can manage seminars, participants, venues, and speakers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Digitalya OPS?

Digitalya Ops is my software provider and helped create our software.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They do everything from project management to development and quality management support. We provided them with wireframes and mockups ahead of time. They built everything from scratch and used React Native and MySQL as a database.

What is the team composition?

Four people are fully dedicated to my team. My main point of contact was Madalina (Digital Marketing Manager).

How did you come to work with Digitalya OPS?

I did a case study and did research on Google. I’ve worked with companies in Bulgaria for many years, so I was used to working with offshore development companies. They were a young company and I liked their spirit. They put a lot of effort into educating their team and gave young people the chance to learn new skills on-site and during each project. They can also provide support in Italian, French, English, and German, which is important since we’re based in Switzerland.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $250,000 USD.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in April 2014 and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

 I am very satisfied with their work. I got better work than I ever expected. We’ve also recently received some positive feedback from users. It’s high-quality software, from both the UI perspective and when it comes to the backend technology.

Digitalya OPS is very dedicated and engaged with the project. It feels like they’re employees for my own company. The team is really top-notch; they know how to use the latest and best technology. They come up with even better ideas than I expected.

In the beginning, I had to define quality standards, but they picked it up quickly. For example, I said the delete button should be labeled the same and located in the same spot on each page.

How did Digitalya OPS perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Jira and Atlassian. We have a weekly call that usually takes about two hours, and we record all of our notes. This really helps us work going forward because we have very few questions.  It’s very convenient to work with them because the time difference is only an hour for us. We’re in constant contact over Skype and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have great communication skills. Usually, that’s an issue with offshore companies. Since they speak many different languages, that’s never an issue.

I also like the precision and quality they provide. I’m absolutely willing to pay what they ask, because I know I’m getting a high-end product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish they would provide more tech services. For example, I want to develop a mobile app, and they don’t have the skills in-house for that project. I’d love to work with the same team.

The app is an API framework based in the cloud that plugs into the APIs of several social commerce platforms as well as affiliate networks. There’s some custom built technology around certain e-commerce sites such as Wix, Woo Commerce, WordPress and Shopify.

How did you come to work with Digitalya OPS?

I found them on a site that collaborated with a lot of freelance developers. They gave a very thorough proposal with references and a previous portfolio along with a competitive quote. They had a lot of interest in what we were doing.

How much have you invested with Digitalya OPS?

We have spent between $10,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working them in March 2016 and it took three months to build the initial product. We kept them on retainer for several months to help debug and take the product live. We’re still engaged with them to do enhancements on the app.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We’ve gotten feedback from people that have been really impressed with the user interface/user experience. We have gotten the code independently audited and stress tested and everyone is very happy.

How did Digitalya OPS perform from a project management standpoint?

Our point of contact was Ovi, who is the owner. Ovi was extremely professional to work with. We communicated almost daily. When we stressed urgency in some features, he worked accordingly. They were always able to meet deadlines. He had a team of nine developers working on the project.

What did you find most impressive about Digitalya OPS?

Their communication was one of their strengths. Their cost has always been more than fair. We’ve always had confidence in their team.

Are there any areas Digitalya OPS could improve?

Sometimes they try to roll things out too quickly and might sacrifice a quality check to do so. I find things that they have to go back and fix.
