I’m the principal of Todd Company public relations and marketing. We’re based in Dallas/Ft. Worth. We serve clients primarily in Dallas/Ft. Worth in marketing, public relations, and creative services. Houk Air Conditioning, one of the largest HVAC contractors in Dallas/Ft. Worth is our client. We’ve represented Houk Air Conditioning for three years.

What challenge were you trying to address with Digital Success?

We needed help with SEO to get higher rankings on organic search on Google.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Digital Success did all of the organic work. We do PPC, but they don’t manage that - we do that internally. We wanted more organic click-throughs, higher presence, and a higher ranking on Google. That doesn’t happen overnight. They presented a plan and orchestrated that plan for three plus years to perfection.

What is the team dynamic?

In the three years that we’ve worked with them, it’s been the same team members, which is really unusual for this business. It’s a huge advantage. Their service is the best of our third party members. In marketing, having a team you can depend on and trust that you know will produce results is really invaluable. They’re very dependable, very consistent, very service oriented, and highly motivated. We trust everything that they say that they’ll do. That’s worth every penny of our agreed-to fee.

How did you come to work with Digital Success?

When we were hired by Houk Air Conditioning, Digital Success was already onboard, handling their SEO. So we took over management of that monthly process. We did a pretty comprehensive review of their capabilities and the results and pricing. We compared that to some of the other SEO providers that we’ve worked with in the past. We chose to stay with Digital Success and I’m glad that we did.

We’ve been working together in March 2014 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve kept us in the top five rankings organically with HVAC search in Dallas/Ft. Worth. That’s hard to do because it’s a very competitive industry. They are highly skilled with their monthly reporting. There’s a lot of metrics that they provide. They’re big on mobile search. The reporting they provide includes more than just ranking. It’s click-throughs and impressions and a wide variety of metrics.

The owners of the company will tap in on Google for terms like "air conditioner repair in Dallas." If they don’t pop up on the first page, then they call me. They haven’t called me in over two years. The mobile search is the biggest trend. They keep on top of that and keep up with Google’s constant changes in the way that they do their rankings. They’re very good at that. Our mobile presence has definitely increased in the last year through their strategies.

How did Digital Success perform from a project management standpoint?

They are very highly service-oriented. We communicate by email and phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s not just that their skills and results that are impressive, but their consistency, the trust factor, and the fact that they’re service oriented.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No.

Do you have any advice for other people looking to hire clients in this field?

Do not make any long-term commitments over six months before they’re able to prove their results. Look closely at the reporting and the metrics. They are very important, both in the way that they’re presented and the way that they’re tracked.
