client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Browne Group is a kitchenware and food hospitality company. We have been designing, creating, and developing products for about 70 years. We have two sides to our business – one is retail and the other is food service.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Digilite?
We have been doing B2B for 70 years. We had never done B2C, and we were interested in promoting the B2C channel for one of our private labels. Usually, we distribute other brands. However, when we launched our private label, we were interested in having our own channel.
We did have a website where we were uploading the products as a catalog. We were trying to decide whether to do a whole redesign or change the whole online catalog to an e-commerce website.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
They did the whole development for us. The platform is on Shopify. We were in a rush with the project, and I gave them wireframes and clear expectations. They’re also doing marketing for us.
What is the team composition?
I have worked with three people but I coordinate mostly with one person who is the co-founder of the company.
How did you come to work with Digilite?
Their office is very close to our office. We wanted someone that could visit us and be more available for us to help in the initial stage. After one or two calls, they started working on our project.
How much have you invested in them?
Our investment was around $18,000. For marketing, the overall budget including paid ads is around $10,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
The initial conversations with them happened in January 2020, and we worked with them until April 2020.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
When we launched the website, we were not expecting sales. We wondered about the number of bugs we would get and were concerned if people got stuck, but customers are able to order without issue. I haven’t faced any challenges, and even during my initial launch, we did a bit of consumer profiling and everyone loved the output and the whole layout, so I think that was good. They were very flexible.
How did Digilite perform from a project management standpoint?
They are very professional and deliver on time. they are highly proactive and supportive. My project was very small, so we didn’t need to use any project management tools. We just used Excel to keep track. We used email and phone calls to communicate. They were very available.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are very supportive, and they really want you to grow, and you can see that in the partnership. They gave very honest feedback, and they never tried to upsell us. The entire team was happy to help me even after our engagement ended.
They’re personally invested in delivering high-quality work. They spend a lot of time making sure the design looks good. They are very emotionally invested.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think if they could take a little more time to find economical solutions. Overall, they have been great.
