A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a startup that builds a framework of benefits for corporate employees and digital nomads.
What challenge were you trying to address with Devista?
We needed their design and development expertise for our web application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Devista developed our web application with a customized CMS that allowed us to maintain and update the website internally. They also designed the site’s UX/UI. Site users can create accounts and log in to access discounted prices. Users can access benefits at full price if they are not in our system.
We met internally to plan the project and then went to Devista’s offices to meet the developers. They completed the project in 5–6 sprints of front- and backend development, guiding us and prototyping along the way.
The CMS administrative dashboard allowed us to create roles and accounts, approve and edit locations, and manage the web app’s APIs, including Google Analytics for tracking statistics and an insurance API.
Devista is helping us migrate our servers from Linode to AWS for free and ensuring that there are no bugs.
What is the team composition?
Zaher (Co-Founder & Business Developer) was the technical lead, and we also worked with a business analyst and four developers.
How did you come to work with Devista?
I went to university with some of the Devista teammates, and we met again at a business gathering in 2021. We put this project out to bid and spoke to multiple companies. Devista was a good fit because they were a young startup like us, and they were one of the few Romanian companies that used agile methodologies.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent €44,500 (approximately $48,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in July 2022 and concluded the project in December 2022. Devista continues to provide additional support to us at no additional cost.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The CMS and web app are up and running and reached all the metrics we were hoping for. The CMS had no technical bugs; there were only a few glitches we needed to address from a business perspective, which Devista fixed within 1–3 days.
How did Devista perform from a project management standpoint?
Devista delivered everything on time and as planned using Scrum methodology. They worked really quickly and started helping us even before we signed a contract with them. They managed the project in Jira.
We continue to have weekly meetings and communicate through phone calls, email, and WhatsApp.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Everything about Devista is impressive. We hit it off from the beginning and were on the same page about everything. They loved my product, and the team was so happy to work on it. I felt like the luckiest client alive; they were great developers.
They didn’t only help with what I requested; they came up with the next steps on their own and designed better solutions than I could’ve imagined. For example, if I told them I needed a car to be blue, they would probably find a better color that still has blue in it. I could ask them to put soda in a glass, and they’d find a fancy way to do it.
Devista definitely has my heart, and I’d recommend them to anyone in need of developers. I’ve already recommended them multiple times.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they handled the project perfectly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I’d accept bids from multiple vendors and have a discussion with Devista before the start of the project.
The web app Devista built had no bugs and reached all the metrics the client wanted. Devista’s developers came up with creative solutions and made requested changes in 1–3 days. They used Scrum methodology and managed the project in Jira. Phone calls, email, and WhatsApp facilitated communication.
