I’m the CEO of two companies. The first is a fashion brand that makes leather handbags and has annual revenue streams of over $5 million; the second is a recently launched financial services company.

We wanted to increase our inbound traffic and sales with content marketing, SEO, and PR. We also had three banner goals that we wanted to hit in six months: first, position our team and brand as industry experts using PR; second, outrank our competition for our target keywords on Google; and third, set a consistent marketing strategy that brings in results.

My team shortlisted and reached out to six different marketing agencies in New York. The founders at Demand Roll were the only ones who wanted to begin by delving into our business goals to ensure we had the right strategy; all of the other agencies said they’d do whatever we told them to. The decision to go with Demand Roll was easy once we also saw their past work and the results that they had provided to similar brands.

Demand Roll’s founders did a two-day intensive workshop. We could have done it remotely and within just half a day, but we decided to take them up on their offer to do a thorough analysis of our business goals and long-term plans.

After the workshop, they created a comprehensive marketing plan and execution playbook for us. Once we approved, they began executing the plan. The team has done SEO and PR.

We began seeing measurable success two weeks into the marketing plan’s execution. Demand Roll’s SEO and PR work have increased our fashion brand’s sales from $600,000–$2.8 million in one year. We set a high goal and would’ve been happy achieving half of it, but Demand Roll over-delivered on their promise. They have surpassed our expectations by a long shot.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The team is very easy to work with. They are local, so we often meet with them in-person. Our responsive and timely account manager provides weekly updates and monthly reports that contain insights and strategy adjustment suggestions. The founders are very hands-on and do all of the strategy and operational management. At the end of each month, my team has a call with them to discuss results, strategy, and other approaches to hitting our business goals.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Demand Roll did not just execute; they took a deep dive into our business to create a strategy that would get us from point A to point B the fastest. They’ve helped us avoid many pitfalls, thereby saving us a lot of time and money. Demand Roll executes our digital marketing strategy and provides monthly recommendations on how to improve our content and SEO strategy. They work with us to figure out which key performance indicators (KPIs) we should measure, which helps us establish benchmarks to work toward.

In addition, they’ve worked on various other campaigns, including several that we plan to launch soon. This has involved supporting our Google Analytics, running paid ads, creating content, and getting backlinks.

We speak with the co-owners frequently and have daily interactions with the account and digital managers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Demand Roll has optimized our digital marketing funnel throughout their involvement to increase conversions. We continually reach our benchmarks and have to set new ones. More people are reading our content, which has increased their time on our pages while decreasing the bounce rate.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our collaboration has been seamless; they stay on top of projects from start to finish. Whenever we have too many ideas, they help reel our processes back to keep us on target at a good pace. They meet deadlines well in advance without sacrificing quality.

As for project management tools, we use Google Docs effectively to track progress and keep the entire team updated. Everyone knows what is going on and can answer questions within minutes as needed.

We started with a kick-off meeting where we communicated our business objectives via a unique process they use with all their clients. Then, they created a custom marketing strategy that laid out their exact playbook and execution methods, meaning we could drive it in-house if we chose to. We decided to let them take over, however, since they'd done this many times before and we lacked the in-house capabilities.

What was the team composition?

The founders of the company are involved in the day-to-day execution and are very hands-on. They also handled the kickoff meeting and run the monthly strategy. We also have a dedicated senior strategist we can regularly communicate with. One of the reasons we chose Demand Roll was that their entire team is based in New York, so we're working directly with them, instead of with outsourced freelancers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

In the past four months, they’ve gotten us press features and hundreds of high-authority backlinks and created tower content pieces that drive target prospects into our funnel. Since SEO takes time to show results, they also started a cold email outreach campaign to gain us instant traction.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Since they're based in the US, communication is easy. They also have a strong process in place that provides weekly and monthly updates. On monthly calls with their senior executives, we re-evaluate strategies and make adjustments based on the previous month's insights.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their focus on helping us achieve business success is amazing. Rather than blindly executing what we hand them, they help us avoid pitfalls. This also extends beyond our marketing efforts to other business areas. Their founders truly understand the value of putting $1 in and getting $1+ out.

We’ve also developed a significant amount of trust in them. They always do the right thing that results in a positive ROI for us. We consider them to be partners in our business and not just an agency we hired.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Deferred pricing would be a nice option. They’re well worth the premium they charge, but I wish they’d taken some equity in our business in exchange for a lower monthly fee.
