Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the digital marketing manager for a company that sells portable solar power stations and generators.
What challenge were you trying to address with Demand IQ?
Our business was young when we hired them. We were ramping up or digital marketing efforts from ground zero. So, our team needed to get all our desired channels up and running. We brought them in to grow our business through these processes.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We started out with email marketing, building out a few funnels. Following that, we launched Facebook Ads campaigns, and their team was 100% in control of those. Later in our relationship, we started working with them on ads through Google, Amazon, and Bing. However, our primary focus was on our Google and Facebook advertising. Once we had everything set up, we set goals based on the return on ad spend.
What is the team composition?
Primarily, we communicated with two team members who managed the project. There were others working on our account as well.
How did you come to work with Demand IQ?
Our CEO made initial contact with them. We saw a fit because they had positioned themselves as digital marketing experts in the solar industry. It was easy to see a connection there. In our early conversations with them, they understood our product and industry very well. It was a no-brainer because of his expertise.
How much have you invested with them?
In total, we spent about $200,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from June 2018–December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were hoping to achieve a minimum of 250% return on our investment. They were able to maintain a 300% or greater return throughout the entire relationship. Our ability to grow our audience and traffic across multiple verticals was definitely strengthened with their help.
After learning about our product, they were able to suggest and propose new audience demographics to target. For instance, they recommended that we market our products to people who like tailgating at sports events. We’d never thought about doing that before. It’s now one of our most successful Facebook campaigns. They get all the credit for that idea and campaign.
How did Demand IQ perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re a very hands-on, responsive team that’s always willing to bounce ideas back and forth with us. When working with other, larger agencies, I’ve noticed slower lines of communication through email. However, they’re always available to brainstorm with me whether it’s over email, text, or phone call. They’re always quick to adjust campaigns and budget according to our needs as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their project management style and ability to consistently achieve goals they set were most important.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything major. It may be beneficial to consider adjusting their management fees to be a bit more competitive in the industry.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you understand your digital marketing channels and where you want to take them. As long as you have that framework built and can clearly present your ideas to them, you’ll have no problems working with Demand IQ.
