    Our Story

    Deep Purple was founded in 2024 by Brian Egan, building on 13 years of software delivery as Purpledecks. Our team has built software for RTÉ, Centra, ResMed, Sage, and dozens of others. We are not a company that pivoted to AI when ChatGPT launched. We have been building with machine learning, computer vision, and intelligent systems throughout our careers. Brian studied neural networks at DCU in the late 1990s. Barry holds an MSc in Machine Learning from UCD. We build AI because we always have.

    We work in phases so you can stop at any stage and still walk away with something valuable. Discovery and assessment. This is where most clients start. We visit your business, understand your operations, and identify where AI can genuinely help. Discovery takes 2-4 weeks and costs from €5,000 total. Most Discovery engagements qualify for LEO or Enterprise Ireland grant funding, bringing the client cost down to as low as €1,250. Proof of concept. If Discovery identifies a strong opportunity, we build a small working prototype to prove the technology works in your environment. This is how we validate before committing to a full build. Typically 4-8 weeks and €8,000-€15,000. Full build. Custom AI software designed and built for your business. Timelines range from 8-16 weeks depending on complexity. Costs typically range from €20,000 to €75,000. Most builds qualify for Enterprise Ireland grant funding covering 50% of costs. Ongoing support. After delivery, we offer retained advisory and support from €1,500 per month. The key point is that you do not need to commit to a full build upfront. Start with Discovery. If AI is not the right fit for your business, we will tell you honestly and you will have spent €1,250 to find that out.

He studied neural networks at Dublin City University in the late 1990s, was awarded a Marie Curie Research Fellowship by the European Commission, and has founded five technology companies including Purpledecks (12 years of software delivery), Reactable AI (autonomous AI platform), and Mapall (fibre optic network intelligence). Brian leads every client relationship from Discovery through to delivery. Barry Gough is our CTO. He holds an MSc in Computer Science from University College Dublin with a core focus on machine learning. He has 16 years of experience building production software systems. As CTO of Reactable AI, he architected one of Ireland's earliest production deployments of autonomous AI agents. At Deep Purple, Barry leads all technical delivery including AI system architecture, ML model development, and data pipeline engineering. He also manages our PhD-level data science team. You work directly with the people doing the work. That is a deliberate choice. We believe the quality of the engagement depends on the seniority and experience of the people in the room.

    Yes. We are based in Longford, Ireland and work with clients locally, nationally, and internationally. In Ireland, we work with businesses across every region. Our grant funding expertise covers LEO Digital for Business, Enterprise Ireland, Invest NI (for Northern Ireland clients), InterTradeIreland (for cross-border projects), IDA, and other programmes. In the UK, we deliver projects across Northern Ireland and the wider UK. Our delivery model works well remotely, with on-site visits for Discovery and key project milestones. Internationally, our Reactable AI product has paying customers across five continents. We welcome international consulting and software development clients, though we do not actively target international markets through advertising. International clients typically come through referrals or find us through our published content. Our team has delivered software internationally throughout our careers, including projects for Vodafone Global, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Hutchison 3G, Qualcomm, Resmed and other multinational clients.

    Yes. We build custom software that integrates with whatever systems you already use. For manufacturing and production businesses, we integrate with existing ERP systems, production databases, quality management systems, and manufacturing execution systems. If you have existing camera or sensor hardware from providers like Keyence or Cognex, we can build custom AI software that works with your installed equipment. We are a software company, not a hardware company. We do not sell cameras or sensors. If your project needs specialist hardware, we bring in the right partners so you get one complete system. For construction and field services, our mobile applications are designed to work offline in areas with poor connectivity and sync data when connection is restored. They integrate with existing project management, payroll, and reporting systems. For businesses using tools like Sage, Xero, Salesforce, HubSpot, or custom databases, we build AI-powered integrations that connect your existing data to new intelligent capabilities without replacing the tools your team already knows. We always start by understanding what you have before proposing what to build. We will never suggest replacing systems that are working well. We build on top of what exists.
