The scope of work covered the end-to-end design and delivery sales platform, a modern, intuitive, and secure solution supporting InterRisk’s agents and sales managers in their daily operations. Decerto was responsible for building the system architecture, implementing its proprietary Higson engine, and ensuring seamless integration with InterRisk’s existing ecosystem. The project also included comprehensive testing and automation.

Key deliverables included:

•Development of the IRON platform from scratch – modern microservices architecture based on Java 21 and Kubernetes.
•Implementation of Higson as the central product configuration and rating engine, enabling business-led changes without IT involvement.

The project encompassed multiple areas, addressing both property and life insurance sectors, and required close coordination between various teams. Decerto managed the work across several groups responsible for different key aspects:

1. Delivering applications to enable lead management for Warta's entire sales network.
2. Integrating these applications with our Agent Portal (eAgent) to seamlessly connect the sales process with lead management.
3. Ensuring smooth integration with the Salesforce platform, enabling real-time migration of lead data from CRM campaigns to support our agents and sales network.

The project was executed using an Agile approach, with functionalities delivered iteratively in phases. Decerto played a crucial role throughout the process, taking responsibility for business and process analysis, UX mockups, documentation, development, and testing. Their involvement from start to finish ensured a smooth and efficient implementation.

By streamlining workflows for agents and managers, the system allows them to better plan their activities, optimize their time, and ultimately improve sales performance. The CRM solution helps us build stronger, more lasting relationships with customers, translating into higher loyalty and satisfaction.

Our Customer Relations Department, emphasizes that working with CRM-generated leads enables agents to tailor their approach more effectively. They gain insights into customer needs, with all key information available in one place, giving agents a comprehensive view of each client's preferences. Each lead represents an opportunity for deeper engagement, fostering trust and strengthening relationships. 

Additionally, CRM suggestions within the eAgent platform further increase agents' chances of closing sales.

The project began with the design of functional screens of individual places of the application. After the mock-ups were approved, the process analysis phase began. In parallel, an integration analysis phase was carried out. The project is conducted in an agile methodology. 2 week sprints ended with tests and acceptances. The whole project was carried out remotely.

In case of company acquisition: Migrate insurance products, business processes and legacy data from one company architecture to the other. The legacy data was of insufficient quality and it had to be repaired. The business transaction balance should be in line.

Many years of cooperation and experience in similar projects. High knowledge of life insurance systems.

Initially, legacy and target business processes and data had to be analyzed to find the way of migrating products, processes and customer and policy data. Then a migration project had to be prepared. In general idea and in details also. Each process and object has been analyzed field by field. There was developed dedicated custom tool for data migration, which: Import legacy data Validate legacy data Fix legacy data Transform it to the target model Export data to target system Prepare a migration raport There was several dozen test and trial migration run.

There was long technical and business tests of the migrated data. Finally the final migration into production environment was done. On every stage of the project there was cooperation between Decerto team and Generali team. Many technical and business decisions had to be made. Many business plans and goals depended on the success of this project. It was very important to keep the balance sheet of financial transactions of the migrated data.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Migration was done on time within one weekend. There was no serious errors and missing. All business processes began to be handled without difficulty in the normal scheduled mode. We did not lost any data and most of it get higher quality and consistency. The balance sheet of financial transactions was kept in line.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The Decerto team worked in our office and we have been working in daily cooperation mode. Even though it was two teams, we worked as if it were one team. Both at the management and development level. Communication and mutual understanding was a fundamental factor of success.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Decerto coped with a very difficult project. Consultants performed his duties conscientiously. They knew the details of data and processes very thoroughly. They understood our business processes and the specifics of our company very well. They made it on time without a single day shift.

We have made wide market check (USA, PL, Europe) - both in terms of box sollutions and sel-made items. Hyperon - box sollution of Decerto had very good references from the market, additionally we knew that we can adopt it easily towards our individual requirments. Value for money was also attractive. As time of implementation was important - Hyperon was best fit.

We improved time to market for tariff changes, no IT is needed for implementation of new functions / discounts / parameters.

We communicated through online / Teams & Webex mostly, plus tasks in JIRA. Cooperation was very smooth, Decerto was always good at analyzing the potential impact, suggesting risks and improvement areas for the platform. Out of 4 vendors only 2 met deadlines - Decerto among them.

High level of advise; close to consultancy,; solid experience in our (insurance) industry - what strongly and positively influenced cooperation; high quality of employees (proactive, engaged, experienced, eager to help).

We achieved our initial goals and significantly enhanced this solution. Atlassian stack is now a backbone of our software development process and internal communication. During this time, we defined many additional small goals and targets, and Decerto team achieved all of them.

We aggregate offers from different banks. This offers frequently changes, usually with short notice, so we has to respond very quickly with changes in an offer but also sales process. During preparation to project we dedcided to hire highly-qualified experts from Decerto to take a part in development of new tool supporting us in that everyday work.

We cosidered Decerto along with 6 other vendors. Our goal was to find highly-qualified specialist with differnt skill to developers team. Decerto presented a lot of well fitted person in competitive price. In additional Decerto presented Hyperon studio, which could be applied to manage offers definitions.

As a methodology SCRUM was chosen to ensure tight cooperation between business and developers. We started with discovery workshop to prepare analysis and interface mockups. After preparation step development started concurrent with environment definition. In middle-time we took decision about use Hyperon Studio from Decerto instead Camunda or Drools.

After 6 months the software was ready for first public release, following 3 months team was focused on delivering the rest of planned functionalities but also quickly responding to real users’ feedback on how a system should work.

There were 5 people in the core team, including teach lead with back-end skills, 2 other back-end developers, dev ops and automatic tester. Other resources were delivered by other vendors. Product Owner and Scrum Master were chosen directly from NOTUS resources.

The final project result is a system that:

• Can be configured by the sales manager on the customer side
• Have elastic configuration range
• Is intergarted with other used in company systems like CRM,
• Have REST API which could be used in future intergrations,
• Clients data is provided only once to fill in several bank applications
• Have client portal,
• Allows sending required documents online in GPDR compliant way
• And from business scope: significant drop in time to service one customer

The project management was a challenge. At the beginning we had members from different vendors who didn't know so many about mortgages. Work was organized in 2-week sprints and team worked in our office. To communcate we used Slack and GitLab. There was many issues which complicated our jobs, including COVID-19.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Communication between Decerto members and care around them by their Company was impressive. Their technical prowess was confirmed during the work and it reminded us why we chose them in the first place.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not every goal was achieved during project, i.e. complete documentation or full CI/CD implementation. Few deliverables was removed from primary scope due to delays in the exceution of tasks without significant impact to final product.

Our sales path was almost complete digital, but in the end, we needed a customer signature. Due to COVID-19, we quickly needed the ability to conduct all sales digitally. The goal was to create an additional step in our sales to ensure that the customer was who he claimed to be and got acquainted with the insurance scope and terms & conditions.

Decerto is our constant IT supplier. We had a good track record of past successful projects. Time was critical here, but we couldn't compromise on quality. I was sure that Decerto would deliver both time and quality.

The first step was a joint analysis of our law department and the Decerto specialist of technical possibilities and law requirements. We agreed on the business process that then Decerto has implemented. The main deliverable was a new customer portal. The client logs in to that Portal using data delivered to him via email, checks insurance scope, terms & conditions, accepts the new agreement and then is forwarded to fast digital payment. The Portal track each customer step for future evidence purposes.

The solution was very well received. 90% of users rate it good or very good and would recommend it to their friends. Every day we finalize several thousand transactions through the customer portal.

Projects was delicered in scrum methodology. Decerto delivered the software from scratch but agreed to have also our programmers in the team (to let us more effective knowledge transfer).

There were up to 12 people onboard - mainly programmers, supported by analytic/testers and experienced insurance expert in main analytic role. Size of the team has changed over time because Decerto was very commited to delivery date and wanted to speed up software delivery

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Software built by Decerto is curently the most open for configuration Group Sales platform in polish market. Although at the beginning our sales force received system as complicated - after few improvements it was accepted and is used every day. GOP system gave us opportunity to switch from difficult to maintain and change offline caluclators to very modern online system which is main tool in group insurances

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Both parties tried to work according to Agile agreeement which promoted timely delivery. As in all scrum projects - scope of the project was briefly described on a high level. Both parties tried to manage details to:

1. achieve main goal (MBP)
2. include critical changes apeeared while project delivery
3. deliver on time and in cost

What did you find most impressive about this company?

In my opinion the most impressive in Decerto is their flexibility and customer focus. They were focused not only on the deadline and scope but also on building something they would be proud of.

Are there any areas for improvement?

In all complex software delivery projects there are areas for improvement. In my opinion in GOP project there were lack of medium term delivery date perspective monitoring while project as both vendor and our team were focused mainly on nearest 2-3 sprints
