Dear Clutch, We would like to inform you that we had a bad experience with DCUBE. They have built us a code and after payment that code was dysfunctional. We tried to communicate with them but they have blocked us. It’s very sad and unfortunate for us, because we are a startup and we lost so much money. We have hired a lawyer in India now to claim our money. The further devastating part is that they have posted our logo/app on their website without our permission. We are very hurt and devastated. We hope no other client or startup goes through what we went through.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

DCUBE built us an app that does not work. We only found out after final payment. They also blocked us. We have no access to them. We lost our business and the co founder ended up in the ER for 3 days as it was a big loss for us. We lost so much money. I could not bear to see my friend (co founder) this way, So I sold my car to hire a new developer to re build us the app. I had to keep going.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

there was only 2 people. it started effective but later on they were trying to finish the app quickly. We were not sure why they were rushing. At the end they demanded final payment in order to release the code. After we paid, the app was not working.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

in the beginning they were nice and effective, but later on they changed a lot. They keep demanding release of payments. We had many questions about the app, but they kept saying "we know better on development, and your questions do not make sense." So, we agreed and waited. We had faith, and said to ourselves lets wait and see how the app turns out. After final payment, we tried the app and realized all UIs do not work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Yes, there are areas for improvement. I want to tell DCUBE the following: Please pray to God to help you be better people. Ripping people off will not give you a good life. You might make quick cash, but in the long run, God will not make you rich. Put your self in the shoes of clients. You took our dream away and crashed every hope we had. We hope God forgives you.

The app is highly sophisticated and intelligent. Every place in the world has a story. Pingster connects users to imagery through the GPS location of their phones. It delivers images all over the world and connects all our users to each other. We needed a team who understood iOS and Android and had significant experience with GPS.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I provided the initial architecture and they designed the entire mobile app, top to bottom. They built native apps for both iOS and Android. They’ve been the backbone and brains of the whole development process. We couldn’t have done it without them.

We are about to launch the app in the next few weeks. It’s really taken on a life of its own and we’re confident it will be the next big photo-sharing app. It’s totally revolutionary and our audience is excited for the launch.

Their communication is impeccable. We have weekly conference calls on Skype and email each other regularly. We also track changes via Google Sheets.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to find technology solutions for difficult problems is really strong. They have what it takes to get the job done. They’re really talented and have a strong work ethic. Their drive and brilliance are phenomenal.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t complain at all about the work they do. They could implement more tools to help communication in the development process but my experience has been grand.

If you want a good product and want to have things done right, use them. They work hard and have proven themselves again and again.

We wanted a team to help fix bugs and add a small but integral feature.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did a lot of bug fixes within our stack, which includes Meteor, Apollo, React, and MongoDB. They integrated controls into the stack to fix bugs and incorporated a key text function into our Paint API. Users can upload content and practice a whiteboard challenge on that API and the text function was essential. Their technical expertise impressed us.

We interfaced directly with a project manager. He oversaw the rest of the team on his side.

How did you come to work with Dcube Tech Ventures?

We found them on Upwork. They were conversant in English and had good communication skills. They finished a test project within the timeline so we moved forward with them on bug fixes and other projects.

We spent about $1,400.

We worked together for less than a month, starting in late April 2018. We’re almost done with the project on our end.

Everything works and there are no bugs. They did a solid job.

We battled the time difference. They tried to respond within a day or so but could have done better. We communicated mostly through Skype but could have used email more.

Their biggest strength is their diversity. They take on projects in a variety of stacks and programming languages.

Their responsiveness was a big issue.

Go for a fixed price instead of the hourly rate. They can be a little pushy, so make sure you give them a feature list that covers exactly what you need.

I’m a general manager of a startup company aiming to produce a social media app.

We needed development for our social media app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app will give many services to its users such as an eCamera tool where they can use augmented reality (AR) tools. It will be merged with location-based tools so users can find each other, add each other, and connect.

The app could not be created by a simple API or anything available on the market. Paras (Full Stack Developer, Dcube Tech Ventures) gave us insight into the app. They used Swift to develop the iOS app, which we found to be the most convenient and user-friendly tool to use. They used SketchAR for the back camera and a software development kit for the front that provides the AR. The Android portion was made using Android Studio. The website was made using PHP, MySQL, as well as Amazon Web Services. We organized an API and used Google Maps in a hybrid way which we will allow us to add our own buttons, and there will be an intuitive way of using the map.

We worked with Paras who is also a manager. He has great communication skills.

A friend of mine recommended them because they had worked with them before. We had been in touch with Paras more than once and had hours of calls discussing the app in great detail to make sure that they knew exactly what we needed and that they could deliver it. Dcube had previous experience with challenging AR of the camera. When we signed the contract with them, they showed us the demo of the work that had done, which they did a great job with.

We have given it to a lot of test users, and so far, the work has been very reliable and solid. The company has a lot of knowledge when it comes to usability. They find the bugs and any issues themselves and don’t need us to point them out.

How did Dcube Tech Ventures Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

The time management is pretty reasonable for the job at hand. They allocate extra time to avoid any disappointment. We mainly communicate through Skype, but they are also open to communication through WhatsApp calls. They are always available whenever we contact them. We also use email for file sharingand a project management tool which helps us to keep track of hours logged and work produced.

Paras was always open to our feedback and ideas, he never tried to suppress our creativity, and was very supportive of our app. With Dcube, anything was possible and they agreed to everything. They were true to their word. The design and colors they used for the UI/UX interface were very user-friendly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing is that they produced a world-class quality of work that is similar to some great apps that are currently in the AR market. They produce challenging projects, and they are open to learning in a constructive way and expanding their knowledge. They are the best you can find in the Indian market.

Are there any areas they could improve?

So far, no.

Always make sure your requirements are clear and have everything in writing as anyone can miss details. As long the client is organized, the company will be organized. There should always be good communication and feedback between the client and developers.

I knew nothing about web development, and hiring an Australian web developer was expensive. I decided to outsource my web application development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

After I designed exactly what I wanted on PowerPoint, they have developed my custom web application. I wanted everything to flow properly. They've brought it to life.

They added a life chat feature, which allows users to send questions directly to my mobile phone. It’s accessible on iOS and Android. They built pages for registration and feedback. I also created a blog and a YouTube channel, where they uploaded videos. As people go on the journey, videos of me pop up. We have made the whole program really interactive.

The website was launched in July 2017. As I come up with new ideas, they add more to my website.

They've been awesome because they walk me through the process from start to finish. Now I understand how WordPress websites work. They have taught me about plugins and showed me how to change the WordPress backend myself.

I held a competition to give away 10 free memberships to my website. Everyone had good feedback and said the content was good. I haven’t had any issues.

They’ve been great. We found a good workflow. I use bullet points to list the changes I wanted, and they mark them complete. We mainly use Facebook because it’s easiest for me. We’ve spoken on the phone and Skyped a couple of times.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I love that, after I tell them what I need, they just get it done and explain it. It gives me power with my program. Instead of just taking my money and running, they educate me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The time difference is the only difficult thing. I've had a lot of late nights.

Know what you want and be clear. I give them directions about things I want, taking screenshots and showing them examples. Keep it thorough and easy to follow.

I’m the CTO of a company that manufactures electronic products that enable industrial automation, controlling, and maintenance equipment; that is, products for the Internet of Things.

What challenge were you trying to address with Dcube?

We needed help with updating our website and building our online store where we sell electronic products. The previous site was around 15 years old with outdated style and technology. We used them for this store, as well as for writing code for our devices.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Dcube gave us an idea of what systems we could use. We determined what could work for us over a 2–3 month period.

They developed our WordPress website, which also uses other technologies. We have over 2,000 products in our store. Many of them have multiple choices to customize the products for our users.

We also have a community where people can contribute questions, thoughts, and projects. It’s an important part of our website. There is also a learning section where we post tutorials and other educational tools.

We worked with their project manager and one other resource. They have developers and other staff in place.

We started working with them about three years ago on smaller projects and continued to work with them to build our website.

We started working with Dcube in February 2016 on website upgrades. The newest version of our website has been live for six months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our Alexa website ranking used to be around one million worldwide. We’re currently around the 400,000th position. Our traffic almost doubled.

The site is also easier to maintain, given that it’s using newer technologies and tools. Previously, we had to depend on a developer to do everything for us, but anyone can make changes on the current website.

Due to the time difference, we had to wait until the next day for items like bug fixes. We used email and Skype for most of the communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They can identify ways of making new and old technologies work. They helped us create prototypes based on our ideas. This would have been impossible to do locally because of costs, and it has helped us a lot.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be much better if projects were laid out during the first few meetings.

The more documented a project is, the better. It’s much better for everything to be documented beforehand when working remotely.
