Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a law firm and I’m the director of the legal and tech part of the business. I’m also partly responsible for some of the sales and marketing strategies.
What challenge were you trying to address with David Fei?
The reason for engaging David Fei was to basically set up our digital marketing strategy.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The project is to internally embark on a more complex digital marketing strategy. Our approach to marketing has been quite basic in the past, and our personal marketing team has built our brand for years. We relied mostly on word of mouth so we needed to step up and do some things we’ve never done or even looked at before — such as paid marketing campaigns.
We needed an expert to come in externally to do an audit, make recommendations, put strategies in place, and help us implement those. David (Consultant) came in as an independent consultant who’s got a lot of experience and he does exactly what we ask him to. He got up to speed and understood our business, our market, our challenges, and what we’re trying to do.
He made really strong recommendations on what to do for the first six months such as strategies around paid search and how to maintain display campaigns on various channels. For the last 6–7 months, David has been paramount to setting up our brand, using both his technical skills and marketing skills to get it running.
In addition, even though he’s an independent consultant, he has a good network of providers with skills that complement his. David is really honest about the things he wouldn’t be able to do for us, so he recommends us to vendors that could.

I only work with David.
How did you come to work with David Fei?
I followed up on references from a personal friend of mine, who had worked with David in the past. David’s experience was exactly what we were looking for and he had the confidence that we needed.

It costs somewhere between $50,000–$100,000 AUD (approximately $37,200–$74,500 USD) to talk to David for this project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started talking to David in November 2020, and our partnership is still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
First and foremost, David is really personable, has a really good eye for design, honest, and upfront about his background. He has the confidence and clarity on the best practices, which he uses to advise us on what to do.
David has been the key driving force behind the significant ROI in both the financial aspect and perspective. Apart from that, we’ve seen an increase in traffic to our website, as well as a stark increase in leads coming into our business.
How did David Fei perform from a project management standpoint?
David performs fantastically. There are always clear lines of communication, he talks our language, and he’s always available. The legal industry has its nuances, but David picked up on it quickly and easily, even though he’s never really worked in the legal industry before. If I have an idea that I want to run by him, I’ll pick up the phone and he’s always available to talk to — he’s never afraid to tell me if something is a bad idea, and he doesn’t force his opinions.
We use Microsoft Planner and Project to communicate and manage the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed with David’s digital marketing expertise. I’m confident in his ability and knowledge to implement sound strategies from the ground up. Without prior experience in our industry, he gets what we’re trying to do and our challenges.
Are there any areas they could improve?
In terms of what we wanted, he’s absolutely delivered on everything, so there isn’t anything that he could improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would say that you need to have a clear objective of what you’re trying to achieve. If you don’t know how you’re going to get there, David will help you.
