We were looking to upgrade our field service solution for quite some time. With the onset of COVID, it became clear that the shift to a new and better system is imminent. We have been working with Salesforce CRM for two years now. Our technology team was keen on Salesforce Field Service Lightning. Damco facilitated data migration, FSL implementation, and ArcGIS integration.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We could stay operational and safe even in lockdown! COVID mapping gave field agents the insights on whether to take up a delivery or defer or try another route. They could bank upon the data provided and safely complete a delivery. Now, most of our field operations along with periodic reports are automatically scheduled.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Due to COVID, on site was not a choice anyway, so the development team was offshore. They were mostly available round the clock on Skype and mail, honoring our urgency.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I would say that the team was efficient, as we were on time even in the current situation.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No. We got more than what we wanted. They guided us right and are still supporting us.

The foremost goal was creating a coherent database from spreadsheets, emails, QuickBooks, etc. and migrate this database to Salesforce CRM.

The data was distributed in various platforms and it was not purely migration task. Most of the COTS plugins we checked would temper with data fields, as it was not uniform. Manipulation was needed for both parent and child records for uniformity. Damco standardized the database and migrated to Salesforce. They also validated the data post-migration.

Client called us to tell that they were able to save 10 hours a week in just accessing customer information. I feel it is huge for the beginning.

The development team was offshore. They were mostly available around the clock via phone or email. They held one-on-one sessions with our client in assessing their requirements and training them for the transition.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are patient and easily approachable.

In retrospect, we could have done it faster with more resources.

The foremost reaction came from hospital staff who found UI simple and elegant. Processes like report retrieval immediately became easier.

It was a hybrid onshore/offshore arrangement. Project Management was satisfactory. We have been associated with Damco and we share a good rapport.

Whenever we had issues like deadline slippage, they were able to get more people onboard.

We found Damco to be in line with our own team from a project management standpoint. Their team was composed of a project manager who interacted with two or three team leads, under which were the developers, software analysts, business process analysts, and QA specialists.

Damco didn’t deploy as many people as we would have wanted during the planning phase. This didn’t hamper us much, but there was a little slippage which could have been avoided.
