BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm POSITION in Mlekovita, the biggest dairy company in Poland, which is hiring over 2000 employees, have a 19 manufacturing plants and is selling our products in 159 countries.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire DAC.digital?

The main challenge of DAC was to develop a solution that can support our logistics activities and accelerate planning. Also, we wanted the solution to communicate with drivers and our logistics department. In all our production plants, we buy milk from several thousand farmers, which needs to be transported to the production plant.

Transport planning used to take us a lot of time so we contacted DAC with our idea of a solution that we would like to implement. During further works and workshops, the functionality of this solution has changed, but the core concept has been implemented.

What were your goals for this project?

The main goal was to create a MVP of solution that will help us to improve the milk transport planning process. We needed to analyze and optimize our drivers' routes to reduce fuel consumption and control the level of vehicle loading capacity.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We found DAC through a referral from a company which had used DAC services in the past. DAC received a strong recommendation as a business partner delivering excellent quality within a reasonable price range and have an innovative approach to every project and client. We also researched several other companies, but DAC was the perfect fit for us at that point.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The project had two stages:

  1. The preparation stage: we defined functionalities of the platform and the development of a prototype device with sensors. After the workshops that took place at the DAC headquarters, we received a scope of the project with cost and time estimation, schedule of work with sprints etc.
  2. Development stage: we wanted to develop an information system for assisting and monitoring the process of milk collection from a vast network of suppliers. We also wanted to eliminate possible fraud of suppliers. One of the main functionalities was to enable users to make full use of GPS technologies for route optimization and transport monitoring in rural areas not included in standard navigation systems.

The tools support drivers in steep terrain, facilitate dynamic reactions to the temporary unavailability of routes and reduce the risk and costs of fortuitous events. The ideal solution should aid the management of logistics processes, both in milk plants and in external transport companies.

What was the team composition?

My main point of contact was the project manager and CTO. In the beginning, we worked with seven to eleven developers. Now two to three developers are involved in the maintenance services.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We have been saving of up to 20% kilometers and 30% total cost. We saved 50% planning time. The system makes it possible to rotate drivers on the routes, and we have been lower by up to 80% the induction training time. Our platform allows our employee's fast access to all real-time information about transport: fleet time, supplier and recipient characteristics and locations, current stage of realization of the routes, position on the fleet and drivers.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The workflow was smooth and efficient. I have no complaints. We communicated through email, Google Hangouts and Skype calls, and everything was very well-organized. The team was responsive and helpful.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

There's been transparent communication throughout our relationship. DAC has a great team with many ideas on how to achieve their clients' business goals. The people who work there have excellent knowledge about technology and its applications in the industry. From the very beginning, we knew what purpose we want to achieve -they've built for us the entire product, software and hardware solution.

No. We got what we wanted, so we’re satisfied.

I am the CEO of the Eldro Group, which is a contractor for infrastructure construction, industrial installations, street lighting systems, and fiber-optic networks. We also work on the construction and modernization of power installations and telecommunication systems.

For what projects/services did your company hire DAC.digital?

We wanted to develop a platform for managing our maintenance activities combined with sensors monitoring the condition of our traffic lights devices.

What were your goals for this project?

This platform was supposed to allow us to manage the necessity of maintenance many traffic lights devices, help to reduce the costs of maintenance readiness and the costs of implementing new technical service contracts. We wanted to develop a solution to help us in the implementation of very demanding conditions of the Service Level Agreement and we also had to share the documentation from maintenance works of each device with the owner of the infrastructure.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

During proceeding with our platform, we have launched a tender for IT works. During negotiations about conditions of cooperation and goals with a few companies, DAC turned out as the most suitable technology partner. Since then, the scope of our collaboration has expanded significantly.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

With DAC, we have prepared a scalable architecture of the solution that the system works steadily with a very large number of connected devices. The platform has a couple of modules for managing service requests, limiting the time and costs associated with the implementation of requests. Panel to view the process of maintenance implementation in real-time. It automated technical service requests by connecting various types of traffic light controllers. Additionally, the DAC created a mobile application for service teams operating in the field, which helped them to facilitate the receipt of orders and reporting the status of work.

What was the team composition?

We contacting mainly with CTO and Project Manager but on the whole project worked 12 developers.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

First of all, now we have the possibility of new contracts in areas not available to us, before. We have reduced the maintenance costs by almost 30% and reduced the losses related to contract penalties for failure to meet the SLA conditions by over 75%.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Our cooperation assumed the development of the system from scratch - from concept to full functionality of the solution. The conceptual work went very smoothly. DAC gave us its know-how on how to create that type of solution and supported us in creating the scope of functionality. The people with whom we had the opportunity to work have a huge knowledge about IoT projects, so we were able to quickly create the scope of a platform that will be stable and will help us achieve all our business goals. The project is still being developed and as long as we decide to further develop our system, we will cooperate with DAC.

The most impressive aspect is the people who work at DAC and their knowledge of technological capabilities and how to lead them into business benefits.
