Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of Global Background Screening. We do background screening, mostly for employment but also for personal use.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CuriousCheck?

I’ve been in the background screening industry for about 25 years. The industry has changed a lot, which is one of the reasons I hired CuriousCheck. I used to do everything manually, and I just felt like technology was passing me by. I’m not very tech-oriented, so I needed somebody to help me with my whole infrastructure of how I was doing things. Additionally, someone in the Philippines had created a website for me. It was functional, but I wanted something more interactive and with e-commerce capabilities.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, they took my existing website and turned it into a powerhouse. They added e-commerce options that I’d never had before, so that people can go on the site, order their own stuff, check out, and pay, all in a very seamless process. They’ve also done SEO for me. 

What is the team composition?

I work with one person directly, but I’m not sure what’s happening in the background. The person I work with has been awesome.

How did you come to work with CuriousCheck?

I wasn’t actively looking for a company, but a friend told me that CuriousCheck had done wonders for them. I was leery about spending that kind of money without knowing the industry.    

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent $17,850 with them so far. We spent a chunk in the beginning to redo the website. Now, I believe it’s an ongoing monthly fee.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership began in September or October 2019, and it’s definitely ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since coming across CuriousCheck, they’ve really made my life so much easier. I used to do everything by cold calls, but with them, I’ve been able to just sit back and let stuff happen. It’s truly been amazing. It’s been a tremendous and truly life-changing partnership. I receive at least 10 calls every day from people looking at my site or going through the self-portal. It’s amazing what CuriousCheck has done and the exposure they’ve brought to us.

I had no traffic before working with them, and I didn’t even know what SEO was. I just talked to them this morning, and in 3–4 different categories, we’re on pages 1–4, depending on what the search is. We now have people writing blogs so we can rank for certain keywords. Depending on keywords, we’re on page one for some of the searches. I know a lot of people don’t move past page 1–2 on Google, so that’s my gage as to how we’re doing.

How did CuriousCheck perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via email, and then we have calls once a week or every week-and-a-half. They have communicated perfectly throughout the process. My contact tells us exactly what they’re going to be doing and if they need something from us, such as keywords they’re looking for or if we need to write a blog. The communication is wonderful, and the project has been handled flawlessly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I work with Carlos (Founder & CEO), and he’s friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. He has helped me understand some of the technology that I struggle with by talking in terms I can relate to. It’s been a really smooth process, and I’m grateful that I met them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Honestly, no. Carlos follows through. I have no complaints. They have done everything they’ve promised to do, and more.

Any advice for potential customers?

Look no further. I know a lot of people do research on multiple companies before hiring. Like I said, I wasn’t actively searching, so this kind of fell in my lap, and I’m glad it did. 

Call a couple of companies and see if you get that personable feel. A lot of people can be knowledgeable in this area, but I also wanted that personal touch with somebody I could relate to and speak with in everyday terms.
