We designed and developed a new B2C website for the Cormar Carpet Company, one of the UK’s largest carpet manufacturers.

We developed a bespoke software system for Family Holiday Association, a charity that helps struggling families who are experiencing challenging circumstances to experience breaks, days out or group trips. The system integrates functionality to provide an efficient and easy-to-use application process where personnel in supporting roles, for example a teacher or social worker, can refer a family for a holiday, short break or

‘day out’, many of which are kindly donated by hotels, campsites and tourist attractions. Since the platform launched in December 2017, over 8,000 families have enjoyed a short break or day out.

Following our work on the easyGym website, easyGym’s digital team approached us to design and develop a website for a new sub brand, PACK45. We aimed for bold, powerful and energetic in our design. A large video area on the homepage delivers an instant visual impact, whilst sharp colours combine with bold call to actions

encouraging users to register for a free trial.


 

Since we launched the easyGym website on Umbraco in 2019, the team at easyGym have decided to rebuild all their websites in Umbraco, citing its ease-of-use, SEO performance and flexibility when building new pages.

We built a new, responsive website for Travel Club Elite, an award-winning travel agency with more than 30 years’ ABTA membership. The website is developed on Umbraco - one of the world’s most popular content management systems, and the platform for over 400,000 websites. 

This gives the marketing team at Travel Club Elite the ability to easily manage and refresh the content on their website, thus providing an immersive

experience for users. Furthermore, we developed an enquiry management system where the team can manage incoming enquiries and provide quotes.

As of November 2018 (two years since launch), the new website has recorded a 41% increase in tablet visits, a 69% increase in mobile visits, a 637% increase in mobile conversion rate and a 40% increase in the number of contact form submissions.

We developed a new brand identity for Bookabed, one of Europe’s leading B2B accommodation wholesalers.

The marketing team at Bookabed felt that it was time to freshen up their brand identity with a modern look. We were also tasked with developing marketing material for multiple offline and online touchpoints in concurrence with the rebranding.

A new logo forms the centrepiece of the rebrand, with new designs for

their business cards and letterhead. At a digital level, we created responsive designs for the new Bookabed homepage, new email signatures, and a ‘style-guide’ with instructions to update the existing search and booking flow for a consistent user journey. Finally, we created a brochure enabling Bookabed to present their strategic plans.

As an Umbraco Gold Partner, CSI Media were appointed by Smith & Sinclair to manage their Umbraco-powered e-commerce website. Our first job was to develop an urgent solution to connect the website to

their pre-existing Warehouse Management System. Previously, orders had been sent manually to the warehouse. The new automated solution alleviates a huge bottleneck, improving overall efficiency and ensuring that customers receive their orders in a timely manner.

Another change is a new banner component for the homepage, where the marketing team can add custom promo messages, for example, “Free Standard UK Delivery on All Orders Over £30”. We continue to provide ongoing support for Smith & Sinclair with custom developments when required - one of many Umbraco clients whom we support with ongoing maintenance.

My Candy Cloud is a family-run confectionery business that sell a yummy variety of mouth-watering treats. 

Established in 2018, My Candy Cloud is very much in its infancy and thus needed a vibrant brand to stand out in a super-competitive market. They also required an e-commerce website where users could purchase the treats.

We wanted to captivate people with the new brand and create that ‘WOW’ moment that people

feel when they walk into a sweet shop! Our designers started by experimenting with brightly coloured patterns and illustrations of tangled sweets tessellating together inside of a bag. These patterns form the heart of the visuals and are used across the identity.

The design team considered a selection of WordPress commerce themes and chose one that met My Candy Cloud’s business requirements. We integrated the WooCommerce e-commerce plugin, an online shop where users can choose from and buy a selection of yummy treats.

The premise of the system is fairly simple. Campervan owners upload their campervans to the system. The team at Camper Connect verify campervans before they are published to the website.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of programmes at Family Holiday Association, a UK-based national charity that helps struggling families get breaks and days out. This can involve day trips, short breaks, or holidays.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CSI Media?

We hired CSI Media to build an online platform that would manage our service.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team at CSI Media build the website and database behind it, using Umbraco. The platform manages the delivery of our service by registering professionals like social workers, teachers, and health visitors onto the system. It also allows those professionals to apply families for breaks and days out. Afterward, we can collect feedback through the system, as well. It’s essentially an all-in-one solution for our operations.

What is the team composition?

Directly, I worked with six people. Some people worked behind the scenes that I didn’t have contact with.

How did you come to work with CSI Media?

We requested proposals, approaching several developers. CSI Media was the best in terms of responding to that tender document.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with CSI Media began in early 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In terms of the success of work, we’re more efficient as an organization. We’re able to work a lot quicker through helping more families and working with more partners.

How did CSI Media perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, they’ve performed well. Their team understood the brief very well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

On a day-to-day basis, they’re an excellent bunch to work with. Our personal relationships with CSI Media’s team are great.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was some tension in regards to testing. We should’ve tested the platform more thoroughly before going live. That’s probably as much of an issue with us as an organization rather than them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice to other organizations would be to talk to them. They understand what you need, so spend a lot of time discussing what you need. In terms of the proposal & tender process, I felt that CSI Media was the only company that understood me. Also, make sure that your site is going live when it’s right. Don’t rush. But again, that’s probably more of our fault than theirs.

I’m the marketing manager of InfoTrack. We’re in the legal tech industry and our platform provides integrated searching services for businesses, professionals, and individuals.

Our website is a .NET platform and our previous agency no longer supported that technology. We hired CSI Media to rebuild our website and maintain it.

To start the engagement, CSI Media ran a health check on our existing site and created a plan for updating the platform. They upgraded our Umbraco CMS backend by implementing the designs we provided. Their team is currently working with us to launch the site.

Each one links to different systems and technology, so their main objective is to keep those sites running and to develop new features and functionality. They maintain our Umbraco CMSs and make recommendations on design and usability. When we work with them on a new site, we sometimes provide wireframes ahead of time, but often work together. We have weekly discussions and make changes as a team as we approach each launch.

We work with between 10–15 people, sometimes more. We don’t have a main point of contact, but interact with all the members of their senior team. There are a few people who work behind the scenes, and one of their directors makes some of the staffing decisions.

We are an independent online travel agent and I am the marketing manager for the company. I manage all the lead generation across multiple channels; mainly online through PPC, SEO, email marketing, content marketing, and maintaining the website.

What challenge were you trying to address with CSI Media?

We wanted a new mobile-responsive website because the one that we had previously was very outdated. It didn't allow us any flexibility to update authors or be proactive, and we just weren't able to post new content very quickly. It wasn't adhering to the best practices with Google, so we hired them originally for a complete website rebuild.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They came up with a brand new design and a bespoke CMS using Umbraco. (I had only used WordPress sites before, but they recommended Umbraco for the new site.) We had mock-ups and told them the functionality we would need the site to have. They did everything; the whole site was custom-made.

Admittedly, we've struggled with the SEO side of things since we've migrated to the new site. We don’t use CSI Media for SEO, but we have seen a drop in rankings because the structure of our old site had so many more pages. Right now we’re focusing on the site’s existing design and making it mobile-first, in addition to small improvements and optimizations.

What is the team composition?

I've been in direct contact with at least five people. I have spoken to a member of their design team and the tech lead, and I worked regularly two or more of their account managers.

How did you come to work with CSI Media?

I believe they designed our original site, so we got them on board because we already had a good working relationship.

Now that we've migrated to the new site, we've streamlined a lot of our content. With the old site's structure, you had to have lots of linking pages to get to a page, and we have fewer pages with the new site. That's had an impact, but other than that, our conversion rate has increased roughly 60%.

I can't fault the account support; they are really friendly and the team member I contacted the most was helpful and always enthusiastic.

We communicated entirely on the phone and through emails. Before the website went live, we went to their offices to meet the crew for more formal training on how to use the CMS. We only met in person the one time, though.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I recently went to them with a spec for a new mobile-first design and they made a design for tablet and desktop. I was happy with the designs that came back; they incorporated my considerations, but still took initiative without me saying explicitly what I wanted. The result was a good design solution.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I know that they have a lot of clients, but time-management seems to hinder them. When we log a ticket with them regarding site maintenance or small improvements, it can take some time to get it scheduled.

It would be nice if we could have more face-to-face contact with them. It would be ideal if we could set up more regular meetings or more opportunities to go to their office since it's always better to explain things in person.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They were hands-on from day one. We had an initial scoping session to talk about our goals and the work required. Then we went through a wireframing process and met with the designers. They did all the design, coding, developing, and cultivating the hosting environment on Amazon. The new website has an IP lookup tool that will change the interface based upon who is looking at the site. If a user visits us from NHS, they will see one version of the site, but if a private individual comes to us, they will view a different version of the site. It tailors the content to the visitor.

We meant to hire them for a single project. We’re now on our fourth site with them, and we’re giving them more work.

What is the team composition?

We’re working on a big project at the moment. We normally have two account managers, but right now we’re working with about six team members, including designers, developers, an account manager, and the managing director, as needed.

How did you come to work with CSI Media?

A couple of years ago, we were looking for a new agency. We interviewed a number of possibilities all over the UK. What did you find most impressive about them?

They manage the process really well, and are professional, well-mannered, and easy to deal with. They were communicative and collaborative at every stage, and more than happy to talk with us. I don’t have to go through an account manager, I have the option to go directly to the designer or the developer. If we ever need something done urgently, they hop right in and don’t put us in queue.

They have great ideas, and they’re not shy about sharing them. The IP lookup tool was their suggestion, and they’re always making recommendations. We bring them our ideas, and they’re bold enough to present us with better options. They’re usually right.

No, in all honesty, they’re the best agency I’ve ever worked with. At the moment, our only recommendation is to maintain this level of performance.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the Managing Director of a credit broker that arranges financing for vehicles.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CSI Media?

We had a very static website and needed a developer to improve our digital presence by building a new site that incorporates the latest technologies. We wanted special attention paid to usability.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We described our business and the functionalities the new site needed to include. From here, we worked collaboratively to outline the design elements and UX/UI. They kept the basic color palette of our logo, but opted for lighter tones to create a more modern appearance.

The created the website from scratch, including a new domain name. CSI Media had an existing web template that they modified for our industry and built the site using the Umbraco platform. Its intuitive layout allows me to easily make content changes. I can also shut the site down to make repairs or install updates.

CSI continues to host the site, provide search engine optimization, and routine maintenance.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 4 or 5 team members, including designers, an HTML developer, and a web developer. I stay in constant communication with the web developer and I trust him to accomplish any tasks I assign.

How did you come to work with CSI Media?

They designed a massive platform for my brother’s company using a number of technologies that could apply to our project. I set up a meeting with one of CSI’s directors based on my brother’s recommendation.

How much have you invested with them?

Around $200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2006 and our relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re credit brokers who work with funders in the finance industry. Because of the professional quality of our new site, users have mistaken us for our larger partners. They assume we’re funders because of our fresh and user-friendly digital space.

Our biggest priority was usability. We wanted to ensure that anyone could use our site, no matter their level of computer literacy. CSI did a good job of finding that balance, but the flexibility of their system also allows me to make adjustments as needed.

How did CSI Media perform from a project management standpoint?

I'm a fairly precise person, so it’s important for me to receive updates. Their account managers are spot on and keep me informed about the project’s status. If I submit a task, it's scheduled and completed.

We frequently meet in person, as I find it easier to explain large projects face-to-face, but we also talk over the phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The fact that they had existing technologies from previous projects saved us thousands and thousands of dollars. It’s difficult to find smart, qualified developers, but CSI was able to create a complex system at little cost.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Any business owner wants tasks to be completed quicker, but then you also run the risk of getting subpar results.
