We specialize in the development of what we call numerical engines or the development of code that can perform specific processes. We do not specialize in GUI (graphical user interface) development or web-based platform development. And that was something that that they do specialize in.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We contracted with them for GUI and web-based platform development. They started by coming in for a quick session on their own nickel, just to map out what our thoughts were. They showed us the sorts of products they could provide.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about seven people in total. We had their senior managers involved as well.

How did you come to work with Credencys Solutions Inc.?

They reached out to us with a cold-lead email and we were looking for exactly what they had put in the email. They let us know what they could do, we both followed up, and our engagement went from there.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $150,000–$200,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We signed a contract in August 2016 and the engagement concluded in 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were very happy with the product they developed and the value they provided. They came in with some good folks who were able to see the vision of what we wanted to develop and were able to implement that vision.

How did Credencys Solutions Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They used scrum methodology to map things out. We started developing user stories or functional requirements for what we were trying to develop, and then they put those into weekly deliverables and were able to meet those deliverables. During the testing phase, we may have slipped a little bit, but most from the most part those deliverables were met.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strength was their communication. Their CTO and CEO were available to talk and would call to just check in on how the project was going. They also had they had representatives locally here that would check in regularly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They had a little bit of turnover in some of the folks that they had working on the project, but I'm not sure that was so much of a negative.

It was a big project with a lot of moving parts. Using Kentico, they helped shift the platform from informational to an e-commerce site with digital products and consultation cross-selling. Of course, none of these products were out-of-box, so they needed to be custom developed.

Since our client was an international company, we incorporated foreign exchange and tax through gateways. We also built out a marketing automation platform and focused on redesigning the site’s brand and UX.

What is the team composition?

We had 5-6 people working on our team.

How did you come to work with Credencys?

They were a personal referral. A colleague, who also owns a digital agency, recommended them to me.

How much have you invested with them?

It cost several hundred thousand dollars.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from 2018- 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Both traffic and time spent on the site have increased substantially. The client was very pleased with the results and UX. Not only did they see revenue growth, this project helped them become leaders in their industry.

How did Credencys perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a fantastic working relationship. We were able to communicate well and we were on the same page throughout the process. Of course, there were ups and downs because the client would change their mind and we would have to react quickly to make adjustments and stay on schedule. They used Jira to help with management, and so we always knew when things would be done.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their head developer is very knowledgeable and is a great leader. Everything fell into place because their management was so strong.

Communication between our teams has been great. After the calls, they send notes of the meeting within 24 hours so you everyone on their team and our team are on the same page working together off the same sheet of notes.

Credencys Solutions Inc. assisted us in developing a new UI for our existing docketing system. The new interface design allowed us to use updated technology, streamline internal processes, and help our users manage their cases in an easy and intuitive way. Due to the confidentiality of our client information, Credencys Solutions Inc. built the UI around the APIs that we developed.

Throughout the project, the team has been comprised of application developers and a project manager from our firm and web-based interface specialists and a project manager from Credencys Solutions Inc. Both teams were comprised of 3–4 people in 2015. The initial project manager left in 2017, and we started working with Janvi (Project Manager, Credencys Solutions Inc.).

We had a relationship with a software development services reseller that had delivered high-quality results in the past.  When we decided to take on this initiative, we reached out to our partner and began the process of evaluating companies that could take on the high-level project and deliver quality results.  We ended up selecting Credencys Solutions Inc., and we are very happy with our final product.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in November 2015, and our work is ongoing.

We want to ensure our applications provide our users with an interface that is modern, intuitive, and adaptable. We continue to work with Janvi and her team to resolve application bugs and make minor modifications to the interface; we are planning on enhancing the product in the coming year.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Before Credencys Solutions Inc. got involved, our prior interface response time was sluggish, and the interface was not intuitive. After working through the workshop and designing an interface around our users’ needs, we are extremely pleased with the end result. The new interface, while not perfect, is very robust, yet easy to use.

How did Credencys Solutions Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Working with a remote vendor can present challenges. Credencys Solutions Inc. recommended using Trello to manage user issues, which enhances the process of our solution lifecycle.  Credencys Solutions Inc. also worked with us when scheduling either daily or weekly status calls, in addition to communicating via email. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They played a significant role in making this project so successful with our users.  It was a huge undertaking.

They streamlined certain components and helped us get to a product that our users are raving about. The team was very creative.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There are always areas that could have been improved and in fact were discussed with the Credencys Solutions Inc. team on a routine basis. We always felt they heard our concerns and were willing to adapt their processes to our needs. Overall, we were very pleased with them and their team.

Please describe your company.

The company is a gaming studio, but the product that Credencys Solutions helped me finalize is the first game that we're releasing.

What is your role and responsibilities?

I’m a one-man shop at this point. I was trying to build a mobile, social, turn-based game. I’m a developer, and I take contacts on different clients and work on projects. I’m based in Vancouver, B.C., and most of the work in the city requires that the person be onsite. Sometimes, I do consulting or some work.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with Credencys Solutions?

I got an idea for a mobile social game that I wanted to develop. I usually work with Web technologies, so I built this game using a platform, which allows you to build apps for all mobile platforms using one code base. You can build it and release four or five different platforms at the same time, including BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and the like.

I built it with that platform, and I wasn’t totally satisfied with the performance because there was an extra layer or two of communications happening. There was a delay with the build. Usually, it's best suited for the most basic apps, but for something a little more complicated with several things happening at the same time, it got too slow.

I wanted to go with mobile technologies with native apps so it could perform to its full potential. I haven’t worked on mobile projects from start to finish myself, but I contributed to it. I wanted to make sure because I wanted to release it in the market. I wanted it to perform and prosper as much as it can.

The app is for consumers, and I released it under my own brand. I did a soft launch in late January of 2014, and I invite a limited number of people every day to see the real work and performance. I already got some feedback, and I’m tweaking those items. I'll do a big launch in late February.

They mainly just did the development work for my app.

What was your process for selecting Credencys Solutions with which to work?

I started looking for some people to help me finish it. I looked on oDesk, Elance, and other freelance sites and found a lot of companies. I put a job offer up and got about 30 responses. Surprisingly, Credencys stood out the most, not just because it looked nice. Out of everybody who replied, they understood the scope of the project the most. They understood it to the degree that within 24 hours, they sent me a plan of how they would go about every part of the project. Because they understood the project so well, they proposed the entire system, A to Z. What would have taken two weeks with another company took a day or two with them to finalize. That was the first thing that impressed me about them; their understanding of the project was very thorough and in a short amount of time.

I got back to them, and while other companies were willing to work, you could sense the professionalism from the conversation and their actions. They were eager to do the job.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

It was in the $20,000 to $30,000 range.

When was the latest milestone completed for that work?

The development is complete. Like any software project you work on, no matter what, even if Google sells them apps, there will be some bugs and problems that you wouldn’t figure out until more than a certain amount of users start using it. That’s why I did a soft launch, and I’ve gathered some feedback already. I’m working them right now to fix the rest of the items.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

Not really at this point, but I think it will be successful and popular with users.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

Even before I authorized the job and paid them the first amount, they started sending me work right away. They were eager to work on the project. They are extremely motivated and extremely driven. They really know what they're doing.

They are extremely trustworthy. This is the first project I’ve worked on with them, and I've already paid the full invoice for the work. We paid them in phases, but the entire project is paid for. They agreed with me that if there are any bugs in the system, they would help me fix them. They kept their word, and they’re doing everything they promised. On Elance, the job has ended. They are very trustworthy and stick to their word.

If they don’t know how to do something, they will find a way, figure it out, and they’ll do it. I don’t know whether they bring in outside help, or if they learn it and implement it. They are very fast. We wanted to integrate the API [application programming interface] into the system, but they had never dealt with it before; it was totally new to them. They were able to implement it beautifully.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

Certain things weren’t developed how I wanted. Either the quality wasn’t what I wanted, or the architecture of what was built wasn’t how it should have been done. When I let them know, they rewrote the code exactly how I wanted. Their English is very good, so it's not just the language, but how you perceive what I say. It ended up being done how I wanted. It wasn’t a problem.

I'm a senior software engineer for a local company here in Brazil.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with Credencys Solutions?

I started playing around with making games, built the source code myself, and then I published those. I got to the point where I made better money with my games than I made with my full-time job. I realized that was a business. The more games I made and published, the better money I made. It got to the point where it became difficult for me to split the time between my full-time job and my own games. Programming requires a lot of time, attention, and dedication. I decided to outsource my games; whoever outsourced my games would provide the source code, and I could tweak it myself if I needed to do so.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their work.

The first app was very nice, and their code quality was very nice. We initially had small issues like indenting properly. I dropped them a note and said that I needed my source code to be properly indented and documented because I have to maintain it. They followed my instructions, and they got what I was saying. The next build was fully documented, fully formatted, and ready to be maintained by whoever took over. With clear instructions, they did precisely what I asked for.

I made a few more games with them, and they delivered precisely what I asked for. Unfortunately, the games I outsourced to them did not do well commercially, but that was another story. It was my mistake to ask them to do something that didn’t have commercial appeal.

They made hybrid games that worked on iOS as well as Android. They used a platform that I asked them for, which was around 3-D. I never asked them for a pure Objective C game because I wanted to publish to multiple platforms. We work with C Sharp, and it works very well.

What was your process for selecting Credencys Solutions?

I created an Elance profile and started searching for freelancers. I immediately noticed that on Elance, there are a lot of cheap freelancers from regions that would charge only $11 an hour. Charging on $11 an hour indicates that the quality probably is not the best. You get what you pay for, and they may not even know what they’re doing. In some cases, they’re playing around with a new language and charging for it. Credencys introduced themselves to me, and their rate was substantially higher than $15 an hour. I gave them a chance.

When was the latest milestone completed for that work?

All the work has been completed, and we don’t have anything ongoing right now. I am not publishing any new apps for the time being. All the work that we did together was fully finished and published, and they’re up on the App Store now.

Also, “Zombie Slicer” was their work. It has zombies flying around. It's very nice. With “Zombie Slicer,” we agreed to having them publish it under their own brand and take care of marketing and everything. We split the revenue. It's been working well. That was finished in late 2013. We also had some small projects that were never published and other smaller tasks.

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

The projects were successful. In terms of project management, they were definitely successful. The project was delivered on time, and the project was very high quality. It was very nice. It just didn’t do well commercially, but that’s another story.

Can you assess their general performance?

Besides being very technically savvy people, they really know what they’re doing. They’re able to provide very high-quality code. They are very nice to work with as well. For the company that I work for full-time, we have issues with outsourcers working on their own timeframes and time zones. More than once, I had to wake up at 4 a.m. just to have a meeting. This is not a problem with Credencys. I don’t know what kind of magic they do; they probably ask their developers to wake up at four in the morning, so I can talk to them at my regular time.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I would say that everything about them is exceptional. The code quality is very nice, and they’re very polite and understanding. Whenever you shoot them an email, they reply within an hour or less. They’re very nice people to work with.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

It depends on what kind of development you’re looking for. If you’re talking about 3-D game development, there were two times when the performance was not the best. However, it was promptly reviewed and corrected. However, 3-D gaming drains the CPU, and you need to make sure you check things out. Besides that, everything they have delivered has been very nice.

We're an IT services provider. We provide Web development and mobile application services based in Bahrain in the Middle East. We usually outsource parts of the development to other companies, sometimes in full and sometimes in smaller pieces to smaller developers.

I’m the general manager. I’m in charge of the entire company in terms of operations. Being a small company with less than five people, I also manage day-to-day projects as well as client interactions. Our clients are largely domestic.

I worked with them on two projects. In one, we required the development of an entire mobile application. We started with a Web search, looking for companies. We looked at freelance resource websites and developed a short list of experienced companies. With such a busy field of companies trying to sell their services, we wanted to select a company with proven experience and direction, instead of trying someone new. We usually have many different projects, so I'll give a small project to a company as a test. If it works out, we give them bigger projects.

One thing that stood out to me is that they actually follow up if I don’t send them something. Sometimes, the ball is in your court when you have to provide information, and sometimes the ball is in their court. When it's your turn to provide something, some companies are happy just to leave it be, because that gives them more time. They can say, "You were supposed to give us that information, and you didn’t, so now we have more time." They follow up and tell us that they’ve been waiting for something for a week, that we didn't provide it to them, and that it might affect the project.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

There are always small areas for improvement. At this stage, I can’t specify anything major.
