A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and CEO of Nebutech Analytics, an AI-based product development company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Creative Days?
We needed help with UI/UX for one of the products we were developing for electric vehicles.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They did the UI/UX design for a SaaS app for electric vehicles. In the beginning, we gave them a description of the product and each of the screens we felt we needed.
They were always part of our brainstorming sessions where we told them how we’d like the UI/UX, and they’d give input as well — it was a two-way process throughout the journey. We didn’t give them any guidelines and the entire branding was done by them. They used Adobe XD as the primary tool for designing.
The first phase was branding and preparing the logo. We had to do research to learn what type of charging stations are present, which was entirely done by Creative Days as well. In the second phase, we did the landing page for the website — the initial development was done for us and they did the UI part.
After that, we shifted into app development which had multiple phases. For the first phase, we came with the basic wireframes and hand sketches of what possible artwork would be used. Then it was translated into digital art. The app is broken down into three sides — one is for the consumer, the other is for the station towers, then the third is a mix of two. We then moved to the admin panel for the admin and the station admin. The process was similar with wireframes, hand-sketched designs, digital art translation, and coding them into the wireframes.
What is the team composition?
There were four people I was in direct contact with. The founder who was also the UI/UX person, the co-founder who helped in the research aspect, a digital arts person, and a project manager. I don’t know how many were behind the scenes.
How did you come to work with Creative Days?
We got their phone number from a contact of ours. We spoke with five different companies, and we liked how the founder was very result-oriented and systematic. His portfolio was very strong and his team all graduated from the best design university in India. That gave us the confidence that they’d be able to do a good job. He knew what he was talking about and walked us through why he chose a specific color palette, etc.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent less than $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together from September 2020–February 2021. We will be working with them again on another product.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The product was very well done. Their founder and co-founder are heavily involved in the work which is great. They’re always available and we can reach out to them to make changes immediately. One of the main things I liked is how varied their work was with different art forms and styles. Their level of adaptability is very high and it has been a great experience with them.
Moreover, the founder was very humble. You can freely speak with him if you have any ideas and he’s willing to give his two cents. He also does very good research when it comes to the UI/UX aspect — I even learned a lot about what more could be done with our product. He understood the flow really well. It’s a very systematic process that he follows when he’s making the UI/UX part when it comes to the mood boards and drawing sitemaps. In addition, they were very punctual, and they always delivered on their deadline, so you can bank on their work that was very well defined.
How did Creative Days perform from a project management standpoint?
I mainly communicated with the founder, and the conversations with him are always great. They would go through every detail and deliver the project on time — the project manager handled their processes. We communicated via Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and WhatsApp for quick communications. We also used Trello Boards.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The research they do makes them stand out. When I spoke with the other companies, that particular service wasn’t something they provided.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re a relatively new company. They kind of shy away from trying something new. They use proven methods, but they should have the confidence to try something new.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a good understanding of the product that you’re giving them to do, and add to the conversation to make sure they understand what you want. Your documentation needs to be detailed so describe what type of logo or font you want — if you want it minimalistic or more elaborate. Additionally, you need to have a certain understanding of the UI aspect as well.
The client was very impressed with the final product that Creative Days delivered. The team was responsive and heavily involved throughout the duration of the project. The internal stakeholders were impressed with their availability and adaptability to change requests.
