We needed a custom website and a partner recommended the CoRLab as the best IT company that offers good product quality in time.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The deciding factors were to meet the stringent deadlines without affecting the product quality.

We first started with the design since they are providing UX/UI design services as well, afterwards they divided the work among the team with well-described & estimated Jira tasks. It wasn't necessary to schedule a lot of boring meetings.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were 6 people in the team, including a project manager, 2 designers, 2 developers & one QA.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

CoRLab has successfully delivered a fully functional website that satisfied our needs. The team established and organized the workflow by communicating consistently and managing tasks well. Customers can expect a reliable partner, who works in a highly professional manner.

2. The project management was smooth, the deadlines were met in time or sometime earlier. The communication was via Jira, Skype, Telegram and Google meet.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

A direct access to the core team was beneficial for our product manager since the issues were solved during the conversation.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The quality of work is great. However, it would be helpful if they come up with more improvement ideas for our projects because the team is very creative.

Bringing the design of an updated long-standing website to life in Wordpress and developing bespoke functionality for the client's specific use case. Our goals were to deliver a high quality, future-thinking web application. This is what we delivered.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Introduced to me by a mutual well trusted colleague, that highly recommended CoRLab and after speaking with them a few times I could tell our values were aligned and they could deliver what we needed.

The scope of work was to take the design that was created specifically for this client and make it functional. Then, once completed, add in the custom functionality, launch then continue to support.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

2 people worked with me and one was a developer and the other was the principle of the firm. Working closely with us at a high level made sure all decisions were enforced from the top so I could have peace of mind that they would be completed.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launch we had and still have a very high quality web application that has very little issues and the client was extremely pleased. It is easily supportable and when required they step in to make the necessary updates.

We used Jira and Skype to communicate which allowed us to feel very close in communication and they were always just a call away. Very easy to access and gave very accurate timelines which is something I truly appreciate.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Knowledge of the required tech stack and debugging issues. They were able to quickly and properly solve any issues that came up and gave me details on how and why these issues occurred.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No it is very rare I will say there is nothing to improve upon. They are doing everything perfectly.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of web and product development for Cardinal Finance.  We’re a mortgage lender; we provide home loans for people who want to buy houses. I oversee most of our public-facing products and the frontend of our proprietary mortgage tech product.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CoRLab Tech?

We were redesigning the UX for our proprietary mortgage tech product. As part of that, we needed to build a design system and an in-house design enterprise design system.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

CoRLab Tech helped us with component development. Initially, they did an analysis for us and provided some concepts and three options on how to do the project. We could build our component library using Stencil.js, Lit, or without a framework. They made a recommendation, and we decided to go with Stencil.js. Then, they worked on building the components from approved Figma designs.

We started by building the Figma interface components. CoRLabs Tech worked directly with our designer to gather the requirements and develop the components in Stencil.js. We also used Storybook to host and view the components. They’d write the documentation for us to review, and we’d give feedback. Once it was approved, they’d build it again, and we’d repeat the cycle.

What is the team composition?

We mainly worked with Mihai (CTO) directly. As our engagement grew, we introduced  Diana (Project Manager) and some additional developers. Diana was very diligent and a good communicator.

How did you come to work with CoRLab Tech?

One of our designers knew Mihai from previous work. He referred us to him.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent roughly between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on the project from April–September 2022. We no longer have any active work, but we’ll maintain our relationship. We have similar work ahead, so we’ll reach back out to CoRLab Tech.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They completed everything we asked them. We now have our component library, so we’re working on building them into the application. We don’t have other metrics than that, but overall, we were very happy with their work.

How did CoRLab Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was excellent. When the team grew, they were very proactive in managing the project. They even recommended some process improvements and helped us with integrations. Moreover, they stuck to the schedule perfectly; nothing was delivered late. CoRLab Tech was diligent and communicative about what they were working on and where they were in the process. All in all, it was easy to work with them.

Our company used Zoom, which had a similar chat function to Slack, so we mostly communicated through there. We invited them to some of our Zoom rooms and project management tools. We used Asana, and they used Jira, so they encouraged us to link the two together. We had tasks in both systems, and it worked very well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mihai was very knowledgeable as a leader. He was a great developer; he knew more about JavaScript than anyone I’d ever met. Overall, he was resourceful and able to come up with good solutions quickly.

Moreover, CoRLab’s team was pleasant to work with, and they wrote good code. They understood our challenges, and their responsiveness set them apart from other software providers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind. Our only challenge was the time zone difference, so they couldn’t control that. Nonetheless, they accommodated us and did a great job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Work directly with Mihai. He’s very knowledgeable, which saved us a lot of time. We could discuss complex topics and quickly come to an agreement about what we needed to do.

CorLab was referring to us by one of our partners. Great decision overall.

They provided WordPress development assistance, and development staff for a project that needed augmenting immediately. CorLab had readily available staff and was able to onboard them quickly and efficiently.

The process of recruiting at CorLab was efficient and quick -- something that definitely helped us since we did not have too much time to waste on this project.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is still ongoing, however I can safely say that the staff that they have allocated to our project are exceeding expectations.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We are still engaged with them, so I guess it is going real well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We like their ability to staff projects quickly.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Communication is something that I am very picky about. No one ever meets my expectation in this dept. This is the only area, anyone can improve on.
