Video Production for Tech-Enabled Brokerage Firm
"We were very pleased with how they took words from our founder and turned it into a compelling visual story."

Please describe your company and your position there.
Founder of Locate, the first tech-enabled brokerage in the retail industry.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concurrent Productions, and what were your goals?
Tell a visual story about Locate and our vision for the future of retail brokerage.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Referral, and they work style was highly accommodating for what we wanted to do. Very collaborative, detailed, and proactive.
Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.
They first reviewed our company's vision and brand book. We worked together on creating the initial script. They fine-tuned the script to match the vision for the video. They took time to understand our customers and toured around socal to capture authentic, original video rolls to be used in our video.
Then, they put multiple drafts of the video together, and worked closely with us to make sure the high-level flow & story was what we wanted, but also went down into the granular details of the video production so that every second of the video was intentional and flowed in the right way in respect to the overall video.
They also grabbed screenshots and brought in a professional voiceover pro to polish. Finally, they made the video production-level quality for public consumption.
Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?
Jeff, founder of Concurrent. Super responsive, very proactive, and diligent in capturing every aspect of the video we wanted. It was very collaborative too.
In some cases, it was helpful to hear from him what parameters we should stay within to have the most impactful video, which is helpful because he is a professional videographer and I'm not. He made sure to capture the essence of everything we needed in the video in the format that made the video shine.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
This was our missing piece in our rebrand that we did earlier this year. Everything is digital and videos nowadays, so we are very excited to include this in every marketing piece we release here on out.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Super responsive, very communicative. They used basecamp. We mostly communicated through basecamp and email. However, when they wanted to dive deeper, they were generous with their time in scheduling calls and doing demos of our technology.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They make is super easy to tell them what we wanted in the video, and they masterfully translate our vision into a high-quality video production. We were very pleased with how they took words from our founder and turned it into a compelling visual story. Said differently, they make sure to start from the founder's vision.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing major comes to mind.

Promote the branding of Biophilia and our product lines.
How did you select this vendor?
Met through referral and selected based on their work shown on their website.
Describe the project in detail.
We started with a discussion to define the scope of work. We determined that we would be focused on incorporating a day of live filming, recording an interview and weaving in video and music from other sources that I provided.
What was the team composition?
The team comprised of myself, Kerri, Jeff, Daniel (their videographer), my vendors with their video content and images. We also worked with the artist that owned the licensing and art work of the panel for editing feedback.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The feedback we have been receiving from our colleagues has been positive. We are yet to do an official launch of the video through our social media efforts.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Highly effective. Kerri and Jeff scheduled the pre production meeting and had lined up their team on schedule the day of the shoot. Post Production, Jeff was highly responsive and quick to produce the final drafts and final piece.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Talent! Kerri has a wonderful way of interviewing her subject to get what I'm calling "Audio Gold." Jeff is extremely creative with his directing and editing. On top of it all both Jeff and Kerri are highly professional and easy to work with.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None that I can see.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder and owner of Girl Friday Personal Assistant Services in South Pasadena, CA. We serve the greater Los Angeles area, providing a wide range of services to families and small businesses.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concurrent Productions?
I wanted a promotional video to ultimately post on our website for prospective clients to learn more about who we are and what we do.
What were your goals for this project?
My goal was to have a piece that felt honest and authentic and really reflects who we are.
How did you select this vendor?
I selected Concurrent Productions because I loved the idea of creating a video that was not scripted - this appealed to my personality as I am more of a fly by the seat of my pants person, and the thought of a highly scripted, stiff, formal video was a turn off to me. It would not reflect who I am and what the company is all about.
Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.
The process was a piece of cake! Concurrent Productions provided me with really great information before the shoot and I felt very prepared. When I arrived, they were set up and ready for me. During the shoot they were very efficient and asked great questions. Post shoot, they did great follow up and I received the final cut quickly.
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
Everyone so far has had very positive feedback - the video has not been shown to the world yet but those who've seen it feel it's a great representation of who we are.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The main thing for me is that I love it and feel it's a great product. This makes me excited to share it with everyone!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Excellent - they are great communicators. Clear, concise, to the point. And helpful when any questions arose.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Concurrent Productions was impressive from day one. I found them to be very warm and welcoming, as well as efficient, smart, great at what they do and very easy to work with.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Honestly, no! I had a wonderful experience with them and have recommended their services to my clients. I hope to work with them again.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Retrium was designed to allow remote teams to run retrospectives. We a small software company that depends on word of mouth marketing to increase awareness. My role at Retrium is as a Customer Success Manager.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concurrent Productions?
We hired Concurrent Productions to help us tell our customer's stories. The was to serve two purposes. One was to demonstrate to future customers the value that our customers experience, and two was to have fresh stories to launch with our new marketing website. We had a challenge in that we would not be able to film our customer stories in person, since Retrium and are customers are spread out.
What were your goals for this project?
Complete 3-4 customer interviews in order to create small clips that could be shared on our social media pages and longer short videos that could be posted on our marketing site.
How did you select this vendor?
My colleague had worked with Concurrent at a previous company and recommended them. Not only did they have a quality portfolio, but they were ready to work with us to make our dreams a reality despite the geographical constraints.
Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.
Once we confirmed the clients and contacts we'd be working with, we sent email introductions to allow Concurrent's team. From there Concurrent worked to schedule times with our customers to record the interview over zoom. We did not have to be involved during the interviews, but I was able to view the process after the fact. Concurrent took time to set the scene and help our customers feel comfortable. What was also critical as they had set up multiple methods to record and capture the interview. Given that this was not the normal set up, and it was vital we captured the interview in that moment. Once the interviews were complete, Concurrent was timely when provided initial drafts of our videos. They were responsive to feedback, and took our edit directions well. They helped to keep us on track for the timelines we initially expressed as well.
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
We set up a Slack channel for both real-time and asynchronous communication. Files were shared through iCloud. While this sounds simple or disorganized to some, it's important to note that this was at our request. That means that Concurrent adapted to work with us, while still managing delivery an organized and timely experience.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We continue to share and utilize our customer videos. They have provided a perfect assortment of visual expressions for future customers to watch. Not only that, but it inspired the Retrium team to hear and see these stories told!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Extremely efficient. They adapted to meet us where it was easiest for us which included Slack primarily.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their ability to adapt to work with us was impressive. We presented a unique use case of having to film all of our interviews remote and they delivered effortlessly.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I'm sure there are (everyone can always improve on something) but in writing this review nothing comes to mind.

Multiple Informational Videos for AdTech Agency
"They were incredibly responsive to our feedback and coordinated all the logistics effortlessly."

the review

Please describe your company and your position there.
Centerfield Media is an AdTech Agency, primarily focused on the home services space. I was brought on to the company as a consultant for their High Speed Experts property (a broadband connectivity search engine and IT industry education platform).
For what projects/services did your company hire Concurrent Productions?
We hired Concurrent to produce 5 different videos for 3 of our properties, namely:
- High Speed Experts
- BroadbandNow
- InMyArea
For InMyArea, we created a branded video to showcase its why. For BroadbandNow, we created a video showcasing our research on the digital divide.
Finally, for High Speed Experts, we created videos based on informational articles we had already written and wanted to present in a different way.
What were your goals for this project?
Our various properties are monetized in an affiliate manner. Consequently, quality traffic is essential for the ongoing success of those properties. We were good at written content but were falling behind on video.
Our aim with this project was to evaluate the viability of video as an SEO and traffic ploy and the type of ROI we could expect from investing in high quality video production.
How did you select this vendor?
I had met Jeff and Kerri when they were presenting a General Assembly workshop about how to craft brand videos with the 'why' as the focus, not the 'what'. I found this methodology very compelling and stayed in touch with both of them.
I then started my role with Centerfield and was tasked with finding vendors for our new video initiative. Naturally Concurrent Productions came to mind and we began this project.
Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.
We started with some ideation and strategy sessions to determine the 5 video concepts that we would produce.
Each property had slightly different needs, which were reflected in our ideation.
- High Speed Experts: positioned as a tech geek, so we devised informational videos based on pre-written articles. This was done to measure the difference in conversion rates of articles with or without videos.
- InMyArea: a branded video because, although having high traffic, didn't have high brand clout in the space. By presenting InMyArea's 'why' in a video, we hoped to humanize the brand.
- BroadbandNow: research-based video to determine if we could gain higher visibility and press coverage by accompanying our reports with a video.
From there, we sourced the internal talent and shot the 5 videos on-site in Centerfield's office. Jeff and Kerri took particularly care to make the talent feel comfortable with the process, eliciting some awesome reactions on camera.
Finally, Concurrent's team took the raw footage and edited it into the final product. We had the opportunity for feedback but honestly, not much was needed - the videos came out superbly!
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
Feedback was able to be given effectively. A Vimeo Showcase link was provided for us to discuss the raw footage and make comments. From there, we entrusted the Concurrent team to make the appropriate edits which they made with speed and efficiency, constantly delivering in advance of deadlines.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
All metrics since producing the videos point to a substantial lift in the properties of Centerfield, most notably with High Speed Experts. Following the release of the videos, traffic hit an all-time high of 103,000 monthly visits, along with corresponding increases in revenue.
The ultimate goal was certainly achieved and further investment in video is planned for 2020.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Seamless. They were incredibly responsive to our feedback and coordinated all the logistics effortlessly. This initiative was a success, in no small part due to the workflow between Concurrent and Centerfield.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The video approach - so many agencies simply shoot a video and that's the end of it. Concurrent takes the time to develop an appropriate strategy and really understands intrinsically how to yield the best results from talent.
All the onscreen talent were employees who were a little apprehensive about appearing on camera. Concurrent made everyone feel completely at ease and enabled the talent to relax, allowing the best possible moments to be captured for our videos.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None whatsoever. It's a scary process starting with video. Concurrent eliminates that fear and steadies you with their calm, confident demeanor that makes you comfortable, knowing you're in good hands.
