Back-Office System & Web Development for International Bank
the project
“They’re much better than other development companies I’ve worked with.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a manager at an international bank.
What challenge were you trying to address with Concise Software?
We needed help with building a back-office system for different assets.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve done many projects with Concise Software. They’ve developed our back-office system as a web-based application. The first phase was to land the system, so they started by understanding the capital markets and bank infrastructure. The second step was implementing a module where we could automatically settle the transaction of the market maker for both cash and equity markets.
Another project they’ve helped us with is automating the process of issuing products. They’ve also helped us implement a solution where we could do general meetings on Blockchain. Additionally, Concise Software has developed a website for turbo certificates where our clients can see the whole market. We gave them the wireframes and the details of what we needed. The site is an information/education platform, and the team has developed a module for education.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager and four other people from Concise Software.
How did you come to work with Concise Software?
Choosing a partner took time, and Concise Software went through strict procedures. For us, the choice wasn’t only about the cost but also the quality of the developers.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent €1 million (approximately $1 million USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Concise Software is good at what they do and very professional. The feedback from our internal teams has been good; our project manager enjoys working with them. The team working on the back-office system is also very happy with them.
How did Concise Software perform from a project management standpoint?
They work in an agile way, using Jira and Slack for project management and communication. We’ve had some delays due to our projects being more innovative and not standard.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed with Concise Software’s project managers — they have a lot of experience. Overall, they’re much better than other development companies I’ve worked with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re hiring external IT people, and we would prefer it if they hired all of their IT developers in-house.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you want to work with Concise Software, you must be as professional as them.

How can investing be better, simpler, and more enjoyable? The market leader in banking solutions – Santander has the answer.
Challenge
Bank custodians are responsible for the safekeeping of assets, as well as overseeing that transactions executed in mutual funds are correct. Thus, depositaries have a great responsibility. Creating an online platform that deals with the services of a custodian bank is a huge challenge because you have to make sure that everything is properly secured and will meet the expectations of customers.
While realizing tasks for the Santander bank – one of the biggest financial institutions in the world, we faced the challenge of working on the Santander Custodian platform. We used our previous, rich experience in fintech projects and the potential of our team.

MoNa – The Mother Natura
Combating the increasing carbon footprint of our activities can be done in a modern and accessible way for users. Showing them the activities that can lower the carbon footprint and the ability to calculate the environmental impact are values that are fundamental in the MONA app.
Challenge
At Concise Software, we were responsible for creating a mobile application designed to help mobile device users implement good environmental practices. Establishing one’s own carbon footprint is supposed to be a factor in raising awareness of the problem of increasing use and waste of the Earth’s resources.
The goal was to create a coherent platform allowing to calculate the carbon footprint taking into account all activities, including those that support the environment. In addition, the user should have access to certified projects that help offset one’s own carbon footprint and show how to better protect the planet.
TDS MoNa at a glance
Global warming is a fact of life – it makes sense to know how we can help the planet. The MONA application allows you to calculate your carbon footprint and find ways to reduce it. You can share your results, successes, and ideas with your friends, who together with you can contribute to lowering your impact on the environment.
The user in the MONA app is able to set their own goals and enter their own methods for offsetting the carbon footprint they generate. Segregating waste, planting trees, caring for natural elements – all of these can be highlighted in the MONA application and will contribute to lowering the calculated carbon footprint. The results can be compared with others and the overall carbon footprint for Germany can also be checked.
What we have done:
- offset payments (integration with Stripe)
- one-time payments, and subscription models
- Authentication with Amazon Cogito
- UI and functionality improvements
- integration with Google Analytics
- Bug fixes

Fundraising platform
Build an application that allows everyone to be invited to join the bootstrapping of a new two-sided marketplace and an investment ecosystem, and to once and for all democratize innovation and creation.
Neufund at a glance
Neufund is a community-owned fundraising platform. It acts as a bridge between the investment world and the blockchain space. Using Neufund’s legal and technical infrastructure, startups and established companies alike can legally issue a new type of asset we call tokenized equity.
Technology:
- Blockchain
- Ethereum
- Smart Contracts
- Solidity
- Tokens
- Javascript
- ReactJS
The results
With the help of Concise, Neufund provides creators with the tool they need to fund their ventures by going directly to those who believe in their success. This tool allows the following:
- reduce transaction costs between the two sides of the investment process
- open up the investment space for private equity to everyone
- eliminate geographical constraints from venture creation
- make real-world private equity fully liquid by tokenizing it
- onboard off-chain companies to the crypto economy
- provide legally secure management functions for equity management
To make it a functioning blockchain economy we introduced a platform token called Neumark, along with several mechanisms that determine the nature of transactions between platform participants and thus Neumark’s value.
The two main types of actors on the platforms are investors and companies. Investors bring capital to the platform and look for interesting investment opportunities in companies. Companies are businesses of various kinds that look for funding by offering part of their shares to investors. The fundamental transaction on our platform is investment, whereby investors become shareholders in companies via Equity Token Offerings (ETO).

Copyright storing service
Digital content lacks metadata information such as authorship, ownership, history and often the date of creation. The issue here relates to the proper and verifiable attribution of ownership, licensing and creation. Furthermore, metadata can be altered or removed after it has been finalized by the author, transferred to the cloud, resized or optimized for network performance.
This inherent lack of verifiable information breeds uncertainty, especially when applied to complex chains of licensing, syndication and ownership. For example, a digital publisher licensing a pre-published article does not have the ability to be certain of whether the document in its current form is authentic and owned and able to be licensed. Currently, there is an immediate opportunity for an open protocol to establish the rightful ownership of creative assets, but this protocol must allow for inherently complex and adaptable ownership models.
Technology:
- Blockchain
- Ethereum
- Smart Contracts
- Web3
- Single Page Application
- MetaMask
- ReactJS
- JavaScript
- NodeJS
The results
With the help of Concise, our client was successful in deciding what the real needs were. Our help enabled them to answer questions about the best possible choice regarding technologies and methods, and to make the correct decision about business-technology solutions.

Garden
Garden, created by Zander Adell, is an application that allows you to manage contacts with people you care about the most. It allows you to add notes, reminders and personal data to each of them. It checks whether you contact specific people according to a pre-determined schedule. The application is great for managing contacts with family, friends and colleagues and at the same time it allows you to avoid the constant use of social media.
Garden, a program that we worked on with Zander Adell, turned out to be a really successful business project, which gained the interest of users and tech media around the world. The application receives very high ratings in the AppStore store and is still used by a significant group of people. We are honored to have been able to work on this project!
The result
Concise Software created Garden, a great-looking application, to be compliant with the latest standards. We engaged our Design and UX specialists to create a user-friendly environment. Work on the program was supervised by our QA team.
Concise took the time to understand the requirements and was passionate about creating a successful product. Their ability to mold a vision into a concrete plan with efficient solutions makes them a valuable partner. Alexander “Zander” Adell, Founder, Garden

Connected KNX
Modern solutions need a proper way to present them to the world. KNX, the supplier of a complete standard for the smart home, has developed an ingenious technology that makes the world simpler, safer and more friendly. What have we managed to do for our partner?
KNX is the creator of an extensive smart home service system. Different devices are connected within one infrastructure (according to the IoT concept) – sensors are able to recognize the presence of the householder and trigger specific procedures (e.g. switching on central heating, switching on lights). In addition, an extensive sensor network recognizes hazards such as fires, burglars, floods and, based on them, the system is able to warn the owner about a dangerous event.
Our company had to create an interactive presentation, which would be displayed at a fair on an interactive touch screen with 12 points of touch recognition. By using the potential of a reference device, our task was to create a perfectly functioning “test environment” that a potential KNX customer or partner could familiarize themselves with.
The results
In the time agreed with the client, we managed to create a fully functioning program – an interactive presentation according to the received guidelines. We have designed a solution that fully satisfies the client’s needs and works perfectly on reference equipment. The program created by our company matches the actual functionality of the infrastructure offered by KNX.
The presentation was used by our client during trade fairs, where he promoted his own infrastructure. This project was a complete success – we are extremely proud to be able to work with KNX!

Ingarden
We are increasingly paying attention to what we eat and whether we can grow it ourselves with the tools we have at home. There is probably nothing nicer than knowing that the oregano we add to our spaghetti is something that was grown in our home and not brought from the store.
Other foods, such as sprouts, can also be successfully grown at home, even if we don’t have our own garden. Ingarden proves that this is absolutely possible.
INGARDEN AT A GLANCE
Ingarden is a product that will help customers grow organic, GMO-free, attractive spices/plants in your own home, which you can successfully use in everyday use. These types of solutions are becoming more and more popular as the public becomes more aware of how these types of technologies and ideas can change the way we eat and use the environment.
Having a minimal ecological footprint is central to Ingarden’s core values and ideology. Ingarden’s goal is to grow our sustainable business for the global community and our world. Naturally, they use eco-friendly materials to build Ingarden, and all of their fresh microgreens are certified organic, as well as herbicide, pesticide, and GMO-free.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE
- Configuration and hosting selection: we used the AWS platform to create an online store base.
- CMS configuration: we chose WordPress as the content management platform, appropriate modifications were implemented according to the client’s guidelines
- Implementation of an e-commerce platform: we used WooCommerce and WooCommerce Subscriptions for this purpose, we adapted these technologies to the client’s needs

Convenient logging into the online store: we used the following technologies: Facebook, Google, PayPal

Hungry House
Hungryhouse, owned by Delivery Hero, is a synonym for tasty and reliable online takeaway and food delivery services. Their platform, which allows you to order great meals in minutes, has gathered more than 10, 000 restaurants and 550, 000 honest customer reviews.
Concise started working with Delivery Hero from one of the first versions of the app, and so we have helped them to grow and refine it, and gain more and more traction with their mobile products. We offer technical project analysis, development, professional tests and advice on features that might be important from a user perspective.
Hungry customers can order and pay for a takeaway food delivery in seconds, or choose a delivery time that suits them. We created mechanisms for searching by postcode or using the “Nearby” function to discover a new local favourite in the neighborhood.
Customers can also intuitively flick through each menu, which can be used in four directions. This, and many more...

Alve Therapy
Telemedicine is a direction in the development of medical science that is constantly growing in importance. By consulting a specialist online, some services will become more accessible for people from all over the world. Concise Software had the opportunity to participate in the creation of the ALVE platform, which connects the patient with the physiotherapist in real-time.
CHALLENGE
The challenge in this project was to create a fast, perfectly functioning communication platform, in which specific functions would be available, e.g. real-time online video chat with therapists. The communicator had to be perfectly secure – after all, we have patient data, and these are always private information. Therefore, we had to create a communicator that would be comfortable to use and as safe as possible. The “Whiteboard” was to enable physiotherapists to present how to perform specific exercises or pass on tasks to the patient. Both the patient and the therapist also require their own private storage space, where they will keep the previous information about the exercises they perform.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE
We faced the challenge of creating a telemedical platform for physiotherapy. Using our experience we have created a friendly, multiplatform (PWA) solution that meets the latest standards.
- A platform that allows for text chat and video chat, which supports the contact required in physiotherapy.
- Implementation of data space (in the form of an internal disk), e.g. for patients’ medical data, as well as a Calendar allowing for simple planning of upcoming visits (with reminders).
- “Whiteboard“ function, a real-time drawing space for therapy.
- Implementation of encryption in accordance with medical standards imposed by the client.

Kununu
Kununu is the leading jobs and careers community in Austria, Germany and Switzerland which allows job-seekers a free inside look into what it is like to work at more than 70,000 companies from this region. Our team had a pleasure to help Kununu with web development tasks.

Ubitricity
Over the past few years, ubitricity has developed an integration of smart mobile metering inside cars themselves. Alongside this, charging cables and charge spots are developed into special, and economic, sockets suitable for almost universal installation, e. g. on walls or inside public lamp posts.
At the same time, modern IT and telecommunications, as well as the virtualisation of networks, ensures that users can take their own electricity beyond the confines of distribution networks or control areas right to the charging spot, e. g. they can charge power generated by the solar panels installed on their roof.
In record time, the team at Concise helped ubitricity deliver and publish a mobile application for both iOS and Android.

Videobeat
Video marketing has been on the rise in recent times. Content sites such as YouTube have grown tremendously and have gained the attention of internet users. Projects like Videobeat are the answer to the growing needs.
VIDEOBEAT AT A GLANCE
Videobeat is a video marketing agency based in Hamburg, Germany. The tools produced by Videobeat allow a very transparent study of the viewership of individual video campaigns in different channels.
Their data-driven approach to video marketing leads the company to the point then they needed our support in the development of their own tracking & analytic tool.
It is a great honor for Concise Software to be a part of this project. Videobeat is an innovative platform that will allow video marketers to better measure the effectiveness of their efforts. Advanced data processing is something that works perfectly in Videobeat – we were responsible for creating this platform for our client.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE
- Preparation of the analytical platform – we created the framework of the service for Videobeat users
- Connecting the algorithm to the tool – we made sure the whole thing worked properly
- Platform design – we made sure that the service was user-friendly and intuitive
- Preparing the whole using Vue.js / Python / Django – we used the newest technologies to create a fast running platform
- Bug fixes – we made sure that all bugs were fixed.

Digital Agency 3.0
The most fundamental questions nowadays are how do we, as a forward-thinking agency, stay relevant in an age of unlimited data, complex networks and Globalisation. This can be better phrased as ‘How might we future-proof our agency?’
As a distributed company we no longer think of ourselves as a classic company, but more as a marketplace for opportunities, that together provide services that an Agency would build in the classic model. We think of ourselves more as a community of experts rather than a company with a structure.
Technology:
- Blockchain
- Ethereum
- Smart Contracts
- Web3
- Single Page Application
- Meta Mask
- ReactJS
- Javascript
- NodeJS
The results:
As a solution to future challenges and an outline for a type of agency, a project was created called Agency 3.0. This is a vision of how this future agency will exist. It will be established on the foundations of transparency, distributed ownership, autonomous organization, and blockchain. Blockchain will provide Agency 3.0 with a Toolbox for building organizations. Further, blockchain will assist in providing the basic building blocks that we will use to construct the agency of the future.

Santander eVoting
CHALLENGE
The task to be performed by Concise Software in the context of the e-voting platform for the capital market was to create a coherent solution for banking in the form of a front-end application running in a Bank hosting environment.
During the realization of this task, we closely monitored how various tasks are carried out in the capital market, and a plan was created on how to respond to the problems that arise when performing certain activities in this environment. Having already had a full view of the capital market situation, we proceeded to create a secure solution that could be used in the banking environment.
SANTANDER EVOTING AT A GLANCE
E-voting platform was created to show how to conduct voting between shareholders in a simpler way using a blockchain platform.
The blockchain-based e-voting platform is the National Depository for Securities’ response to the growing needs of the capital market, especially in the area of post-trading services. The cooperation of many entities participating in the Platform will also bring measurable benefits for business, ensuring transparency and the highest level of trust in the area of provided services. After creating a plan and prototypes of the application, we proceeded to create an application based on the e-voting platform with a dedicated design, which can be used not only in banking but also by other capital market players.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE
- Frontend application – written in Angular, it provides appropriate speed and security
- Backend configuration – the platform is hosted on OpenShift, so its operation is stable and fast
- Dedicated design – modern, simple design, which can be handled by anyone
- Platform conceptualization – we created a plan that was used to create the e-voting platform
- Security – by combining the blockchain platform with our experience in cybersecurity, we are confident that the platform will offer the right level of security.

Let's Day Out
Did you ever have a situation where you wanted to have an interesting day, but didn’t know how? All your friends were busy and you couldn’t think of a way to get to know each other?
Victoria (Let’s Day Out) is the answer to such problems – this mobile application was created to connect people and build new relationships. Artificial intelligence has a huge share in establishing new acquaintances, which, based on the specific characteristics of users, matches the best proposals of acquaintances.
The challenge
The artificial intelligence that drives Victoria (Let’s Day Out) app determines what qualities users should have when they are combined in the search for new contacts.
Thus, when we want to meet new people, we get those contact proposals that may be most valuable to us. Victoria app allows us to chat and meet new friends through the SDK from the Zoom application – this way you can also buy joint tickets for online and offline events (at the moment mainly within London).
As we mentioned earlier, each user has the opportunity to personalize their account in such a way that it is possible to create better “matches” in the service. What’s more, every person participating in the Victoria app has the opportunity to upload social content, including very short a’la Instastories videos.
What we have done
Thanks to the work of our programmers, Let’s Day Out (Let’s Day In) is an application that achieves the intended results of its creators. Using perfectly functioning mechanisms, it connects people and fulfills its task.
We were responsible for:
- “stories” system implementation
- integration with Bambuser to increase the social networking potential of the platform (based on Swift and SDK iOS)
- users matching system based on interests, characteristics, profession, age, gender
- events and payment system integration
We worked with technology and tools: Swift, RxSwift, Bambuser SDK, Nimble, Quick, Jenkins CI.

BlueEyes for Fabernovel and Paris Metro
Living in a big city can cause big problems – especially when you need to create new, disabled-friendly places. The desire to improve disabled commuters’ experiences led to the creation of one of the most helpful indoor navigation tools – BlueEyes, an aid for complex urban environments
Project at a glance
BlueEyes acts as an indoor GPS, a modern navigation tool that solves problems for thousands of people every single day. Dynamic navigation allows users to see their current position and itinerary right from their own smartphone.
The BlueEyes platform includes modern navigation software bundled within the mobile app, and an interpreting database with stored navigation instructions. A user-friendly administration interface allows users to customize the app and access navigation even in different connection conditions.
The results
RATP tested the BlueEyes prototypes twice – in 2006 and 2009, and both tests gave great results. The application received positive feedback from test users, and this helped to trigger rapid app development. The next steps oscillated around deploying BlueEyes navigation in each subway station and RER train station in Paris.

Ars Electronica Center Facade
Ars Electronica Center in Linz is known as the ‘Museum of the Future”. The main mission of this institution is to facilitate the general public’s encounter with new media and virtual reality using interactive forms of expression. Lighting facades are one of the most impressive tools that can express artistic spirit in a modern way.
The lighting facade of the Ars Electronica Center during the Ars Electronica Festival was the largest LED lighting facade installation in Europe, composed of 1,100 LED strips. Each of them can be controlled via an electronic unit; a solution which makes it possible to individually tune colours and brightness of lights. Many artists were invited to use the 40,000 LED lights for their artistic experiments.
This project needed a specific development environment, created to simplify the creative process by using commonly available tools. Like a free application, it is easy to use for an artist, controlled straight from their own computer.

Weezee Love
Weezee is an innovative mobile application for dating via video chat. Thanks to it, users can date (almost) like in real life. An intelligent algorithm matches users with whom it finds the best chances of establishing an interesting conversation during a video chat.
The Weezee dating app lets you video chat with people selected by an algorithm, so you get to know the person you’re chatting with better from the start. This gives users the chance to have a real, believable relationship with another person without the risk that someone else is impersonating their dating buddies.
WEEZEE AT A GLANCE
Weezee is a dating app created by Uli Ziebart in 2016. Its mission was to enable users around the world to build real, valuable relationships with the help of new technologies.
The app allows users to have video chats with people that a smart algorithm has matched with the user. The app also notified users of video chat proposals with other users and displayed upcoming dates.
Due to the fact that video chat was the basis of interaction among users, the application was also equipped with mechanisms to protect users from violations by other people. It gave the possibility to report people breaking the rules or spreading content violating community rules during chats.
The app won first place at the 2016 Love Hackathon in Munich.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE
- Mobile app development – development of the application from scratch with attention to its performance and user friendliness
- Mobile app backend – backend for the application along with the design and implementation of an intelligent algorithm for matching application users
- Web development – development of info-page for the application along with designing its layout
- QA – our testers did their best to track every bug before release

In partnership with a strategic automotive investor, Oply is an enabler and operator of intelligent mobility solutions for the modern world. With its unique blend of expertise, know-how and a proven MaaS platform, Oply solutions are designed to keep the world moving.
No need to privately own the vehicle anymore – the right car is always one (app) click away from you. Oply already operates over 1.000 vehicles across Germany and the UK.
Oply is a platform that allows you to rent cars for short periods of time with the help of your mobile phone. With the Oply mobile app, you can easily book and manage the vehicle you want to use. Oply is present in the cities of the UK and Germany – you do not need to use your own car in some cities, you only need to have access to the Oply app.
For two years, Concise Software has been working on Oply / Examotive mobile applications for Android and iOS platforms. In addition to introducing new features, we were responsible for fixing bugs and implementing new content. The project was completed in September 2019. The applications were written “from scratch” and in the meantime, we started integration for another city – London

Santander Turbos
Investing is a very important activity in the financial market. Turbo certificates are tools that allow for a wide range of activities – but it is also worth having a platform that significantly supports the activities of investors.
Challenge
The world of investing is not particularly transparent for investors. Unfortunately, it is still difficult to find tools for investors that combine the ability to buy certain instruments and further their education. With the Santander Turbos project, we had the opportunity to implement our vision of a platform designed for the investor.
We focused on what investors currently in the financial market expectations. By combining the Turbo certificates with the e-learning platform we allow more investors to comfortably operate in the market. We are sure that such an initiative will contribute to the greater activity of people interested in the capital market.
Santander Turbos at a glance
Turbo certificates are high-risk investment instruments. Experienced investors use them to earn valuable profits in the short term.
However, like any investment, turbo certificates involve risk. For Santander, we have created a platform where investors can learn more about Turbo Certificates and purchase them in a virtual brokerage office.
As part of the overall investment platform, we have also created a place for Santander Bank where investors can learn more about investing – in the education section.
What we have done
- Conceptualization – we formulated assumptions about the platform infrastructure and data architecture
- Frontend & Backend – we use Node.js and Angular to make sure the Turbo certificate platform runs quickly
- Maintenance – while creating the Turbo certificate platform, we made sure that the server configuration is appropriate
- Data source – we used GPW API and Issuer API to create a database of information about Turbo certificates, as requested by the client

Back-Office System & Web Development for International Bank
“They’re much better than other development companies I’ve worked with.”

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm an executive at a motor vehicle manufacturing company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Concise Software?
We needed help with custom software development for our business.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Concise Software created an internal web tool from scratch using WordPress. The product is meant to support our dealer network within the ongoing transformation. The platform has a statistics function and an employee-specific overview of processes — it's mainly a content management tool.
What is the team composition?
There were working with two members of their team, including a project manager who was responsible for the business side and a project lead from the technical department.
How did you come to work with Concise Software?
We found them via another agency. When we started the procurement process, we had a company, and they were the company behind it. With the first company we initially hired, we had some issues regarding compliance, and we directly hired Concise Software afterward.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent about €400,000 (approximately $421,000 USD) with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from January 2018–January 2022.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I highly appreciate that it was uncomplicated to work with them. Overall, I liked working with them, and I also enjoyed their involvement.
How did Concise Software perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was almost perfect; we had weekly meetings to discuss what was happening, what updates we needed, and what further development was required. In terms of tools, they used Jira internally, which I also had access to, but I mainly worked with them through Microsoft Teams and emails.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I always got a response to my feedback within two hours; that's something that I appreciated. We also had easy conversations, and there was very low bureaucracy.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had one last large order at the end of last year; I wanted to have concrete details of how it would look, how they would develop it, and what the final result would be, but it took quite a long time. Other than that, everything was great from my perspective.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Build a relationship with them and communicate very often about what you think is good and what it isn't.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the brand manager for a beverage company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Concise Software?
We needed to redevelop our existing website to deliver state-of-the-art solutions for our demanding segment of customers. We also wanted it to have a fully accessible Drupal CMS.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Concise Software developed our website, both the frontend and backend. They also provided quality control and were in charge of the migration to the new server. Currently, they fix the bugs and do regular optimizations. The most demanding part of the project was integrating the product catalog that we gave them.
What is the team composition?
We initially had one point of contact. However, we’re a demanding client, so we decided to broaden the number of people that we could reach. We’re now in contact with a project manager, a senior developer, and a business development person.
How did you come to work with Concise Software?
I’m sure there was a pitch for this project, but I wasn’t a part of it.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in May 2017, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The website development went well, and the fact that our engagement has lasted more than four years speaks for itself. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we’ve always managed to find a solution and maintained a really good business relationship with them by having a partnering attitude.
How did Concise Software perform from a project management standpoint?
Concise Software always offers very professional and constructive communication; they’re very enjoyable to work with. We use Jira and communicate via email and phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Concise Software efficiently cooperates with third parties. Our engagement has required a flexible approach from their side throughout the years. It hasn’t always been easy, but they’ve been there for us to secure our interest in working with creative teams and some external providers.
Additionally, they have a proactive attitude when it comes to proposing solutions for some outstanding issues. We can always count on them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Concise Software wasn’t in charge of the design, but they weren’t excellent with the design implementation on site either. That’s something that brought up issues in our relationship.
Additionally, the QA of the finished tasks wasn’t the best, which resulted in many escalations. As I said, the communication was professional and constructive, but it required a lot of effort from our side to get there.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Check their competency upfront and verify your expectations to avoid any kind of misunderstandings. Additionally, take the initiative when it comes to improvements and day-to-day operations and optimizations.

Web Dev & API Integration for Cybersecurity Startup

the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the managing director of a cybersecurity and cyberintelligence startup.
What challenge were you trying to address with Concise Software?
We needed help creating our website, as well as with API integration.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Concise Software did the UI/UX programming of our WordPress website. They had help from another agency, but they focused on the technical setup and site maintenance. Additionally, they built an API integration that connected the site to a two-part drive.
What is the team composition?
My primary contacts were Jakub (Project Manager) and the head of development.
How did you come to work with Concise Software?
They were recommended to me by an investment partner.
How much have you invested with them?
We had spent around $15,000–$20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from December 2020–February 2021. The main scope of work has been completed, but they continue to implement adjustments.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Concise Software kept the project on time and within budget, which was important for me. They had a very detailed process of making a plan for the project and they stuck to that. Additionally, they kept to our timeline and our collaboration had been good.
How did Concise Software perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated mostly by video conference and occasionally over the Figma bots through Slack where we reviewed drafts.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their work had been super satisfying. They performed excellently when they interacted with our external backend provider. When they needed help with the other team, they gave me a heads up so I could intervene at the right moment.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only part where we had to adjust was with their layout design. They made some drafts that showed how the page and its design would look, but they didn’t meet my expectations. That is why we added another agency to work on the UI/UX design.
However, it wasn’t Concise Software’s fault, because we haven’t discussed it in the beginning as we thought we wouldn’t need it. Unfortunately, it didn’t proceed as we thought it would, but their team was flexible to accommodate our changes.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They pretty much know their stuff. From the design perspective, you have to be clear about your expectations and communicate with them if they could provide and include it in the project. Check upfront if they can deliver a task or if a task was included in the offer.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm a IT Lead in a car rental price comparison. We have more 8 platforms to support the European Market and US.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concise Software, and what were your goals?
As a car rental price comparison, we have a lot of integrations with our partners. Currently, we are migrating these integrations from a legacy application.
We hired Concise to help us in one of those integrations, and the goals was implement several use cases to help in the communication between us (HAPPYCAR and our partner). Everything based on our base project/template, to keep every integration in the same standard.
How did you select Concise Software and what were the deciding factors?
We already had worked with them in the same kind of project (for another partner). And based on this previous good experience, it was easy to decide work with them again.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Basically, the project involved an API communication, so we provided the partner documentation and another document mapping their (partner) domain with ours. The deliverables were per use case (e.g. book, search, cancel, etc). Also, the technologies used were: Typescript, NodeJS, Jest and Google Protobuf.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There were 2 people working with us: 1 developer and 1 Project Manager.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Some feedbacks that we can give:
- A bug was hard to find and fix, now it is easy because the code is much simpler;
- The deployment before took ~4h, now takes ~5 minutes
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The project management was great. We had a developer's replace during the project, and it was transparent for us. We communicated through Slack, JIRA and Github.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
As I worked directly with the PM and the developer, for me the code quality and the communication were the most impressive things. If they had any question, normally they tried to do something by theirself before, so when they asked us, they already had some idea in mind about how to solve the issue.
Also, we just need to explain a task once to them. The communication was really good, and our meetings normally were enjoyful.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
There are always space to improvements, but to be honest I don't have anything in mind now.

Please describe your company and your position there.
We are an e-health startup digitizing neurological rehabilitation. I work as product owner.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concise Software, and what were your goals?
We were a newly founded startup with a small team. For our minimal viable product we needed an experienced software agency who could provide the technical knowledge and staff which we didn’t have in-house.
How did you select Concise Software and what were the deciding factors?
We did an online research on software agencies within Germany and Europe. Concise Software was recommended by a close friend which was a big advantage for the agency. After conducting interviews with different agencies, Concise Software had the best price performance ratio.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had a kickoff meeting to discuss our goals, our company and the product vision. We also discussed the setup of the product and decided on a progressive web application for Safari & Google Chrome browsers. Based on our mockups we also added a designer to the project.
After a few iterations we developed a first set of final designs which were then passed on to the development team. After about 4 months with continuous feedback loops between the software team, designer, CEO and product owner, the MVP was ready to be launched. In the following 8 months we added important key features in a post-mvp phase continuously improved the product.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A technical project manager was our main point of contact. Besides him there were 2 back-end and 2 front-end developers as well as QA and DevOps. Depending on the priorities, speed and budget we were able to reduce or expand the team.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The team was fast with the development process. I appreciated their flexibility in terms of team setup depending on our budget and time. Agencies can be a big risk as they are not involved in the day-to-day business and might not be aware of the business context.
However, the tech project manager tried to not only complete a task but also to see the bigger picture and came up with good solutions taking into consideration the company’s context.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We worked in 14-day sprints and therefore had a sprint planning meeting in the beginning and a sprint review meeting in the end of a sprint.
In the beginning, I mainly communicated with the tech manager but towards the end the team got more ‘familiar’ with me and direct communication was possible. We used Slack, Jira, Confluence, Github, which worked very well.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I liked the precise, honest and constructive communication. Especially with remote teams with different languages it is quite common that misunderstandings occur. However, with clear and effective communication I was able to quickly understand when the team was blocked and what their questions were.
Also, it was very helpful for the collaboration that the agency is very structured, has clear processes and communicates those to the client. They delivered a high quality product.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The final costs exceeded the original cost estimate. This was partly due to our own changes in strategy and requirements. However, several bugs and their fixing also added up to the total costs. Concise’s development process, including Q&A, can increase costs while pivoting quite easily, and needs to be considered especially when building an MVP with several iterations.

I am a Industry Sales Lead at a German consulting company. My experience consulting unit designs and develops digital products.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concise Software, and what were your goals?
We were developing an after sales knowledge system for one of our clients as a web application. Goal: Deliver the client an easy to use solution which will be responsible for keeping all of the procedures, processes and company internal information in one place. Once digitised, these different procedures and processes will be always up to date and available for all employees across the world.
How did you select Concise Software and what were the deciding factors?
It was another project in which we worked together. We had good experience and the new projects matched their abilities.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Development team prepared an architecture of web app, focusing on business needs requirements, data integration & security, and application quality. The team has built the application and is still maintaining it.
The Quality Assurance Specialist ensured product quality. The Project Manager dealt with requirements analysis and team management. Concise Software provided us with technical consulting services and also advised us which web technology will be the best choice for this kind of application.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
3. Senior Web developer, one quality assurance specialist, and one PM.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The software product was delivered and accepted by the client, met all requirements. We went over budget. On a general scheme, we calulated efforts, then client cut budget, but we did not reduce the effort enough. So we ended up with nearly the same budget like planned originally.
From a project management point of view, this is something to improve. Deliverables were generally within our quality standards.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The project was managed by me & our Product Owner and Tech Project Manager from Concise’s side. The style was very pragmatic. We got fast replies to our request and we could rely on the fact, that they never would bury important topics. Timelines we mostly accurate.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their fast answers, can-do attitude, easy setup, and good quality were traits of an amazing team.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a former Chief Marketing Officer of Rambus - American technology company that designs, develops and licenses chip interface technologies and architectures that are used in digital electronics products.
For what projects/services did your company hire Concise Software?
We were developing Pay&Go mobile apps - users could collect all goods and with the app (by scanning barcodes) make a payment and leave the store. No store member interaction was needed. Scope of another project which we developed together with Concise was a cross platform SaaS solution to be integrated by 3rd party merchants into their e-commerce websites and if applicable mobile apps (iOS + Android). Goal of this solution is to allow online payment combined with a loyalty program.
What were your goals for this project?
Enabling retailers to create a unified payment application for both online and in-store payment through a single secure mobile wallet, our team creates a frictionless shopping experience for consumers. Main goal: making the in-store and online payment check-out and payment process hassle free by digitizing payment, gift, loyalty cards as well as coupons and receipts. Once digitized, these different payment currencies can be unified into a single transaction.
How did you select this vendor?
We were advised to work with the Concise Software team by one of our partners.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
First project: Mobile Development team prepared an architecture of mobile apps, focusing on business needs requirements, data integration & security, and application quality. The team has built the applications and maintained them. Second project: Web team prepared an architecture of web app (Angular), focusing on business needs requirements, data integration & security, and application quality. The team has built the applications and maintained them so far. Quality Assurance Specialist ensured product quality. Project Manager dealt with requirements analysis and team management. Concise Software provided us with technical consulting services helping us to overcome integration challenges that emerged during the project. That team built the Android and iOS native mobile applications, integrated it, and ensured its security on time.
What was the team composition?
First project: Two senior Android developers, two senior iOS developers, one quality assurance specialist, and one PM. Second project: Four senior angular developers, one quality assurance specialist, and one PM.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Our engagement accelerated time to market and enabled us to deploy live at scale.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The project was managed by our Product Owner from our side and Tech Project Manager from Concise’ side. This was a very effective set-up.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Development seniority level, communication skills, ability to travel (they were able to work from our Rotterdam office many times).
Are there any areas for improvement?
We have already recommended Concise Software, so they only should keep up with the good job they are doing.

Digital Product Development for Integrated Design Business
“They generally bend over backwards to meet their deadlines.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the managing partner at a design company. We work with integrative design, which combines several different disciplines, such as strategic consultancy on branding (both internally and externally), product development, service development, and communications. We have several different specialist units such as brand design, interaction design, and industrial design. Additionally, we have one central unit which focuses on user experience across all of these disciplines called experience design, which I manage.
What challenge were you trying to address with Concise Software?
I work with Concise on a number of different projects, and usually, we work on product design and development, both frontend and at least consulting services on the backend. We tend to use our interpretation of design thinking, and they fit into that very well.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We typically start out with a user-based project phase and develop overall goals as part of the project plan, and then we transition to implementation and a sprint-based mode of operation. In terms of technology, we've worked in Angular and React, with a CMS they've built themselves. We've built mobile applications with them in Native, as well as hosting and more architectural projects. They've done technical consulting for one of our blockchain technology projects as well.
What is the team composition?
We've had some consultative projects with 2-3 members of their team, but we've also had some larger projects with them during peak times with 12 members.
How did you come to work with Concise Software?
They were recommended to me by a colleague. We went through a formal pitch process, at the time, and we selected Concise because they demonstrated a structured approach. They also showcased a clear understanding of our strategic goals as well as the technical requirements to achieve those goals.
Communication was also very crucial; in every complex project, whether it's service design or product design, you need to hold on to different people with different expertise, and different terminology to come together. If the communication doesn't work, you can have the smartest people in the world, but if the communication doesn't work, you won't get anywhere.
How much have you invested with them?
In my current collaboration with them, we've invested €20,000–€30,000 ( approximately $22,000 – 33,000 USD). Combining the work, they've done with my current company and my previous one, however, it's been €300,000–€400,000 (approximately $330,000 – $440,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
I first started working with them at a different company in June 2017. In my current company, we began working together in April 2019, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Generally speaking, they've demonstrated very good attention to detail, very high-quality technical abilities, a good understanding of our business goals, and the technological implications of those goals.
How did Concise Software perform from a project management standpoint?
From day one, they were very good at communication. Communication is channeled in a very structured manner, and we typically only have to talk with one point of contact, which is great. They’re really responsive and have a good understanding of the design process. They're great at taking feedback and have no ego, which is very important as well. They generally bend over backwards to meet their deadlines.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They're very good at listening and understanding, which sets really sets them apart. They're also very nice people, which is not a trivial factor working with a lot of different people; it's relatively difficult to have everyone get along and have a good time doing it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They are very enthusiastic and passionate about what they do, and sometimes that can be a good thing or a bad thing. They could perhaps reign in their energy at times.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to expose them to the bigger picture. I've found they've provided great value across multiple points, not just developing software; they're a real "people business" so it helps to connect with them on an individual level across teams to ensure things work well.
The client is happy with Concise Software’s work and professionalism. The team has received good feedback from internal stakeholders. They’re agile, and they communicate effectively through Slack. Their project managers stand out for their experience, contributing to the partnership’s success.
