“Expectations were high, and frankly Comsense met that. The calibre of the representatives that we’ve had conversations with has been excellent. We are world’s largest auction base for secondary metal scrap materials. We were facing issues wrt handling client expectations with regards to estimating the prices whcih these auctions would yeild and that too in a very short time of 3-4 days . The Time that we get to conduct an event . This is a tedious offline process. Also We wanted to have an automated mechansim to identify the right bidders for an event and also increase the bidder participation.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to develop an automated mechanism to predict the expected price that could be achieved from an Auction and also identify the prospective buyers for the product . This had to be achieved using the historical prices, the historical prices, participation of the buyers and the external data related to the prime materials published on certain online resources.

How did you select this vendor?

They were selected based on the POC's done by them, the approach that they had thought off wrt the solution and the team they could put up

Describe the project in detail.

The Project was in two parts. 1. The price estimation model We sell around 2000 odd type of various steel related products from our metal junction platform. These are all secondary steel which we sell for our clients like SAI/Tata Steel , RINL Hero Motocorp etc. We had been giving offline price estimations for the products being sold , basis the offline calculations. As we were scaling up we wanted to have a solution whereby we could predict the prices of the products being sold without manual interventions based on data alone

What was the team composition?

The Comsense team comprised of 2 data science personnel, 2 from the IT , headed by one of their Director. The Mjunction team comprised of the Head - Analytics and an IT expert from the Analytics , the BU head and the IT person representing the BU along with the category managers

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to complete the project, give the BU visibility on the prediction both wrt the prices that could be achieved for the products being auction and the buyer recommendor modles.

It was quite smooth, with the mjunctin team - core group interacting with the relevant persons at Comsense. Since Both the teams were in actuality Data scientiss and hence were on the same page wrt the possibilities that Machine learning mol

Sign-up for the loyalty program:

  • starts with an SMS sign-up for the loyalty program; database pushed to Comsense.
  • proceeds with email send-outs following a customer funnel that terminates only after 3 attempts to the customer.
  • any positive response is pushed to the email of the loyalty program in-charge which laters gets loaded to the customer database.
  • During the POC, this is the process employed. In the actual implem, everything is automated. Data is pushed via a program.

What was the team composition?

A lead project leader, programmers, a business analyst, an accounts person.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We moved to sign up IBM with Comsense providing services for 4 projects because we will be able to fast track our ability to collect data, nourish it and then initiate cross sell initiatives with it.

We will also be able to reduce manhrs spent on renewing existing customers. Finally, to automate marketing messages to our e-commerce customers, the IBM Watsons tools will be very useful.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Super effective! When we were in the brink of giving up or simplifying things just to get it over with, Altaf was super supportive and offered solutions that came out to be effective.

Regular SCRUM meetings followed by minutes of the meeting that were short and crisp, identifies what is expected in the next mtg and who is to deliver. Very organized indeed.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their willingness to go the extra mile.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Webex meetings are sometimes difficult to follow because of the medium and the language.

I am the owner of KlarrGlas. We are a manufacturing company that has OEM supplies as well as online sales.

What challenge were you trying to address with Comsense Technologies?

We needed help with email marketing. Our team used to struggle to close deals because we were always late with our quotations.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They've focused on email marketing for us. With the system they implemented, an email from us pops up just as someone is about to open their inbox. The software tracks the pattern of the customer. This makes sure that we say top of mind with our customers. I have reports that come to me that document how their efforts are performing. As well as email marketing, they have content writers in-house. They've also created the content for the emails that are sent out.

What is the team composition?

I initially worked with two people. Currently, I interact with one person who used to do all the backend processing and integration aspects. We initially had a problem with one person, but they then gave us someone else to work with.

How did you come to work with Comsense Technologies?

I found them through an acquaintance. When we started our business, we were very low on sales. At that point, I wasn't great at marketing or sales. Someone suggested that I do something that will generate leads through email and suggested I get in touch with their team. They came and gave me a small demo. After seeing success there, we hired them. 

How much have you invested in them?

I've spent under $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in June 2017, and the work is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In the first two months, I wasn’t really sure how things were going, as the graph was stagnant. Things really picked up later on, though.

How did Comsense Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

During integration, there was one person that wasn't hitting their mark. I wasn't happy, so I spoke to them about it. They assigned someone new to the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I am not tech-savvy, so I took a very traditional approach to marketing. They were the only company we were talking to that provided this type of service. We asked them to take things slow in terms of new efforts and ideas.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could work on their price because I think they could have given me a better deal. The price will go down on an ongoing basis, though.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

In my case, it didn’t work out with the first person we collaborated with. However, they were accommodating in giving us someone else to work on the integration.
