We manufacture our own hardware devices, but not in all solutions, so we approached Comarch to assist with skilled developers who understand coding of communication protocols to integrate third party hardware and software into our data streams. This extended into the further development of our existing solutions to optimise, and more importantly, develop feature enhancements that generate customer value from the data captured.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Comarch came through a recommendation from one of my contacts as they had carried our work for him before and he rated them very highly for their skill and professionalism.

The initial project was the development of data ingestion process from third party telematics devices along with vehicle OEM data. This coded in c# and delivered in 2 week sprints. Beyond this work the team moved to feature enhancement of the existing product and were necessary refactoring logic to improve performance. This included development within Azure and AWS using a mixture of .NetCore, Python, C#, ASP.Net, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, all delivered through build pipelines for deployment to the appropriate cloud environments.

There were 2 developers that were part of the wider development team. They attending general meetings, stand ups and were integrated as if employed by us making them a highly valued resource within the team and company.

The developments, particularly around the refactoring and enhancements has removed ~£12k per month of hosting costs, delivered a reduction of 5 FTE (~£100k per year) from operational staff, and greatly enhanced our product and proposition to our customer base.

They work fast and document the development and deliveries very well. We communicated through Teams having a daily stand up and they were integrated into our internal teams channels to allow quick conversation and response as needed.

Better notification of time off during the start of the project would have helped, but this improved with integration with the team.

AirFuel engaged Comarch to build a pioneering automated test system to support device certification, interoperability testing, compliance verification, and standardization of our AirFuel Resonant technology.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Comarch is a recognized leader in testing and certification for technical standards, and they were trusted by our Board and members.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
Phase 1: Creation of Automated Test System (ATS) version 1.0 by Comarch who started supporting AirFuel from the early stage of Resonant standard development.
Phase 2: Design of a complex test system: ATS is an innovative and comprehensive combination of software and hardware including manufacturing, developing the test engine, synchronization algorithms and automation of CTS, RAT & IOP test cases. ATS was subject to QA to ensure requirements were met.
Phase 3: Development of ATS version 2.0 – adaptation of test system to the latest AirFuel Magnetic Resonance Baseline System Specification.
Completion: Delivery of Automated Test System to AirFuel Alliance ATLs (Authorized Testing Laboratories) in order to verify compliance with the Resonant standard. Cooperation included system support and maintenance as well as onsite trainings.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Automating the device testing and certification process is crucial for companies deploying AirFuel Resonant technology. ATS's modular architecture makes it easy to adjust and upgrade the testing tool to meet the latest standards updates. Test tool maintenance and case development costs are lower. We are able to write proprietary test cases using Python, and have access to automatic versioning and common formatting for test scripts. Our members and ATLs can access comprehensive documentation and training, and have the opportunity to perform pre-certification test runs. Lastly, a sophisticated and easy to use log viewer and interpreter is available to help read and analyze results.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We were working across continents and companies, and this was a lengthly, complex and involved project. But the Comarch team was responsive, dedicated and always up to the task.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Comarch has deep expertise in technical standards development and testing. That background really aided our project flow and end results.
