"It was definitely worth every penny."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a software house, offering IT services to clients all around the world. I am the owner.
What challenge were you trying to address with CodeRunner IT?
We had no capacity in our team to develop a native iOS application. Our client was interested in a couple of products. Others were delivered by our team. However, we do not develop native iOS apps. Hence, we reached out to CodeRunner
What was the scope of their involvement?
The scope was design and programming of a mobile iOS app. The service that was provided was native iOS development and project management of this development as well.
How did you come to work with CodeRunner IT?
I've known the owners from my university days, and I trust them. It was a first project we've outsourced with them.
How much have you invested with CodeRunner IT?
It was about $10000.
What is the status of this engagement?
It is done now. The timeline was a bit more stretched than originally planned – from July 2016 until January 2017.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
The result was a well-functioning iOS app. I guess there were a couple of bugs on the way but, overall, the service was on a decent level.
How did CodeRunner IT perform from a project management standpoint?
I'd say no issues there.
What did you find most impressive about CodeRunner IT?
Nothing comes to my mind, to be honest.
Are there any areas CodeRunner IT could improve?
They could maybe do more testing. However, as I said, there weren't too many bugs after all.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
VR Global is based in US and Europe. We’re a software company creating sales and marketing solutions utilizing virtual development. I am the Chief Executive Officer of the European branch.
What challenge were you trying to address with CodeRunner IT?
We were researching native development on Android.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We used them for R&D [research & development] for creating the prototype on Android combining rendering engines that we’ve developed trying to make Android applications.
How did you come to work with CodeRunner IT?
They were referred by to us by a colleague of mine.
How much have you invested with CodeRunner IT?
Around $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We completed it at the beginning of 2016.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We were happy with working with them. They followed up on the project. There were different parts of the innovation and they handled it well. It was a research project.
How did CodeRunner IT perform from a project management standpoint?
It wasn’t overly complicated. They just integrated into our workflow. It went pretty well.
What did you find most impressive about CodeRunner IT?
There were no problems. All deadlines were met. Often outsourcing companies have problems with that.
Are there any areas CodeRunner IT could improve?
No.

Social Application Development for Android Platform
“They weren't too difficult to work with.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Please describe your organization.
We're a startup making a social app for connecting people through social media. It's a mobile app for people to share interests and find new people to do stuff together.
What is your position?
I am the CEO.
What business challenge were you trying to address with CodeRunner IT?
We needed to develop an Android version of the app with a quick turnaround. We made an iOS version, and we realized we needed Android, too. We don't have an internal Android team.
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.
They finished the first version of Android based on our design. The technical design was up to them. They followed our UI [user interface] design guide and our requirements to make the app. They were good at engaging with us. We didn't get involved in the architecture design part of it. The first thing we saw was the first node, which looked like what we were expecting. The next step was then debugging. Maybe because we didn't monitor them tightly, later on we had some issues. Working remotely, there's the issue of communication of the requirements. Our requirements were not super defined. A couple of things we thought would be common sense had to be clarified later.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
It was $30,000 Canadian [approximately $23,000 USD]. The app is about 30 megabytes.
What is the status of this engagement?
It's complete. It was a three-month engagement from December 2015 to March 2016.
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
We have 5,000 downloads [as of August 2015]. The rating on Google Store is a 4.3 or 4.4. The debugging period was expensive. We had to fix those. The performance was not the best. There was an issue with the original design where we didn't spend enough time checking things. It's OK for a first release but, after that, we did have to redo stuff.
How did CodeRunner IT perform from a project management standpoint?
It was OK. There was some stuff that wasn't specifically stated in the spec, but I thought was common sense that people should know. But, they wanted it very detailed. If something is not on the spec, they don't do it.
What distinguishes CodeRunner IT from other providers?
In general, they were on time and willing to fix the feedback we gave them. They weren't too difficult to work with.
Is there anything CodeRunner IT could have improved or done differently?
The initial design period was limited, so it resulted in some quality issues that we had to fix later. Maybe we should have had a provision in terms of the design before they proceeded to the next stage. The whole thing was fast paced.
