Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a product manager in the tech industry. At a previous company, we began to develop web and mobile apps in conjunction with a not-for-profit agency, WildAid. I left the company but still work with WildAid to be the product manager of the web and mobile apps. I was with the project since the beginning.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codemotion, and what were your goals?
We hired Codemotion to finish all the critical and high-priority tasks for the open source Android, iOS and Web applications that had begun in 2020.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We tried going with the vendor we had used at the company that started the project, but this project was too small for that vendor. They recommended another company which wasn't a good fit, and eventually I found Codemotion.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
- Back-end development using Node.js;
- Database structure design and implementation using MongoDB;
- Authentication using MongoDB Realm (formerly Stitch)
- Client UI/Front-end development using React; We had an existing design that was user tested, and we hired CodeMotion to:
- Be able to add and edit records in the web UI
- Update the software with security patches
- Add filtering to the on-site search functionality (Atlas Search)
- Get photos to show up - Interact with data in the database to show the correct fields in the correct areas For iOS and Android, we hired developers to:
- Use polygons with geolocation data
- Go through and fix crash reports
- Get the apps ready for production in the Google Play and Apple App Stores
- Get rid of overlapping elements
- Turn off autocorrect for input fields (we are dealing with a lot of proper nouns and names)
- Prefill data on forms
- Add warnings
- bugfixes
- Allow the user to remove a field in the app
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We hired 1 each: Web Developer, iOS developer, Android developer
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We got our mobile apps 100%
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
I managed the communication among the three developers - there wasn't a ton of overlap and the functionality was all worked on in parallel.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was impressed with the ability to get good consultants with the needed skills. We did have to wait a few weeks to get all our needs met, but we did find our developers after that point.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
They were great!

Web Dev for AI Software Company
“Codemotion has provided us with exactly the person that we need.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am an engineering manager for an AI software company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codemotion?
We needed to hire a frontend developer that had some background in data science because math and statistics are involved in the project we are working on.
We are a small startup company, and most of our funding comes from science-related grants. We’ve hired other companies in the past from the US that were too expensive, and we needed a cheaper alternative. We wanted to find the best person for the job, and we originally hired someone else, but we weren’t happy with the quality of work they were producing.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The developer from Codemotion works exclusively in a frontend development role. He is working to solve issues with the software and improve stability.
The tech stack is React, and the frontend is built using TypeScript.
What is the team composition?
We work with one developer. Codemotion has provided us with a project manager, but we take care of most of the project management on our end.
How did you come to work with Codemotion?
We use Upwork for hiring, and we’ve previously hired independent consultants. We decided to go with Codemotion because they reassured us that if we didn’t like the developer, we could work with someone else. They have lots of developers, so it seemed like a risk-free option which was very attractive to our company.
How much have you invested with them?
We have invested around $40,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2022, and it is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our goal is for the people that we hire to be independent so that we don’t have to go back and fix mistakes. Our developer from Codemotion is very independent, and we can hand over a list of tasks, and know he will be able to complete them.
The developer has a Ph.D. and is very meticulous in all of the work. He’s been fixing the mistakes that were made by our previous developer and completely refactored and improved the stability of our system. We were having issues with pages breaking, and he is going in and fixing all of that.
How did Codemotion perform from a project management standpoint?
The developer works just like a member of our team. He is responsive and always meets deadlines.
We use Slack to communicate, and videoconference every two weeks.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codemotion has provided us with exactly the person that we need. They originally gave us a few candidates to pick from, and he had the experience that we were looking for. The Ph.D. is so valuable to us, and the individual that they are providing us with is excellent.
Codemotion is very professional. They check in with us every month, but they are very respectful of our space which we appreciate. We have hired other people that didn’t provide high-quality service like they do, so we’ve been very impressed so far.
We know that anyone from Codemotion will have a certain level of competence. When we work with them we know that we don’t have to waste time trying to weed through people who cannot complete a job.
The developer that we work with from Codemotion is incredibly hard-working, and will do whatever needs to be done to meet a deadline.
For how much it costs, the service is very good.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We can’t really say anything bad about them.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the president of a developer tool company revolutionizing how software is created and managed. We are building a tool that enables developers to easily navigate their distributed cloud architecture as well as to create a new, production-ready service with push-button ease.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codemotion, and what were your goals?
We were seeking to hire a back-end engineer facile with technologies used in our stack. This would be a permanent member of our core engineering team.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We reviewed nearly 600 candidates from across the world before settling on an extraordinarily talented engineer through CodeMotion. Our CodeMotion colleague passed an extremely rigorous coding challenge that few others succeeded with in spite of their impressive resumes, and he aced multiple rounds of interviews.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We were seeking to add a full-time, permanent member of our team proficient with NodeJS and Typescript. Our colleague spends his days knee deep in Node, working to expand our APIs using TypeScript/JS as well as working on our core platform. Other technologies used include nest.js, a graph database and noSQL back-end, REST APIs and graphql.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Just 1, our account manager. She was awesome, quickly understanding our requirements and only socializing a handful of resumes that met our requirements. She made it easy for us to find our ace.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We could not be more thrilled with the colleague we hired via CodeMotion. His work product, work ethic, and collegiality have made him an invaluable member of our core engineering team. Our team is extremely discerning; their praise must truly be earned, and this colleague earned it with distinction.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
2 week sprint cycles, daily virtual standup, Slack-based comms as needed, JIRA for specs and backlog management, and weekly 1:1s. We generally operate asynchronously outside of structured recurring meetings.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Strong candidate quality, and the firm is easy to work with.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Not a thing :)

“Codemotion’s technical experience is better than anyone I’ve worked with before.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO for a company that creates enterprise-level websites and apps for higher education institutions in the US.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codemotion?
We needed to meet a quick turnaround time for developing first a mobile app and then a web app. Given that, we needed professional UI/UX designs and clean animation, but we didn’t have the in-house talent for such tasks. We also didn’t have the time to hire someone for them. As a result, we engaged Codemotion to help us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve designed the apps, and Codemotion has worked on the frontend. We’ve used React Native for the development of the mobile app and React for the development of the web app. The Codemotion team also uses a combination of JavaScript and TypeScript for the entire project.
What is the team composition?
We’ve been working with two developers and a business liaisons officer, who is helping us navigate the engagement.
Originally, we acquired one full-time developer from the Codemotion team. After a while, we realized that the project wasn’t a one-person job, so we acquired another developer.
How did you come to work with Codemotion?
I found Codemotion on UpWork, and a couple of things about them spoke to me: their professionalism and their portfolio. On top of that, they had the ability to listen to our needs; they said that if their work wasn’t up to our expectations, we could contact them and their CTO would review their work. If resources were misused or their outputs weren’t production-ready, they’d help us get back on track. Overall, their business practice was professional, and everything was upfront and well-mapped-out. As a result, we hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between $45,000–$50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in June 2021, and the engagement is ongoing. The second developer came on board in mid-July 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
One success metric we’ve had is the fact that we’ve been able to hire a second developer from Codemotion. Moreover, our timelines have been unrealistic since this project has been extensive. However, Codemotion has managed to deliver the project within such a timeline. Their ability to build the MVP in a span of months is outstanding, considering that their resources are working with us as a new members. On top of that, the time between finding the right developer for the job and bringing them on the project has been well-managed.
Further, the Codemotion team is user-focused. They can implement great designs to the tee and come up with their own great ideas. Their standout idea is the usage of skeleton loading, which is used by Twitter and other professional web apps. For context, skeleton loading is when websites and apps load cards first before the actual card information shows up.
How did Codemotion perform from a project management standpoint?
The resources have both been fantastic. We’ve had excellent communications, and they have accountability. Moreover, we work with them as partners; we share the workload, so we don’t simply give them tasks. In fact, they can call us and assign tasks to us, too.
Overall, they’ve been nothing but efficient and fantastic. They communicate deadlines well, and they tell us what they can and cannot do. When problems arise, they alert me ahead of time. To communicate, we use Slack. I have a call with them every weekday morning. We also use Zoom for video communication and Jira for tickets during the agile development process.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codemotion’s technical experience is better than anyone I’ve worked with before. More importantly, they run their business incredibly well — they have fantastic internal processes. They meet our needs as a client, and we can easily ask them for more resources if we need to do more work. The team also helps us come up with a better partnership structure when we don’t have the right budget for the work. Overall, I see them as a great long-term partner; I’d recommend them highly to others.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There could have been a playbook for the onboarding process. Since we’d never hired an outsourced developer before, it would’ve been nice to have a little heads up in terms of setting up expectations and communication with resources.
However, this is a minor point. Doing such preparation is incumbent upon me as the one hiring and onboarding new developers. In any case, their work has been stellar.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Constant communication with Codemotion’s people is as important as constant communication with their developers. Use them to come up with ideas on how to move resources around. Overall, develop a relationship with the company as a whole and not just with their developers.

I'm co-founder and CEO at SourceMates IT service company. We help to contribute with optimisation of business processes involving web development, mobile applications, CRM, Crypto.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codemotion, and what were your goals?
We worked with another agency for a couple of years and everything was fine, but then one developer left the project and then another developer left the project. I felt like nobody paid attention to my project because it is not large enough for them. I understand that we are a start-up and it seems like that other company are more focused on large enterprise projects. With Codemotion I see that no matter what size you are - you will be taken care of.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
A friend of mine recommended Codemotion to me and after initial conversation, I already knew that they were the right choice to help me out with the project.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The main technology they used was React and Node.js. We provided their team with specifications and the design for them to build our app. Codemotion managed the development and coordinated with us on the process, incorporating our feedback into each step. Throughout the entire project, they also made key suggestions which we implemented and successfully use now.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A project manager, 2 backend devs and 2 frontend devs.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Codemotion mostly uses an Agile methodology with a Scrum framework to manage the project which I really like. Also, every project manager they provide speaks very good in English. This helps establish great communication and ensures that all parties understand their assignments.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Codemotion is a real people company and I extremely like their personal approach to every business partner they work with.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, I am happy with how they are.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the CEO of a fintech company. We're a payment gateway for purchasing cryptocurrency using credit cards.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codemotion?
We needed to develop our web application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codemotion built our app solution on CloudShare using NodeJS. We initially conducted a thorough business analysis and proceeded with creating screens and integrations, along with our security providers. During the business analysis phase, we tasked them with creating wireframes but had to come up with another plan to ensure the success of our product. Their team also headed our CI/CD setup and monitored the platform as we needed it to always be up and running due to the influx of client requests we receive.
What is the team composition?
I worked with ten people from Codemotion including a project manager, front- and backend developers, a QA resource, and a business analyst. I was also in touch with their project management lead, business relationship manager, and CTO.
How did you come to work with Codemotion?
Codemotion was recommended to me by a friend who had a satisfactory engagement with them in the past. I was convinced that they could bring in the same great results for my business, so I onboarded their team.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around €40,000–€55,000 (approximately $47,000–$65,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The project ran from April–July 2021. We just received the invoice yesterday, which marked the completion of the project.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Codemotion built us a platform that works like a charm — they developed it expertly, removing any bugs that could potentially affect our UX. Additionally, they performed all tasks while sticking to the budget that we provided, which was an important factor for us.
How did Codemotion perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated via Slack and Telegram and relied on Jira and Confluence for project management. Codemotion had commendable project management skills — they were keen on updating us and communicating each phase of the project to our team.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codemotion possessed an impressive balance between great communication and efficient delivery.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We were satisfied with their services, so there were no such areas to point out.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I was an operations manager at VisitHealth.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codemotion?
We hired Codemotion to develop and establish a platform for an external customer.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They established the team and arranged the scope of the project in the first week, and they started development after that. Codemotion built a platform that could handle our online bookings and internal processes. On top of that, they developed advanced features we could use in the future.
Codemotion also helped us with security. We had a denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on the site after we launched it, and the team assigned a person that helped us investigate and avoid a similar attack in the future.
What is the team composition?
We started with a seven-person team, including a project manager.
How did you come to work with Codemotion?
We found them through someone in our company. We indicated what we were looking for, and Codemotion provided us an offer with a few options for how they could support us. We compared them with other providers and found that they were the best in terms of value for money.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent above $350,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with Codemotion between January 2020–March 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We received Codemotion’s first deliverable in two months. They were a good company, and they helped us secure our site. Whenever we needed anything related to software development, they were capable of handling it.
Our company had grown almost four times since we launched the software they developed. The platform would definitely payout in the next two years or even sooner.
How did Codemotion perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project manager was one of the best people I worked with. I learned quite a lot from Codemotion in terms of managing a project. They tailored their approach to the client and didn’t try to squeeze us into a framework. Moreover, they were flexible in adjusting the team as needed.
We appreciated that whenever they took the information from us, they also asked questions. That helped us establish a good communication relationship. They also created our project documentation. Furthermore, they were quite fast in answering any requests we had even if it was on a weekend or holiday. That helped us implement fixes or provide critical improvements to help our patients since we were a healthcare company.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codemotion had experience in a wide range of industries, and all their team members were very strong. We tried hiring internally, but finding people with qualifications similar to what Codemotion had provided for us was almost impossible.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could be cheaper, but they provided good value for our money. Codemotion was good, and I’d happy to recommend them to anyone.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
I recommend working with a project manager and a business analyst. That way, they can help summarize the scope and refine small details of your project, which will speed up the development process.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a team manager of one of the development teams at MID GmbH. The company offers consulting and software tools for modeling business processes, designing software architectures and creating database structures.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codemotion, and what were your goals?
For one of our cloud products, we needed temporarily an additional developer to realize several web-frontend components in Angular. This also included transferring components from AngularJS to Angular.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We got in contact with Codemotion on Upwork. The project experience of the developer and his skills met our requirements. At first, we got in contact with one of their solution managers. With her we discussed our needs and the scope of the project. Since this made a very professional impression to us, we decided to go for Codemotion.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We did a kick-off meeting to discuss goals and the technical basis of the project. After that, we provided access to our system (e.g., to a git repository), sent some code snippets and mock data. Of course, the developer needed some help from us, but he got acquainted with our technologies and project structure very quickly. He delivered several frontend components written in Angular including unit tests. On these deliverables we do weekly code review sessions to identify bugs and to decide if some more work needs to be done.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We hired one frontend web developer.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The project is still ongoing, so we do not have any final outcomes yet. The UI components delivered so far fully meet our expectations. Their quality is good, and we were able to successfully integrate them in our product. Some minor bugs occurred, but the developer quickly fixed them.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
One of our software engineers communicates with the hired developer regularly to clarify questions. We usually track the progress once a week and do planning meetings when a UI component is almost done. During these meetings, we present UI designs for the next component to develop, discuss requirements and create user stories for the developer. For communication, we are using MS Teams and TFS.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Although, we hired only one developer, there is also a solution manager who makes the first contact. Beyond that, there is a happiness manager taking care of customer needs and communicating feedback from the developer to the customer concerning the overall collaboration, how the development process is going etc. They create a friendly, flexible, and professional atmosphere.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We have nothing to complain about so far.
While the project is still developing, the team has excellently coordinated daily tasks. They arrange calls to discuss all issues and follow agile methodology to complete the client's requests. Above all, they're a one-stop shop for all development needs.
