the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of Nuvurb.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codegate?
We needed Codegate to help us as we built and designed an app. I tried another app development company, but that company didn’t work well.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codegate has provided everything we need from UI/UX design to coding. They’ve also advised us on the backend’s implementation and what I need to buy for it. They’ve broken everything down into milestones for us to learn how things should work. We’ve also given them some wireframes and general guidelines on documentation.
Moreover, the app has comprehensive features. Event-based locations and messaging features have been a big part of it. The app is for both Android and iOS.
So far, we’re still working with them. Their main task is done, but I’m using them for updates. That service isn’t included in their original bid, so it’s technically a new project on the same app they’ve built.
What is the team composition?
We mainly work with two people, including a UI/UX designer.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $25,000–$50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’d probably never gotten off the ground without Codegate. They’ve provided a comprehensive plan of how to execute the project, and their services are highly affordable.
The app is a user-heavy app, and we’re saving some money to start advertising. In other words, the app isn’t truly functioning yet, but Codegate continues to support our needs.
How did Codegate perform from a project management standpoint?
Codegate’s project management is almost perfect. To communicate, we typically use text messages and phone calls.
Moreover, they’ve charged us a small fee during the onboarding process, but their payment structure has been more user-friendly. Other development companies want payment upfront, while Codegate breaks things down into milestones, making the engagement more affordable.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their onboarding process is painless as they get up to speed on the project. Moreover, other companies don’t do things that are outside of the scope of work. With Codegate, they fix things right away when they or I miss anything. Whenever we need to add something to the app, they simply do it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I wish there was a little bit more communication between steps. To be fair, Codegate has done more than any other company would do for the project. I’m also not the best client — I like to micromanage — so this is on me as well.
Apart from that, they can also try to create a comprehensive list of all the passwords, user logins, and other information on the website.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be open, honest, and realistic about what you want to get, and you won’t be disappointed.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Owner and Founder of a social app.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codegate, and what were your goals?
We wanted to develop a mobile app that allowed users to grow their real-life social network. Our main focus was to make it accessible by anyone.
How did you select Codegate and what were the deciding factors?
Online research led us to identify Codegate as the talent that we needed to build this project. The decision was based on their previous projects, experience, and additional department offerings like design.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had preliminary meetings to discuss the scope of work before breaking ground. We provided technical write-ups and wireframes. The Codegate team delivered monthly iterations of the project on-time, per our agreement. Codegate implemented a variety of technologies like chats, code scanning, and sorting algorithms for our project.
How many resources from the Codegate team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I primarily interacted with 2 lead developers in building the project's visual aspects. An additional 2 developers worked behind the scenes on internal systems and external administrative panels for me, the owner, to use in monitoring the project's functions.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The Codegate team developed the app's complete functionality and we've just launched. We have a defined road ahead of us and are working to acquire users with our polished, read-for-market product.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
The lead developer was easy to contact, as we had a direct, open line of communication on Slack throughout the duration of the project. We had online video meetings whenever necessary and have even exchanged contacts on additional platforms like Telegram for emergencies. I received status updates on a regular basis, which was great for peace of mind and kept me in the loop about our progress.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their response time and consistency are the most impressive about this organization. Any matter that I brought to attention was almost immediately responded to during their regular working hours. Likewise, their delivery of highly polished work was consistently delivered on-time throughout the entire 14-month long duration of the project.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Misunderstandings were kept to a minimum.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO and I make the big business decisions with help from my businesses partner.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codegate?
We were trying to overcome the challenge of giving Businesses and their products a cheaper and more authentic way to promote their product or company through an app. Businesses do not have authentic ways to promote their products, they use actors and biased copy in order to show off their product in the best way. Also, promoting their business can be expensive and hard to understand on the technical side. In regards to consumers, they don't have the right tools to capture and archive their experiences to share with the world. The opportunity we see this product working on in the beginning is for family owned restaurants that may not have the capital for marketing but give customers great food and experiences. Needed this developed on iOS.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to make an app that is well preforming and fluid. To have a great UI and UX to build off of. We are still in the development stage of the project. We hope that we are able to get more funding for the further development of the app.
How did you select Codegate?
We talked with multiple different vendors and asked about their business models. We loved what CodeGate offered and felt they believed in what we were doing with our business. Me and my business partner believed CodeGate was the best for our business after talking with our different advisors.
Describe the project in detail.
Our app was focused on taking a picture and reviewing the experience with it. Location, scale review, post onto Instagram, archive snd saved photos. We contributed wireframes and some guidelines. Our developers were responsible for creating detailed wireframes and the creation of the app. iOS is the platform it's on now. No website at the moment.
What was the team composition?
Backend Developer Frontend Web Developer JavaScript Developer Co-Founder – CEO Co-Founder – CMO No.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I can't at the moment, again, we are in the beginning stages but feel hopeful for whats to come. Covid has slowed things down a bit.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Codegate preformed well. They were available when we needed them and understood what we needed for the app. Trello was used for the work flow and we communicated through slack so nothing was overlooked. CodeGate was great with feedback! They also gave us a lot of different things to think about and we agreed on a lot of different features that needed to be add and taken away. No.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
CodeGate was impressive in how they were able to look at our problems and find quick and easy solutions for them. They are proactive in thinking about solutions before our meetings which made those times quick and effective for progress to be made immediately.
Are there any areas for improvement?
The development of the app is on going, but for now there are no improvements to be made.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Digi Doorbell. We’ve developed a security app that allows users to print out scannable QR codes.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codegate?
I’d tried a few vendors, and none of them delivered. I was getting discouraged when I finally heard about Codegate.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codegate is responsible for building out my mobile app from scratch. The team first had to create a format for the app without functionality, then add the functionality into it. They’ve introduced video technology and other features, and we’re still adding some more.
The team also got my website up and running.
What is the team composition?
Chris (Technical Manager) is my main contact. I communicate with him directly because he really understands my vision.
How did you come to work with Codegate?
I came across them online. I had a gut feeling that Codegate would be able to handle my project, and so far they have.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $53,000–$56,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together since April 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Codegate is very consistent —they’ve kept their word. They solve any problems quickly and are always upfront about when they need to do some more research to figure out solutions. They finish tasks when they say they will.
How did Codegate perform from a project management standpoint?
Their communication is really good. The team meets all their deadlines, and a lot of times manages to finish their work early.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Codegate has vision. They really understand how to take my ideas and put it into practice with the app. The quality is excellent.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing that stands out. They’re really knowledgeable and they get the details.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you have your details in order and that everything is clear.

Mobile App Project for Startup Company
"Codegate has proved to be everything we wanted. "

The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder of a new application which is mostly app-based. We are an app that is changing the way in which people send and receive greetings cards.
For what projects/services did your company hire Codegate?
We used Codegate to develop the first version of our app that we will take forward to our investors. The challenge here is that we were doing something that has never been done before, but Codegate found an innovative way to help us towards our solution and created a stunning app that has brought our idea to life.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to get the make the main features of our app functional so that we could discover our 'Wow' moment. The main goal was to ensure that this app could deliver on the innovative solution we have discovered and could do so while being easy to use and nice to look at.
How did you select this vendor?
We wanted to select a vendor that we thought had good credentials, a strong team, good communication skills, and who really understood our product so they could work with us to improve it. Codegate has proved to be everything we wanted. We considered a list of different companies and spoke to each of them over a video call before making our final decision.
Describe the project in detail.
Once we had selected Codegate to carry out this project for us, we had a meeting to discuss what the next steps would be and how we could approach this project together to ensure that we left no stone unturned and it ticked all the boxes we needed to.
They informed us of what they thought the best steps to take were, depending on our goals, and provided various solutions. They were responsible for designing the app and building the initial version which we could take forward to investors.
Throughout the project, I had direct contact with them to ensure that any questions they had could be answered quickly, and vice versa. They developed this app on IOS, but can also develop on Android too.
What was the team composition?
Although we had one main point of contact, there was a team that was taking care of different tasks. Appreciated the one point of contact as he really got to understand the application which made things a lot easier.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
As it is quite soon after the delivery of the project we do not have any metrics we can report back on. But the initial feedback of the those who have used the app has been very good.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The communication was impecable between myself and Codegate, any problem that arised on either side was solved almost instantly. We had a direct line of contact, communicating via message and facetimes/video calls.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I was very impressed about many things, their technical knowledge and ability to communicate this, their desire to go over and above to make sure they are delivering a top tier product, their communication skills. Any other work I have in the future I will definitely go back to them. Also, the speed of their work was very impressive.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I do not have any areas I could suggest for improvement at this moment.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the technical delivery manager for a tech and data solutions business.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codegate?
We needed help with the frontend development of a mobile app for our client.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Codegate remotely integrated into our team, working collaboratively with us on the project. They participate in sprint planning and do the frontend development of our client’s mobile application. Their team is building the platform in React Native, as a first-launch or an initial version. They work closely with us, our delivery lead, and our backend team to create the product.
What is the team composition?
There are two people working with us.
How did you come to work with Codegate?
They previously worked as a subcontractor for one of our contractors. We switched over to working with them directly based on the standard of their work and the trial project they did for us.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested just under $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with them around February 2019, and the engagement is ongoing. The project is currently on hold due to COVID-19.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The UI quality is of a high standard, and the team did a good job implementing a well-structured code base, appropriately designed for the current business requirement. What's more, the client has given positive feedback. They’re pleased with the product presented to them.
It’s only a first version, but it’s smart-looking and unique in its aesthetic. Codegate did a high-quality reproduction of the envisioned design, representing the designs in a pixel-perfect way.
How did Codegate perform from a project management standpoint?
Codegate has been very good at project management. They’re highly responsive, work quickly, and are very knowledgeable in mobile frontend development. We use Trello, Togo, and Slack for communication and collaboration.

They’re very service-oriented, willing to please the client, and happily work on any task presented to them. Codegate has been a very supportive partner in this project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could more readily leverage the benefits of continuous integration tools.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They like to work fast, so you need to be able to keep up with them. Be highly interactive with open communication to help the project run optimally.

Mobile App, Web & VR Dev for Digital First Aid Course
"They really know their work and what is state-of-the-art."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder and CEO of a digital first aid course.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codegate?
We felt we should make the course more modern. We specifically wanted an app with some VR so that people can experience an accident and experience what they need to do in first aid. We needed someone to build our app as well as a web tool.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We hired Codegate to create the app and the web tool. When we started, I really liked that they knew how to do this because it was quite new to have an app with VR. It also needed to work on each device because students needed to use their own devices, which was the tricky part. They suggested we do it with React Native, and it was easy for them.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two people.
How did you come to work with Codegate?
We found them through Google. We couldn’t hire someone from Switzerland as prices are very high, and we are just a small startup with little funding. We wanted to go outside of the country but not too far away. That’s how we found Codegate.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent roughly $75,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in August 2019 and finished in April 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We started using it at the beginning of March before it was finished. It started pretty well, and we received great feedback, but two weeks after the launch, there was a lockdown because of the coronavirus outbreak. All first aid courses were suspended, and we had to cancel all of it. We are now slowly starting to open things again.
How did Codegate perform from a project management standpoint?
It was very easy to work with them. English was no problem, and they had a good understanding. They were also very good at meeting deadlines. Any delays were only by a day. I just had the two contact points, so I didn’t have to talk to each developer.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They really know their work and what is state-of-the-art; that was really impressive. I would also say that they went the extra mile and included a bit more.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It got a bit more expensive, but that was because I added stuff. If you ask me right now, I can’t think of anything. Communication was good, they delivered even more than we asked for, and the price was fair. I was really happy with it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Try to include them in your idea at the very beginning so they can help you with the technology. They really know their work, and they probably know your product better than you do. I would include them sooner.

Web Dev Outsourcing for IT Solutions Company
“The applications they’ve delivered are running at light-speed.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the CEO of J&B Enterprises. We’re a small private-equity company based in Belgium that provides IT solutions directly to customers.
What challenge were you trying to address with Codegate?
We were looking for a web development partner.
What was the scope of their involvement?
One of our recent projects was to create an automotive solution. They delivered the entire platform from scratch, including the back office and web eCommerce components. They’ve also provided SAP advisory and have managed other business processes like product distribution. We’re in constant cooperation with them as they provide all the technical support we need.
What is the team composition?
In our most recent project, there were three people involved. Their team included a graphic designer and a database manager.
How did you come to work with Codegate?
I found them through a google search. They offered the most competitive price for the type of work I was looking for. Codegate is a Polish team, which also made them appealing to me since I'm Polish myself.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve spent approximately $66,000 thus far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in 2016, and it’s an ongoing engagement.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had a chart to assess the solution they recently delivered, and 90% of the feedback we’ve gotten has been extremely positive. The applications they’ve delivered are running at light-speed. Most importantly, they delivered the solution on time, and any delays were due to our own setbacks.
They provided excellent guidance about what kinds of technologies we should be utilizing. We really appreciated that input, since it's allowed us to scale our business.
How did Codegate perform from a project management standpoint?
They stuck by all deadlines and were flexible enough to accommodate sudden scope changes. They were happy to incorporate unexpected ideas and functionalities which weren't outlined in their contract. I really appreciated that.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their precision is stellar.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We experienced some minor issues, which is normal in any development project. They’re quick to resolve any problems that come up. Relative to other companies, their response rate is great, so I don’t really have any complaints.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They don’t limit themselves to an IT perspective when solving problems. They understand business and can identify operational challenges. They offer invaluable advice that’s worth paying for.
The company is happy with Codegate’s services. They make themselves affordable by breaking the engagement down into milestones. The team also communicates well through text messages and phone calls. The team is also willing to take on tasks that aren’t in their original scope of work.
