Mobile App Design & Dev for Stock Investment Platform
“Our goals are aligned; they want to see the app succeed and grow the user base.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of Stock Timing Tech, a mobile app that helps people know when to buy or sell stock in the stock market.
What challenge were you trying to address with CodeGeeks Solutions?
We’re a startup, and we hired them to develop the first version of our mobile app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
CodeGeeks Solutions provides us with mobile app development. Initially, they scoped out our MVP, and we went to work with their designers. We had a beta version of the app that was very rudimentary and had a hand-drawn wireframe. Although we showed them the beta version and pictures of the wireframe, they created the app from scratch for iOS and Android.
The team has designed our mobile app’s frontend and developed its backend architecture. They’ve helped set up the app’s deployment and payment. Once the app goes live, CodeGeeks Solutions will help us optimize it.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with around six teammates from CodeGeeks Solutions, including designers, backend developers, and a project manager.
How did you come to work with CodeGeeks Solutions?
We found a company that helped us find a development provider. They presented 4–5 different options, and we interviewed all of them. We chose CodeGeeks Solutions because they did the most thorough job trying to understand our project; they asked great questions and gave us as accurate a scope as possible.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $40,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began discussions with them in April 2022, started working together in June 2022, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
My partner and I have been testing the app and validating that the features are accurate, and everything has been good so far. We’ll launch the app this week.
Since CodeGeeks Solutions is using a large set of data, and we didn’t want to purchase many tools during the development process, the app has had crashes. However, these bugs are to be expected, and CodeGeeks Solutions has resolved the issues.
How did CodeGeeks Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management system has been good. They have a ticketing system in Jira where they manage their agile project development, including sprints and a backlog.
As for communication, we have a web conference once a week. Initially, we met more than once a week, but as development progressed, we reduced the cadence. We also use Slack constantly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
This is our first time building a mobile app, so we don’t have much experience with other providers outside the interview process. What we liked about CodeGeeks Solutions during that process was that they had different skill sets across their team. They have front- and backend developers, architecture engineers, and project managers in one team, so we don’t have to source any roles, making things easy for us.
The CodeGeeks Solutions team has been great to work with. When we’ve had issues or challenges, they’ve been reasonable and fair and have invested in our company. Therefore, our goals are aligned; they want to see the app succeed and grow the user base. We appreciate how much they believe in the product.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re still refining their process, so we’ve had a bit of scope creep due to inefficiencies early on in the process. However, they’ve worked through those issues and improved them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I advise being really clear about your requirements from the beginning and having them fully documented. Additionally, you should be able to communicate those requirements effectively to the CodeGeeks Solutions team.

I am Brad Brotherson, President of Applied Knowledge Solutions. We create custom software applications to address the most complex business issues. When off-the-shelf products are either insufficient or do not yet exist, our personalized software consulting services can provide the perfect solution.
We contract with CodeGeeks to handle all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle from High-Level Design to Low-Level Design/Coding to testing, deployment, and operations & maintenance. Our goal is to work with a single vendor who can provide all aspects of the SDLC.
We have worked with the founders of CodeGeeks for many years. Their professionalism, attention to details, and elegant solutions have made them our exclusive vendor.
CodeGeeks have designed and developed several projects for our clients using many technologies including .Net, Angular, SQL Server, React Native, Bootstrap, Amazon Web Services, and Azure. Most recently they are working on a construction estimating and business management solution. They follow an Agile SDLC of Planning, Requirements, Design, Build, Document, Test, Deploy, Maintain.
We work with many team members at CodeGeeks with projects typically requiring about 6 to 8 team members. CodeGeeks supplies all necessary resources including business analysists, project managers, designers, developers, qa, testers, and support staff.
By replacing Excel spreadsheets with enterprise software, business rules can be easily applied and updated. This has resulted in higher margins and fewer errors. An innovative field application using Ipads has just been deployed that integrates with the client's accounting software creating faster billings and better cash flow.
Their project management is excellent. The project managers are highly skilled with great technological expertise but also easy to talk to (i.e. regular guys). Sprints and timesheets are managed in Jira (a client requirement), and communications are through Slack.
The breadth and depth of knowledge along with the application of that knowledge and the teamwork at CodeGeeks Solutions is very impressive. Everyone from the BA to QA was up to speed about the project details and I never felt as though I was repeating the same information to multiple teams.

Our ongoing partnership started in February 2022.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would suggest being very clear with what you want so the team can deliver excellent solutions for your organization.

API Development for Data Company
"They are a very organized team and use all the typical tools people usually see."

Please describe your company and your position there.
AType Data is a data aggregation, list building, and data brokering company. I am the Head of Product.
For what projects/services did your company hire CodeGeeks Solutions, and what were your goals?
We hired CodeGeeks to build the second version of our product from the ground up. They created everything from scratch. The biggest challenge was building a data aggregation framework that could accept any type of source (list upload, api, updating SFTP) and allow for custom data mapping, pricing, querying and more. Some of the data sources include millions of records, so we needed to create a system that could handle that amount of input.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We were referred to Code Geeks from a trusted source. We interviewed them, really appreciated their communication styles, and loved how quickly they could turn around a working prototype.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We started the project with an initial proof of concept using an API based data source and some rough wireframes. The team completed that in a timely manner and we committed to the project from there. We typically aim for weekly sprints with new features and functionality to smoothen out the flow and add more scenarios. We eventually added more types of data sources (SFTP syncs and manual uploads). We also integrated Stripe for processing payments and purchasing credits within the system. It is built on React and Node.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We've engaged with 8 people from the Code Geeks team. CEO, CTO, senior engineer, mid-level engineer, senior QA, mid-level QA, program manager, and senior UX Designer.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Since this was a brand new product for us, I really appreciated their communication style, their willingness to go with the flow, and the whole team's ability to move forward without all the proper documentation and designs. We kept throwing a bunch of different, new use cases and data sources at the team and they found smart ways to integrate them into our system.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They are a very organized team and use all the typical tools people usually see. They operate using the Atlasssian stack and communicate within Slack, email, and on team meetings. They are strong communicators and give us daily updates on progress. They do a good job of reminding us when we are roadblocks for work when they need help, feedback, etc. Everything has been done in a timely manner.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I've worked with many development teams, both overseas and stateside, and I'm incredibly impressed with the CodeGeeks team. They're everything you want for with a development partner. They've built a team of A+ talent.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Any issue I've had (and they've all been small), they've done a great job of communicating and making changes to mitigate them. They're very flexible to making everything work to a clients' particular needs.
The client is happy with CodeGeeks Solutions’ work, which they’ve tested and validated with good results. The team communicates effectively through weekly meetings and organizes their agile process well through tickets on Jira. Their team’s fairness and wide variety of skill sets stand out.
