CRM Web Application: Construction Industry Image

CRM Web Application: Construction Industry

Problem:

Having a large sales force and having to handle a large volume of construction jobs of different types the company needed to track/calculate:

  • if the customer has paid for the job in full or not

  • figure out how much to pay the crew and the material vendor

  • based on these and numerous other factors the commission for each salesman on each job needs to be

calculated.

NVR had used a custom built desktop software developed in Microsoft Access 2003 to calculate the profitability of every job and salesmen’s commission but the software became obsolete and very unreliable.

Solution:

CodeBright has built a custom web based software application (accessible from any device connected to the internet) that helps NVR to:

  • Manage each job from the beginning to the end.

  • Input all the job details of every job for the system to track.

  • Once the job has been marked as completed- the system calculates the profit and loss on every job and calculates commission for the salesman.

Results:

The web application helped to make the complicated debt collection process a lot easier and clearer. Now everyone on the team knows the status of each case and what the next steps are. The paperwork is now also a breeze: instead of printing out numerous forms and filling them out by hand- the web app prints the form from a template and fills in all the necessary fields from the case file. Due to increased productivity- the agency is on track to double the volume within a year of launching the web application.

Debt Collection Management Web Application Image

Debt Collection Management Web Application

Intro:

RWK is a seasoned debt collection agency/law office based in the Bronx, NY specializing in tenant-landlord debt collections as well as other debt collection cases. The firm was founded in 1970.

Problem:

Since the firm was founded in the 70s- a lot of the business processes have stayed the same as they were back then. Here are some of the problem areas:

- Paperwork: Debt collection process is

quite complex and multifaceted that involves A LOT of paperwork, legal notices, subpoenas, court filing and court proceeding documents etc and RWK team has been doing ALL THIS by hand! Hundreds upon hundreds of papers every week- all filled out/written/printed manually! Needless to say, this has stifled the growth of the firm. Plus all this paperwork required a significant amount of physical storage.

- Case Management & Workflow:  With 20-30 debt collection case open all at the same time- it was hard to tell what status the case A, B or C was at, what legal notice has been filed, has to be filed or even how much money was collected from case X, Y or Z.

Solution:

CodeBright has built a web-based software application (accessible from any device connected to the internet) that helps to:

  • Manage the collection process from the beginning to the end

  • Each collection case is broken down into milestones/stages and everyone in the team now knows

    • Where each case is at

    • The debt details

    • What’s the next step that a particular team member needs to take in order to move the case forward (the app guides the team through the entire collection process step by step).

    • Anyone can see the background/history of each case.

  • Digitized records- a significant reduction in paper volume.  All necessary documents are backed up in the cloud.

  • Automated document generation using mail-merge

"Uber For Your Luggage"- iOS, Android and Web App delivery apps Image

"Uber For Your Luggage"- iOS, Android and Web App delivery apps

Similarly to Uber and Airbnb- MyBagCheck, Inc creates a market place by connecting customers (who need temporary luggage storage) with drivers (who are looking for additional income).

If you’ve been to a big city like NYC, Chicago, LA or SF with luggage for business or pleasure- you know it can be a problem. You might be booked for a conference with your flight leaving in the evening or trying to go back to the Statue of

Liberty and now you have to worry about the hotel check out and your luggage…

My Bag Check is the ONLY on-demand baggage pickup and delivery service in New York. It doesn’t matter if one is a tourist or a local, long gone are the days of trekking through the city with both hands filled. Users use the mobile app to summon a driver to pick bags up and set a delivery time/location to have them dropped off at a later time (the luggage is stored in a secure location in the heart of the Big Apple). My Bag Check allows users to enjoy the wonders of New York City without having to lug around those bags.

Problem

My Bag Check founder was trying to validate this concept without spending a fortune on development and having to have to wait many months to see the first version of the product.

Solution

CodeBright has built an MVP (Minimal Viable Product) with just the core features in a relatively short time and on budget and in just 2 months the services started to accept its first orders proving the validity of the product and the demand for it in the market.

Results

My Bag Check is steadily gaining market share by marketing to directly to consumers as well as B2B- forging strategic partnerships for cross-promotion and referrals.

In February 2018 the startup was featured in TechCrunch and overnight the user base grew more than 10 fold overnight!

The product is being developed/improved/expanded organically (thanks to the feedback of actual users). In addition to the mobile app- CodeBright has also developed a web application and now My Bag Check customers can create orders on both mobile and web.

HandyMan: Connecting Homeowners with Contractors Image

HandyMan: Connecting Homeowners with Contractors

Intro:

HandyMan iOS app is the “Uber for home improvement services”. The mobile app follows an Uber’s/Airbnb’s business model creating a home improvement market place by connecting customers (in need of home improvement services) with HandyMen (experienced tradesmen looking for additional business). HandyMan app creates a smooth experience for both parties, moderates/facilitates the process from the beginning to the

end.

If Mr. Homeowner needs a plumber to fix a leaky faucet or handyman to paint walls- opens the HandyMan app, describe the project, reviews up to 5 quotes from HandyMen and hires the most suitable one for the job. Once the project is completed- the homeowner.

Problem:

HandyMan founder had a vision for a tech product that would connect service providers with customers creating value for everyone involved and like many startups- HomeAnswers, Inc faced a lot of challenges (technical and otherwise), had budget and time constraints.

HandyMan founder raised an initial round of funding to launch a product on a limited budget and in a short period of time in an attempt to validate the concept and determine whether or not there is a need for this type of product in the market.

Solution:

Since the founder didn’t have much experience launching tech products into the market- CodeBright team provided a wholistic approach and advised/supported the founder in many different aspects from naming the product (it was a team effort to come up with the name HandyMan®) to creating the entire graphic design artwork (incl. logos, UI/UX, wireframes etc), to doing the actual software development (front-end and back-end), QA and the launch into the App Store.

Due to the limited budget and time- we have used MVP (Minimal Viable Product) methodology include only the core features/functions in the initial versions to deliver the initial version of the product to the market in the shortest possible time and budget. Read more about MVP.

Results:

The HandyMan app was developed and launched into the App Store on time, on budget and with the agreed-upon set features. HomeAnswers, Inc founder was able to give a functional initial version of the product in the hands of the actual users/ investors/partners/potential acquirers to get their feedback/input and further recommendations/suggestions on how to make the product a success.

Update: Despite the initial success of the product- the startup failed to take the product past the beta version, was unsuccessful at user acquisition and thus never reached the critical mass of users necessary for sustainable growth of the product. The app is currently dormant.

Connecting Property Managers with Contractors Image

Connecting Property Managers with Contractors

Intro:

NVR- an established commercial home improvement/maintenance company based in the Washington, D.C. area has hired CodeBright to develop “Property Management Simplified- a custom mobile iOS app.

Since 90% of the NVR’s business came from the existing clients- the primary purpose of the app was to further promote customer loyalty. Customers are now able to schedule service right from their mobile apps and earn

reward points for every service call- giving them an incentive to stay loyal to NVR and less price sensitive.

Problem:

NVR team prides itself for providing the highest quality commercial building maintenance to their loyal customers (commercial building owners) all around the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Although the customer satisfaction has always been higher than average industry standard- with the high quality standards come higher than average prices(you get what you pay for) and NVR sought for additional ways to promote customer loyalty to help ease the question of the higher rates.

Solution:

CodeBright team proposed to build a custom mobile app specifically for existing customers of NVR that would 1) make the process of requesting a service call with NVR as easy as requesting an Uber and 2) allow the customers to accumulate bonus points for each service request- similar to the miles/points credit card companies offer (the more you spend- the higher the more reward points you earn).

The app also helped customers to:

  • Schedule appointments, get reminders and project status updates (i.e. Appointment Scheduled, Project Started, Project Completed).

  • Catalog/archive all the service calls with all the necessary information about each service call for reporting (tax and other) as well as future maintenance.

  • In case of multi-unit residential real estate properties (apartments)- residents gained the ability to request service calls themselves (with the property manager’s approval).

Results:

With the brand-new mobile app developed specifically for the existing customers- NVR was able to gain a high initial customer participation in the app and a favorable feedback from the customers.

In the first 8 weeks after the launch of the mobile app- the new service call request process had increased the volume of service requests by almost 1/3, the order size has increased by 20% in that time and the company received a positive response from the property managers who already started seeing the time savings afforded by using the app (namely the property managers who managed maintenance services for a large number of residents).

Discoverlist: Social Travel App for NYC Startup Image

Discoverlist: Social Travel App for NYC Startup

Intro:

Discoverlist is an iOS mobile app that allows users to easily share travel recommendations and photos with friends. Users can quickly plan trips, explore trendy hot spots around the world, or build a travel profile to showcase all of their adventures.

Problem:

The founders envisioned their product and approached CodeBright with branding (complete with logos & color schemes), wireframes, and user

experience /user interface designs in hand.

Their vision described a product rich with features, integrations, and nuances, yet were operating with a limited budget and tight timeline.

Solution:

CodeBright developed the entire iOS application (back-end and front-end) from the ground up in a single iteration in addition to creation of the administrative dashboard.

CodeBright also facilitated two rounds of beta testing for users to test the app, share critical feedback and offer suggestions.

Results:

Discoverlist iOS app has gone through multiple rounds of Quality Assurance tests which led to higher reliability and user satisfaction.

The goal was to validate a business idea on a limited budget and timeframe. This goal was achieved and the Discoverlist iOS app officially launched.

Overall the app received positive feedback from users.

Genealogy Research Web Appliction Image

Genealogy Research Web Appliction

Intro:

Full Genomes (Full Genomes Inc, FGC) a genetic genealogy company based in Rockville, Maryland that makes next generation sequencing technology available to the general public focusing on the Y chromosome. FGC works with universities, law enforecement and other government agencies to conduct research and perform DNA tests on murder victims across the country to help solve criminal cases that were unresolved for

decades prior. FGC also helps consumers perform genealogical research, genealogical health predespositions etc.

Problem:

Each DNA test result performed by Full Genomes usually contains large amounts of raw data with hundreds and even thousands different data points. In order turn this massive amounts of raw data into meaningful information- the genealogy and data scientists at FGC had to manually analyze a significant portion of the data. This made the product labor intensive (and thus expensive) and not scalable.

Solution:

CodeBright has developed a solution that processed the raw data from the DNA test results and visualized it in a user friendly easy to understand form (even to a regular consumer). The solution has allowed to streamline and further automate the DNA test result analysis and presentation.

The team successfully launched the solution ahead of schedule. It was enjoyable to work with CodeBright; they're a highly accessible team with a well-structured collaboration style. Their depth of expertise allowed them to walk the client through the process, maintaining a proactive approach.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a sole proprietorship LLC, and I’m the only member and CEO of the organization. I had an idea to create an application that I felt was lacking in the market.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CodeBright?

I was looking for a company to help me with the development of the app based on my concept.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I wrote up requirements for the system’s logic and design. They gave feedback on those requirements based on their experience and knowledge. So, in addition to development, they provided expertise and a second opinion.

What is the team composition?

I mostly communicated with one person who was a project manager.

How did you come to work with CodeBright?

I really wanted a company I could trust with the development as this was my first application, and I wanted someone with knowledge of the industry.

I ended up going with CodeBright because I was able to meet with the CEO face-to-face. They gave a brief background of their services and other companies they’d worked with.

I thought they were the entire package, including their knowledge of advertisements, marketing, and how to launch the app within the iOS and Google Play Store.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested about $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We signed the contract in December of 2019, and they began work in January of 2020. We wrapped up the initial project in April of 2020, but we’re still communicating about future app enhancements and maintenance.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They flawlessly executed an app that’s free for download, subscription-based, and allows in-app purchases. The initial app has launched to the iOS and Android app stores, and it’s been functioning properly.

It’s targeting a Hispanic demographic, and a lot of my users are in Latin America. They were able to create different price points based on the user location, which has been very helpful.

They were able to release a couple of weeks ahead of time, which has helped me substantially. That timing was beneficial as people are home without things to do during these times, and the app is a game for game nights.

How did CodeBright perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, they were great. They were easy to talk to. They have a business process in place that allows for collaboration and questions. They answer questions immediately and make themselves available to their clients.

Since I had an outside designer, they needed to communicate a lot about updates and version controls with documents, designs, and content. They were able to manage that properly because their availability was so excellent. The project manager made himself accountable and did a great job of relaying my feedback or questions to the group.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re well-prepared. They had a proactive approach where they would let me know what was needed for the next phase of the project. That was helpful because it kept me accountable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At the beginning of the process, I submitted a draft of what I wanted. I was hoping it would be a placeholder for when I had the final versions of designs and content. There was one instance where they did a full release of an older version that I had submitted. I would have appreciated it if they would have said, “Hey, is this really what you want? We’re going to implement all of the designs, and this is what it will look like.”

This was just a minor miscommunication, and they were able to rectify it the next day. It didn’t halt the project or add to the labor costs or anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It depends on the person and the company. But, I would say to be sure about what you want. Make sure you have well thought out plans, but at the same time be able to adjust your requirements.

Also, if you’re a beginner, don’t be afraid if you don’t have technical knowledge. CodeBright will be great at walking you through the process. They taught me how it was going to work, what would be expected of me, and what they would be able to provide.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the COO of a fashion company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with CodeBright?

We initially contacted Code Bright to help us produce a social media application for the iOS App Store.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our app is a social media photo-sharing platform, and the goal is to enable users to tag and interact with different clothing items in each photo. Any tagged item of clothing will provide details like size relative to the size of the person as well as purchasing options.

They built the application from the ground up based on project requirements that we provided, and we launched on the App Store but are currently working to extend it to the Google Play Store as well.

What is the team composition?

I spoke mainly with two people from their team, Alexander (Frontend Developer, CodeBright) and Andrey (CEO, CodeBright).

How did you come to work with CodeBright?

I found them online through a Google search for companies local to the Washington, D.C. area. They had great reviews, and after talking with them on the phone I was impressed with their knowledge and ability to explain various technical aspects, so we decided to engage with them.

How much have you invested with them?

I would say we’ve spent between $30,000–$40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in December 2018 and launched the first version of our app in August 2019 but are continuing to work together.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

As far as numbers, we don’t have a lot of information so far, but the users we’ve talked to really like the interface and the usability. All of the functions seem to be working well so far, and feedback has been really positive, so we are very satisfied with the quality of CodeBright’s work.

How did CodeBright perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is definitely one of their team’s strong suits, especially in the developmental phase. Once you’ve finished scoping and are putting things together, making everything functional, they do a great job with keeping you in the loop on what they’re currently testing.

If there are any issues, they get back to you very quickly and will do phone or video conferences readily depending on what is most convenient for you. It really makes for a very easy, seamless, and frustration-free process.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think at a certain price point, everyone can code and create your product, so standing out really comes down to your personal touch and your ability to work with someone. In this particular experience, everything went so smoothly and was so enjoyable — whether it was ideation, scoping, or testing — that I can only credit it to their amazing customer service. You feel like you’re their only customer.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really, I don’t have a lot to compare them to, but I also don’t have anything in particular that I would complain about.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be too rigid. It’s safe to be open in the brainstorming stage with them because they have a lot that they can bring to the table. Starting your cooperation with them early on will help you get the most out of the project in the long run.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the founder of an HR and recruiting consultancy.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire CodeBright?

We hired them for bot creation, training, big data (machine learning, deep learning), and some IoT work.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to save on long-term costs by automating tedious business processes.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I had worked with them previously and reached out to them when I started this business. I knew they were sharp!

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

This was a sizeable project! The virtual assistant they built receives a job description, visits multiple job listing sites, scans resumes, and reaches out to the most fitting candidates through email, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Then it holds pre-screening interviews with potential candidates by asking questions we write.

It can hold a few thousand conversations at the same time, which is mind-boggling! After interviewing everyone, the bot gives us its Top 5, Top 10, and Top 20 lists. Once we select the interview candidates, it contacts them for the next round of interviews.

What was the team composition?

I mostly worked with the project manager, so I'm not certain of the team composition.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The system automated over 80% of our recruitment processes.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We used Jira as a project management tool, which worked well!

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the founder and CEO of My Bag Check, Inc. We’re a technology company that provides on-demand luggage pickup, storage, and delivery.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire CodeBright?

I was looking for someone to develop a market-ready version of my platform quickly.

What were your goals for this project?

I was trying to validate my startup idea and see whether there was a need for it in the market. I also wanted to build a profitable company and dominate a particular market segment.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I considered a few other software development companies, but I selected CodeBright because my point of contact saw my vision. The cost was another big factor.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

CodeBright took my vision and completed all necessary requirement gathering, including wireframe and prototype generation, and produced a mobile app, a web app, and an admin panel. They created a UX/UI design and handled front- and backend development, quality assurance, and publishing the app to the App Store.

What was the team composition?

I only ever worked with a single project manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Soon after the initial version of the app launched and apparent bugs were resolved, revenue started to come in. We were featured in TechCrunch after a few months of steady revenue growth, and saw a tenfold increase in users, seemingly overnight. Now, my user base continues to grow and we’ve formed strategic partnerships that will help us become a leader in our segment of the transportation industry.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I always knew what was going on, milestones were completed on time, and if anything came up, the team addressed it in a timely manner. If something didn’t go according to plan, that was to communicated to me on Trello, which proved to be highly effective. I only communicate with a single project manager, who takes care of everything.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their team made my success a priority. They were available to resolve issues quickly, even after production finished, and avoid outages.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

There is almost always an appropriate level of communication, but it’s something they should continue to work on.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the CEO and a co-founder of Discoverlist, an IT startup based in New York City. Our current product is an awesome mobile app that allows users to share travel tips with friends.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire CodeBright?

We wanted to launch our startup at a reasonable price and timeframe and turn our dream into reality.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We had some phone calls and then met once. We knew that CodeBright was the company that would help us bring our idea to life and make it successful.

Describe the project in detail.

We had designs and wireframes before we approached CodeBright. They took that and turned our vision into reality by developing a mobile app from scratch, which includes an admin dashboard. Their work included backend and frontend development, server and admin console setup, app publishing, and more. They also provided a QA period, which we really appreciated. Furthermore, they helped us do two rounds of beta testing before we launched to the App Store. It was not a small project!

What was the team composition?

We always had a direct point of contact. Besides the project manager, there were two developers assigned to both the frontend and backend, plus the QA specialist.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our main goal for this stage has been achieved. We now have a real product that our clients can use, and they love it!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had a single point of contact—our project manager— and we communicated mostly via email or text. Trello is a game changer for tracking progress, opening new tickets for bug fix requests, etc.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The discovery process before we started the actual development was extremely helpful, especially since this was our first software development project and we had a lot of questions. The project manager guided us through the process, taking the time to understand exactly what we were building and giving us valuable suggestions. We also appreciated that even though we had many roadblocks during the process, their team pulled through and kept their promises to us. They are hard workers with an impressive work ethic.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Completing the work before the deadline is something CodeBright should continue to work on.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the general manager of a debt collection firm based in NYC.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire CodeBright?

We hired CodeBright to design a custom web-based software.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted our process to become more effective/efficient, reduce costs and manual work, and increase volume and profitability.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We talked with a few vendors before hiring CodeBright. The representative from CodeBright actually came to our office in NYC and spent the time to learn exactly what we needed. They made great suggestions, and we were confident that they could deliver.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

They conducted an extensive discovery phase to understand our requirements before starting the actual development. Their team developed blueprint/scope of work documents, flowcharts, and wireframes. After we approved of their plans, they designed, developed, ensured quality assurance, and helped launch the software. Currently, they oversee any post-production errors and maintenance.

What was the team composition?

Their project manager is my single point of contact. I know they have 4–5 developers working on our project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We've been using the web app for our practice for over six months now. It has helped to make the complicated debt collection process a lot easier. Now, everyone on the team stays updated the status of each case and what the next steps are. The app also makes paperwork a breeze. Instead of printing out numerous forms and filling them out by hand, the app prints the form from a template and fills in all the necessary fields required by the case file. Due to the increased productivity/efficiency/automation, we can position ourselves to significantly increase the volume of cases we can work on—expanding the business. We're extremely happy with their work thus far.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We use Trello to track progress and report bugs/corrections. We communicate a lot with their project manager via instant chat, phone calls, and Zoom screen sharing meetings. They always keep us in the loop to what's going on. They deliver what they promise—always on time and within our budget.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team's ability to quickly learn our business/industry impresses us. After a few weeks, they had a pretty decent understanding of how the debt collection process works. They were almost able to speak our language. The team always recommend great suggestions and come up with different ways to improve/automate/simplify the complex debt collection process using technology.
