FreshDirect Customer self-service enablement
Increase customer satisfaction and help the customer service team of one of the leading US online grocer by preventing customers from needing to reach out for support when dealing with order complaints.
For handling grocery order complaints FreshDirect relied on its customer service team. Most of their customer base was satisfied with and requested store credit in exchange for the hiccups they experienced with their orders. Opening a customer self-service credit option was the next step in keeping customers happy.
We had to integrate the new self-service option into the existing CRM with new customer service flows. Join the back-office infrastructure with the customer-facing store, ensure communication and apply necessary rules. Providing an automated solution we had to introduce fraud detection and escalation of fraudulent cases to customer service.

CASP-Smart control solution and real-time data visualization for existing geothermal heat probe systems with the help of machine learning and IoT
Everywhere around us, a multitude of smart and connected devices are taking care of energy, resource and comfort monitoring, and optimization. In comparison, the backbone of green energy solutions which are often hidden from our eyes are built on principles from the ‘50s. As a joint effort of multiple companies, we decided to change the status quo and further optimize the most efficient green energy solution in heating and cooling.
We decided to make closed-loop geothermal heat probe systems 25% more efficient, lower their maintenance needs and let everyone see what is going on underground with the help of data visualization.
The feedback from industry leaders in the green energy sector was extremely positive. We have installed our prototypes at a factory and an office building to further optimize

Parker- Help Budapest Inner City to ease traffic congestion and it’s residents by taking the guesswork out of parking.
Mainly in city centers, a significant part of the traffic is of cars looking for a parking space, so a parking optimization solution can significantly improve the efficiency of the entire transport system.
As part of a pilot in Inner City, Budapest 1500 NB-IoT Parking sensors are sensing the free/busy status of parking lots in real-time and transferring the data to parking management applications. A complex smart parking solution needs a customer-facing mobile application that lets residents access all the relevant information.
The mobile application was built with Expo which let us create a truly native app for Android and iOS from one codebase. With this, we were able to control costs and cut back on development time. In the application, we introduced a feedback form, which allows customers to provide useful insights, which will help to fine-tune the application for future expansion. With the same focus, the app has extensive and GDPR compliant analytics integrated.
After the successful pilot, the businesses involved in the complex smart parking solution are focusing on expanding the service to additional cities. code and soda still cooperate as a consulting partner with business analysis, development services, and support.

Paralell Archive
Parallel Archive is an online archive of scholarly, historical and research documents powered by the contributing researcher community.
The project aims to provide an interface for users to digitize physical documents. Parallel Archive also hosts and makes these documents publicly available. In our days, the historical imprint of a document is only as credible as its source is traceable. We had to come up with a solution that shows, while anything can happen to data on the internet - we'll know about it every step of the way.

Cinepster
An animated art presentation app unique in both visuals and technologies used
The team at Cinepster envisioned a platform where users can freely create online presentations using full motion art templates. They worked together with established Hungarian artists to create animated art in their own style. Vanishing Presence- A VR experience by Implausible Works
Vanishing Presence is an immersive location-based experience which seeks the solution for how the memories and the past can interact with each other by harmonizing the reality with the virtual.
The growing weight and the presence of a motionless body leaves a dominant memory trace, which, as the time passes by, starts to get worn out and becomes a connectionless piece of memory. On the other hand, the moving body doesn’t leave those impactful traces, but its kinetic energy can manipulate the memory. As the dimensions of space and time and the material interfere with each other, the virtual reality and the real presence cannot exist without the attributes of time and materiality’s passing by.

FoodKick- a mobile-first food business that serves the Big Apple’s notoriously hard-to-please Millennial residents.
FreshDirect decided to launch a sister business and build a unique and custom shopping experience from the ground up that connects consumers to the freshest, tastiest finds in food, drinks, and lifestyle essentials, all delivered within an hour. Foodkick launched in Brooklyn and Queens with Android and iOS apps and FreshDirect knew that to expand to Manhattan they need to establish a web presence.
We helped in the planning and execution of a component-based design approach with FreshDirect’s UX and design team. Based on this work with respect for the in-house technology stack we built a custom e-commerce site with AngularJS. We wrote a lot of detailed automated tests to make sure all the components work properly and securely.
After the successful launch, FreshDirect is focusing on expanding the service to additional cities.

Pixibeauty-A community website for beauty product lovers providing personalized recommendations
A Hungarian beauty brand approached us to develop a community platform to expand its customer base and provide new types of services to its business partners and customers.
Let beauty product lovers simply answer a few questions and the site would provide them with a selection of personalized product suggestions. With having a partnership with some of the best beauty retailers and brands the customers would also be able to browse through a vast collection of products and get real-time prices. Business partners would be able to launch product testing campaigns and customers would provide real-life reviews and feedback.
code and soda’s team was involved in PixiBeauty at all stages of its development. The team built a custom CMS with Java and Spring to serve multiple business scenarios: inventory management, cost information updates, the introduction of various retail partners and brands, campaign management.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I work as a IT business analyst for an online e-grocer.
For what projects/services did your company hire code and soda?
We have worked with c&s on several projects, but the one I'm highlighting here involves extending the ability to our customers to allow them to credit themselves for orders / products.
What were your goals for this project?
Primarily to make sure that all of the logical use cases for this flow were covered, while maintaining usability for customers and easy tracking / management internally.
How did you select this vendor?
We have worked with C&S for a long time. Their ability to onboard to new applications / features quickly made them an ideal candidate for this specific project, as it was newly defined logic.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
For this project, after discussing the initial process for crediting - which was not a customer facing tool - C&S did a deep dive to understand the ins and outs of it, in order to make sure there were no gaps when extending it to customers. They were able to design a project plan based on the project requirements, and we'd have scheduled reviews of progress and issues from testing. Their team was also available to discuss new requests / testing issues ad hoc as they arose.
What was the team composition?
There was a project manager and two primary devs, one essentially for frontend and one for backend.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
The main tracker for success was to see the amount of credits created internally go down while the matched (or exceeded) by the creation of credits by customers. This criteria was met, and has also given us further insight to the crediting process to streamline both the frontend and backend behaviors.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The request was broken down into sprints that focused on different aspects of the project, and then regular meetings were had to review progress and bugs. Communication was very open and the project proceeded almost exactly as planned, given extensions when extra requirements were added to the original scope.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The complexity of the request was easily understood and quickly broken down into tasks by C&S, but I think the thing I was most impressed by was their ability to easily accommodate request changes as they came along, while clearly communicating how that could affect timelines.
Are there any areas for improvement?
As I have worked with C&S before, I think our rapport was such that I felt like we had an ideal work relationship for this project.
code and soda met the criteria and gave the client insight to the crediting process. Their communication was very open and gave the client insight. The team proved to easily understand the request and explained proper timelines.
