I work as Digital Marketing Manager for a corporate veterinary group that acquire practices across the UK. We need to build effective direct-to-consumer websites for clients of veterinary practices.

To build both the Best Friends Group and Woodcroft Group websites. These are two veterinary groups that we have acquired and they have multiple practice locations. Code Plus Marketing Ltd's brief was to take designs from a 3rd party and develop into .net websites using Umbraco.

What were your goals for this project?

To deliver well-built robust websites that will be future-proofed for many years.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We had been searching for a while, in the UK and Europe to find the right partner, and had reviewed a number of options. At one point, we were looking at hiring temporary developers to form part of the digital team, but struggled to find the right fit. Code Plus had a great attitude with excellent recommendation and previously-delivered projects that had been finished to a high-standard. we contracted them first for the Best Friends project but they impressed so much, we gave them Woodcroft without hesitation.

They developed two websites to our specific designs under challenging circumstances. They also supported when mid-project changes were made by other areas of the business, (despite project sign-off prior to development) - reacting positively and offering support. Best Friends website had a content hub to support our SEO endeavours and Code Plus assisted in developing this in an effective way.

What was the team composition?

We had a project manager with a supporting team member who were our main points of contact. Code Plus have a number of highly-skilled developers who delivered the work who were also part of the wider project team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Both websites launched recently, so it is hard to say the long-term impact yet, however, the immediate impacts are websites that are easier and more intuitive for the Marketing team to edit and maintain, and great feedback from the respective practice groups who have received modern fresh websites. We're already seeing improved analytical insights.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Code Plus fully understood the need to deliver Woodcroft by a tight deadline, and were very supportive despite the delays from our side with Best Friends. We used Slack and Google Hangouts for meetings, alongside traditional emails for certain aspects. They managed the projects really effectively. I felt as though our expectations were managed well throughout. The time difference between the UK and Bulgaria was not really noticed - Code Plus worked really hard to accommodate us and work around the time difference. Their language skills are excellent so I never felt communication was an issue.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Woodcroft had a tight deadline for delivery due to a hospital opening. Best Friends was delayed due to a number of internal factors and Code Plus were excellent in both situations to ensure delivery was achieved. Their month warranty is impressive.  They stand by the quality of their work and support their clients after delivery. I would highly recommend Code Plus.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I honestly cannot criticise Code Plus. I have enjoyed working with them on these projects.

We scheduled several in-person meetings with the Code Plus team to conceptualize our idea and discuss the scope of the project. After some analysis, they created a timeline for the project that outlined various sprints for each task, including the integration of a payment provider API to calculate and process monthly payments and operational documents.

They built the solution on an ASP.NET framework with an AngularJS frontend. Following internal testing, we made the necessary bug fixes and shared the system with our clients. Code Plus continues to support the project, make necessary adjustments, and develop new features upon request.

We worked with one project manager, two developers, and a QA specialist. They added a team of testers to assist with beta testing.
