We needed product architects and full-stack development to produce our first minimum viable product.

How did you select Codalyze Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and what were the deciding factors?

Reached out to Codalyze via their founder (and CEO) on Upwork. Their comprehensive and detailed proposal to our scope of work was the reason why we decided to proceed with them.

Codalyze was responsible for implementing full-stack features, deployments, and collaborating with our team members to plan each sprint. They were also working across the entire system architecture and was responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining restful APIs, micro-services, and databases.

The web platform was build using React.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Socket.io, Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and Amazon SES.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with four members and the head of the company up until the commencement of the project; then one team lead (backend) who had one front end engineer and one QA/QC engineer working with him.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Codalyze met all our project requirements set for our minimum viable product, deploying two instances (staging and production) of the platform.

Agile project management and product development. We held daily stand-up calls, mainly used Slack to communicate, and managed all sprint issues on Jira.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team lead was proactive and always suggested ways to improve the performance of the platform.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

More guidance and enforcement of best practices on front end development.

I’m a product manager for an innovation consultancy firm. We provide innovation services and workshops for various enterprise companies.

What challenge were you trying to address with Codalyze Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?

We needed frontend developers for a web app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We already had a firm working on the backend, so we hired Codalyze to do the frontend. They used AngularJS to build the app, which is a training app for users to learn different skills. For example, they can choose how to assess new ideas, run hackathons, etc. The app takes them through a roadmap with tips, videos, and steps on how to do the innovation process.

We finished the first version in about five months and then had a few customers test it out. We received feedback, and Codalyze went back to make improvements. It was an iterative process.

We worked with the head of the company, and he had a team under him.

The previous product manager found them on Upwork.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $52,800.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January 2016–April 2018. We began using React for the frontend, so we had to find a new firm.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They met all the goals we set. One of our clients worked closely with this product, and they were satisfied with the work.

How did Codalyze Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Jira and Confluence to submit tickets, and Codalyze would solve them. We mainly communicated via Slack, which was smooth and easy. We had a rough time meeting a few expectations, but the partnership was, overall, satisfactory. They promptly returned messages and stuck to our schedule.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Codalyze was just as good as the company who did the app’s backend. They have good work ethic, open communication, and consistent delivery.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would’ve been nice if they were more proactive in suggesting ways to improve the app. They’re the tech experts, so their insight would’ve been appreciated.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Work with their CEO, if possible.
