Deployment scenario (Code Move Strategy)

Salesforce code moves from sandbox to production. Code Move Strategy:

Step 1: Check the existing production code coverage by “Run All Test”.

Step 2: Lookout for test class failures if any.

Step 3: List out the Batch jobs running in production.

Step 4: Compare the code between production and Sandbox before working on it. If any differences found report it to your end Client/Manager.

Step

5: Make sure if you are deploying an apex code its code coverage should be above 85%.

Step 6: Use Changeset for small size deployment with fewer components. Keep the change set names in a well-defined order.

Step 7: Use Eclipse or Ant Migration tool for deployment with many components. If you have the privilege of Full copy sandbox use it for trial deployment and go live. Full copy Sandbox gives you an advantage of less risk more effort based deployment process.

Step 8: Deactivate the necessary batch jobs and Validation Rules before deployment.

Step 9: Make sure the deployment is in the right time slot when end users are not working or keep the team informed for any surprises that may come while deployment or after that.

Step 10: Validate and Deploy. Reactivate Jobs, VRs, etc.

Step 11: If possible test the deployment in production or ask the respective feature manager to test it in production and report feedback.

We hired Cloud Analogy in order to assist with custom development for partners who required specific workflows, customizations, and processes that are more complex than our out of the box software.

To help our customers who required more personalized and in-depth management system workflows, customer portals, and other things that would set their system apart from an out of the box solution.

How did you select this vendor?

The decision to select Cloud Analogy was made prior to my time at the company and was made by our higher level executives.

We provide requirement documentation, typically at a higher level, and then supplement the original requirements as needed, focusing on smaller details and specific items that need to be developed. We required not only development within Salesforce, but also the ability to work smoothly with other third-party apps installed in customer organizations.

What was the team composition?

The size of the team changed per project, but typically there is one project expert who would disseminate work and tickets out to a smaller team with knowledge of that specific project. The size of the team would grow if our workload required it.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

I was involved later and don't have specifics around metrics, but the importance of Cloud Analogy's work could not be overstated.

The effectiveness and quick turnaround time has definitely helped us reach project timelines and because of the nature of software development, helps us be dynamic in assisting urgent needs that come up quickly from our customers.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was generally done with a Team Lead who would break down the work and assign it out. The Team Lead would be responsible for high level knowledge of the project, but the team members would develop and work on the individual tickets.

JIRA was used primarily for communication, but a daily meeting was held on GoToMeeting which was supplemented with Slack conversations if needed as well.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The ability to tackle any issue we brought up and either resolve it immediately, or if it was more complex or and unrealistic ask, they'd be able to get creative and come up with ideas for solutions or other ways to solve the requirement. They are dynamic, knowledgable, and accommodating to anything we could throw at them.

Are there any areas for improvement?

At times, communication through just JIRA could lead to breaks in understanding, but it was quickly resolved if it ever came up.

They helped building the orphan sponsorship database, donation system and donor management.

We can now send orphan progress report documents through Salesforce, save them or print. We can now send the orphan profile and manage the orphan sponsorship. We can now receive online donations or process offline donations as well.

I’m a marketing manager at Eton Property. We’re a residential apartment development group that specializes in sales and marketing, and we have 12 employees at the moment.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cloud Analogy?

We brought on the team for Salesforce support because we wanted to formulate a less hands-on process. We asked Cloud Analogy to set up Salesforce within Propertybase so that we could extract more than twelve columns of information about a particular apartment (e.g. size, corporate size). 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They set up two different forms of Salesforce for us, one version for retail sales and one version for channel sales. They’ve also automated our Salesforce processes. For example, they automated the previously manual process of opting someone out from MailChimp and Propertybase. Now, when someone unsubscribes from MailChimp, they are unsubscribed from Propertybase as well.

What is the team composition?

Nitesh (CIO, Cloud Analogy) was my main point of contact.  Nitesh and Prashant (Salesforce Developer, Cloud Analogy) both worked on Salesforce tasks while one other specialist worked on MailChimp.

I found them on Upwork, and I saw that they had good reviews and good past experience.  

How much have you invested with them? 

We’ve invested less than $10,000 with the team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began and completed the MailChimp integration project in 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s been working perfectly—it’s something I couldn’t have set up myself. Their work has streamlined our processes. We’re able to focus on the tasks we need to do without worrying about administrative processes. Within the market in Melbourne, we’re leading in automation. Many people have been looking at us to learn how we automated our processes.
 
How did Cloud Analogy perform from a project management standpoint?

Typically, we interact through Zoom meetings. It hasn’t been a time-consuming process. It’s been efficient despite the time difference. They work while we’re asleep, and when we wake up more work has been completed.

They were very familiar with what was required, and they were able to do it with ease. They nailed exactly what we wanted every time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They just get it. They’re accommodating with my schedule, and they’re very responsive to emails. If I tell them I can’t have a phone catch up, they’ll say, “That’s fine,” and send me a video I can watch and respond to instead. Also, I didn’t understand coding and integration, but they helped me through the process. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I was happy with the partnership.

If clients can give a really good brief, the vendor's output is going to be strong.

I'm the marketing director for a hair product brand.

What challenge were you trying to address with Cloud Analogy?

We created a wholesale buyer's club and needed a CRM system to allow a hired sales team to manage leads, so we reached out to Cloud Analogy to build the infrastructure on a Zoho platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Cloud Analogy built a CRM system on Zoho, integrating the different platforms we use to host our website and track current members, Airtable and Landing Lion. They ensured that when Airtable was integrated, it was done so in a way that would allow us to make the distinction between current members and new ones. They also integrated Zoho SalesIQ onto our landing page, which allows us to contact leads directly in real time. 

What is the team composition? 

We worked directly with Ajay (Co-Founder & President, Cloud Analogy) as well as another main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Cloud Analogy? 

We found them on Upwork and gravitated towards them because they had positive reviews and competitive prices. We originally contracted them to use Salesforce but decided it was too expensive and wanted to use Zoho instead. Since they also have expertise with Zoho, we were able to continue working with them at an affordable rate. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $1,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between March–April 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The new technologies they've implemented have significantly improved internal processes and sales conversion rates.

How did Cloud Analogy perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very timely, responsive, and proactive about providing feedback to help us optimize the platform. They took the time to walk us through the system to ensure we understood how to use it going forward. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They consistently paid a lot of attention to detail and ensured they were turning around tasks in a timely manner. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't have anything they could improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to provide them with as much detail as possible and keep all lines of communication open, so they're able to get necessary materials in order to complete the project in a timely manner.

The timing was short and the work was done on schedule. Priorities were set autonomously by Cloud Analogy. Impact was positive, management and users are impressed.

Very effective. Cloud Analogy did a great job in setting a detailed project plan. Which was important to keep the project on track.

What were your goals for this project?

Wanted to reduce the amount of hours our coaches were working by making everything more technologically based. We also need a platform to hold all of our information in, and SF Cloud Analogy helped us achieve our goals.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We found them using online resources.

Describe the project in detail.

They migrated our data to the cloud to reduce the amount of time our coaches spent running reports and doing administrative work.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are now able to run reports, and our time for our coaching staff has decreased for 30min to 60min which gives us more time to focus on coaching. We have much less admin work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It has been great. Suraj and Rupali are really amazing to work with and they've very on the ball.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They're very quick to response with a yes or no and if the work is doable. They also will send you an estimated time for the work to be done, and they're very knowledgable in everything Salesforce related. They've saved me hundreds of hours of work at a fraction of the cost of local vendors.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None at all. Everything has been great.

I was in direct contact with developer on a near daily basis, which i found very helpful, previously i would go through through a project manager / intermediary which I now dont think is required'. It was effective because things i asked to be done got done very quickly and i could see results.

Easy to deal with! They always responded quickly to emails and completed tasks quickly.
