The University Neighbourhoods Association is a non-profit organization that provides municipal-like services to the residents who live at the University of British Columbia.
For what projects/services did your company hire Clear HR Consulting Inc.?
We hired Clear HR to perform a review of our salary band structure, as well as to review and revamp the job descriptions for all the employees in our organization.
What were your goals for this engagement?
We wanted to engage a firm that was knowledgeable and well-versed in all facets of Human Resources.
How did you select Clear HR Consulting Inc.?
We have done a number of projects with Clear HR over the years, and always found them to be knowledgeable, well-priced and prompt. Choosing them to do this project was an easy decision.
Describe the engagement in detail.
They reviewed all current job descriptions, revamped with staff input, and provided updated job descriptions. For the salary band work - they reviewed the job descriptions against benchmarked positions in salary surveys, recommended a revamped structure and salary range.
What was the team composition?
Our principle point of contact was Cissy Pau.
Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?
The updated job descriptions were easy to read, put into a proper template format, and up-to-date. The salary band structure was designed to evolve with our growing organization, and was well researched and presented.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Our teams were able to work together well. The project ran over multiple years due to internal changes at our organization - but at all times Clear HR were professional, understanding and easy to work with.
What did you find most impressive about this vendor?
I've always been impressed by the in depth knowledge and professionalism shown by Clear HR. This project was no different.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I started the company in 2002, and we’ve been in the home organization and move management business ever since. We provide complete door-to-door services, helping homeowners clear contents from their homes in preparation for a sale or a move. One of our main demographics is senior citizens.
Our company does full packing and unpacking, coordination, and on-site services. We aid customers in downsizing, arranging workflow productivity systems in offices, and managing emails, information, and resources.
What challenge were you trying to address with Clear HR Consulting Inc.?
We don’t have an in-house HR department so we hired Clear HR to assist us with managing employees, adding team members to our growing company, conducting research, and creating documentation.
What was the scope of their involvement?
With COVID-19, all work arrangements are remote but Clear HR is available to meet us in person. We’re working on an employee handbook using the team’s previously created templates. They also advise us when it comes to interview questions and guidelines as well as with structuring employee-related letters and documentation.
What is the team composition?
We’re working with Andreas (Director of Operations) and Cissy (Principal Consultant).
How did you come to work with Clear HR Consulting Inc.?
I got to know Clear HR through various business and networking events. I really liked their wealth of knowledge and how approachable they were during our conversations, so it was only natural that I contacted them when I was in need of assistance.
How much have you invested with them?
Our previous project was around $500–$1,000, and the retainer is $500 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing engagement started in September 2020. We used to work on an as-needed basis, but when our needs started to increase, we decided to have Clear HR on retainer.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Clear HR’s customizable templates save us thousands of dollars and hours of work. It is an invaluable part of their service, and we’re amazingly successful in that regard. We don’t have to research and create the documentation from scratch.
How did Clear HR Consulting Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team doesn’t just send documentation and leave us to it. They were constantly checking in to see how things were going, especially when we fell behind. We would have conversations regarding staffing issues and they would consistently follow up to see how that talk went. They’re also able to meet with us in person or work remotely, which we found seamless either way.
What did you find most impressive about them?
There is never a scenario that they don’t know how to address or don’t have input on. Clear HR always has the answers so I was never kept waiting. Having their expertise in my back pocket is a timesaver. It’s comforting to know that they’re on our team because they’re very thorough, dotting their i’s and crossing their t’s.
It gives us peace of mind having Clear HR available regardless of the situation. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to hire them. They are worth the dollars spent because now I get to concentrate more on the core of what I do.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s none. I’ve never felt that there was anything lacking; every need I had has been filled.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you do not have the competency when it comes to anything HR-related — whether that’s staffing, personnel management, documentation, policies, procedures, or handbooks — you can pass it on to the experts and talk to Clear HR.
The job descriptions that the Clear HR Consulting team wrote were much easier to read. They also did their research on the company's band structure, allowing the updated version to grow with the company as they expand. The company is quite impressed with the team's knowledge and professionalism.
