The scope of services included functional, automation, regression, performance testing & UAT services.

Cigniti’s key differentiator was their sole focus on independent quality engineering services. We selected Cigniti based on their technical capabilities, especially test automation services.

Their team was responsible for owning all the testing services, included but not limited to automating test cases for functional scenarios for web and mobile apps, performance testing, user acceptance testing and continuous testing.

The team size varied but we had approximately 10 – 12 Automation testers and 2 performance testing engineers as part of the core team.

Some of the outcomes are provided below:

• Reviewed existing testing processes, methodologies, application architecture and the release planned
• Tailored existing QA and testing processes assets to establish a centralised QA function
• Set-up test lab (secured access compliant with ISO 27001 and GDPR regulations) with high-end devices and configurations
• Worked in collaboration with our development and IT teams, and integrated testing with agile development model
• Built a robust and scalable test automation framework integrating with the CI/CD pipeline
• Achieved 95% automation for web and mobile devices
• Leveraged mobile labs and cloud device farms to execute compatibility tests

The team collaborated strongly with our development, operations and other service providers. There was meetings daily (stand up call), weekly and monthly connects. Additionally, Cigniti team published status reports at daily and weekly level. (As One Team)

Upon contract renewal in 2021, Development services are also included in the additional scope. The quality of services in Development projects can be improved to match that of Quality Engineering services.

With the help of End to End APM and PTCoE implementation done by Cigniti team, the following benefits were achieved:

• Zero downtime observed during Year end activities
• Multiple outages were proactively averted through the intelligent notifications and alerting.
• Added hardware to applications which showed spike in user load during the year end activity.
• Performance testing uncovered multiple memory leaks in applications which were rectified before production move.
• We had an end to end insight into any production issue with proper RCA.

Cigniti deployed resources in a hybrid model, where Performance architect and performance test leads were positioned at our offices and backend team worked from Cigniti’s delivery center. The team collaborated strongly with our development teams, Infrastructure team, and other service providers. There was meetings daily, weekly and monthly connects.

We have had some challenges but were always provided timely solutions and amazing project management support.

• Highlighted the actual automation coverage against the projected coverage in reports
• 200+ valid functional defects identified within 4 weeks of starting the engagement which resulted in 80% reduction in UAT issues and some defects resulting in creation of new user stories
• Identified the tool limitations, framework limitation and suggested workarounds, implementation is in progress

• Built a test strategy based on the business scenarios to be tested and understanding of the SAP system to meet the project schedule
• Achieved 100% manual test coverage
• Requirements traceability matrix implementation resulted in reduction of defect slippage by 70%
• 100% accuracy of the reporting system due to implementation of dynamic and live reporting dashboard

Cigniti’s Test Manager was responsible for arranging defect triage calls with our company and the implementation partners, and also shared status reports at daily, monthly and quarterly frequency. In addition, leadership team from both sides participated in the Steering committee meet every quarter.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The quality of their deliverables was very impressive and obviously, Cigniti being an independent testing services company, focus was high on the services.

We were overall satisfied with the engagement and Cigniti exceeded our expectations.
