A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing director at Ramji Law Group, and we’re a personal injury law firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with Captiv Creative?
We wanted to make a commercial, and we needed help with video production.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We got in touch with Captiv Creative, and they asked what I wanted and what kind of vision I had in mind, what I was looking for and what I was looking to achieve. We brainstormed together.
They started filming on the day they said they would. When we had trouble finding the right actors, they reached out to other agencies to find the right cast. Their filming took place exactly how they said it would, and they delivered it on point. Everything was great, from the sound to the lighting.
The video was a 30-second ad featuring actors that we hired for the commercial. It was a good experience, and they delivered it the way we wanted. If we wanted it for social media use or tv, they gave us a link to use — they went above and beyond.
What is the team composition?
There were around five people involved in this video.
How did you come to work with Captiv Creative?
We contacted them through the website, and they reached out to me immediately.
How much have you invested in them?
We've spent about $40,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in October 2020, and the engagement is ongoing — the video was so good that we’re in the middle of developing two more commercials with them right now.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The video looked professional, and it didn’t turn out like a cheap soap opera. They do an outstanding job, and the video is exceptionally crisp — overall, we're happy.
How did Captiv Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
It was perfect all across the board. We usually communicated through phone or email, and there we had in-person meetings — everything was very punctual.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication, equipment, and portfolio were all great. We were impressed when we saw some past work they had done for other companies that hired them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on — what they do, they do it right. I don’t know the ins and outs of their business, but it was a fantastic experience as an outsider.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am an associate broker at a real estate agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Captiv Creative?
We had been sending written mailers to potential customers but weren’t getting responses. Since videos have a much higher conversion rate, we were looking to create a video to capture consumer’s attention.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Captiv Creative produced a video for us. I gave them a general concept and they turned it into an entire script. They also provided designs for me to review and critique. We sent a QR code to consumers that they could scan to watch the video.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Khary (Business Development), a video director, and the production team. Overall, it was probably 12–15 members of their team.
How did you come to work with Captiv Creative?
Captiv Creative had an excellent portfolio of past videos on their website and their response time was really great, so we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested about $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement ran from April–July 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Having something tangible and professional to send out to my clients was incredibly helpful. It’s a good tool to have in my personal library.
The response to the video was excellent. Clients, coworkers, and the company I work for all love the video. My company loved it so much, they ended up paying me back for it.
How did Captiv Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
Captiv Creative has excellent communication skills. If anything, they were pushing me and I was the one delaying the project. They were very prepared.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The level of professionalism displayed by Captiv Creative sets them apart. They have high-tech equipment. The detail in my video is on par with something I would expect to cost far more.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Everything on this project went well. They could offer a repeat customer discount.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be as detailed as you can about what you’re looking for. Their directors are great. And the more detail you give them the more they can finetune it for your industry.

Video Production for Community College

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the creative services manager for Galveston College. We’re a community college based in Galveston, Texas.
What challenge were you trying to address with Captiv Creative?
We needed a video to promote the different enrollment options that we offer. We wanted to feature some of our programs in the video along with the different options.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Captiv Creative produced a video for us. I’m fairly new to video production so they helped me through the process of creating the call sheets, location, and shot list. We gave them an overview of what we needed to do and then hammered out the details of who was going to be involved.
We filmed different programs that we needed. They did shots of students in an actual class with a teacher—socially distanced of course. They filmed students accessing library services, people interacting with our admissions and financial aid staff, and action shots of our EMS team doing EMS scenarios. They also filmed our welding and culinary classes and did a seawall location shot which was pretty cool.
Captiv Creative used a review software called Frame.io which was easy to use. We review the video drafts through Frame.io and collaborate in real-time through this software. They gave us different voice-over talent options. Each talent read our script and chose who was appropriate for our video.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Natasha (Project Manager) and Khary (Business Development) who both acted as our support network at Captiv Creative. We also worked with two photographers, a production assistant, and a director.
How did you come to work with Captiv Creative?
My boss introduced us to Captiv Creative. We’ve worked with them in the past for our fall enrollment video as well as our spring enrollment video.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested just under $6,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with Captiv Creative from October–November 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were happy with the initial engagement we got from the video. We got around 36,000 views within a couple of weeks of putting the video online. There’s been positive feedback from our social media account and we had a few upvotes on YouTube.
How did Captiv Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
Captive Creative’s team was shooting quickly through the schedule I had to reschedule some of the talents to come in earlier because we were ahead of schedule. It gave us a bit more time to spend on other things we did for the day. They actually went to both of our campuses and we were able to do extra campus shots. In terms of follow-ups, they were regularly checking in with us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Captive Creative was easy to work with and very organized. They did a quality job and they were responsive to our inputs. What stands out is their energy and professionalism. They were both happy and excited to work with us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there’s nothing I can think of.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be prepared and know what you want, it makes it easier for Captiv Creative to expand on your ideas.

Please describe your company and your position there.
We are a non-profit that operates the historic museum ship, Battleship Texas. Battleship Texas is a United States Battleship that served in World War I and World War II. I am the Vice President of Visitation and Special Events.
For what projects/services did your company hire Captiv Creative?
With the passage of SB 1511, the Battleship Texas Foundation took over operations of the Battleship Texas, a historic naval ship. The ship has been at San Jacinto Battleground since 1948 and will be repaired and then moved to a new home.
The Foundation was given $35 million from the state of Texas to fix the hull of the ship. We hired Captiv to film the process of getting the ship ready for the repairs, the repair process, and getting to the new home.
What were your goals for this project?
To document the process of the repairs of the ship. We also want to increase the public awareness of the ship and hopefully raise some more funds.
How did you select Captiv Creative?
We selected Captiv after they contacted us about filming other projects. We were impressed with the previous projects they have done and decided we would like them to film this documentary. We got quotes from Captiv and one other company. We were impressed with the flexibility and value. Our board members made the final decision.
Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.
Our end goal is to have a documentary about the process of repairing Battleship Texas and bringing her to a new homeport. This includes a lot of filming the repair processes, interviews, and the ship itself. We would like the film to show the importance of the ship and why we are saving her as well as how we did so.
Captiv has come up with a great strategy for achieving this. Our project is still ongoing, but we have been very happy with the items we have reviewed. We have contributed historic footage of the ship and our experts have been interviewed.
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
We have had many great people from Captiv working on the project. Depending on what repair process we were filming, we had as many as 8 people on site. They have worked with us and made sure we got what shots we were after. Our pre-production meetings have been great about making sure everyone is on the same page.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are still in the process of getting the footage for this project. The ship is still getting ready to be taken to the repair facility. We have received several rounds of footage and we are very impressed with the shots of the repairs and it was exactly what we looking for.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The communication with Captiv has been great. Our contact is always reachable and has been very flexible considering the changing schedules of the project.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We were impressed with the flexibility and enthusiasm of our project that they showed. They had unique solutions to some of our challenges.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None that I can think of at the moment.

Video Production Services for Airport System
“We were very happy. Their team is very professional and organized.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior staff analyst at the Houston Airport System.
What challenge were you trying to address with Captiv Creative?
The project was focused on employee engagement and a celebration of our organization’s achievement through Skytrax. Skytrax is a rating that was established for airports. We received an award and wanted to do a video to commemorate it.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We began working on the concept of the video after I presented the ideas to them. They created a treatment discussing different ideas. I talked about the different locations we had. Their team came and did a walkthrough to scout different areas they liked. Then, we built a setlist based on those visits. We scheduled the production based on the locations. We made a schedule and strived to make it flow so the time could be used effectively.
They came here and took care of the different setlists. Then, we worked and went to the other locations and they did the same thing. After completing the project with the video portion, they did all the editing and provided us with a draft. We gave them feedback on the captured content and selected the music. They built the project, and then we approved it.
We use the videos on social media and within our internal communications website so our employees can see them. This was through our website and the display screens throughout our campus. The video was also showcased at our State of the Airport event.
What is the team composition?
We worked with five individuals.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested about $15,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project was from June–July 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our employee engagement has improved despite the pandemic and our campus having fewer employees than it usually would. I can’t solely attribute that to the video, but the video was helpful. Everyone loved the video and was excited. It was received very well at the State of the Airport.
It was hard to do this production because we had a vision for the project and then half of our employees had to start working from home and haven’t been back. We had to rework the plan to capture the employees that were at the building. Captiv Creative was flexible in helping us do that. The video was intended for internal use but it was so good that we decided to take it to the State of the Airport; that really speaks to its excellent quality.
How did Captiv Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
We used Google Sheets. We communicated virtually to discuss, plan, and strategize in order to minimize the contact between teams. Their crew came on and everyone followed COVID-19 safety guidelines.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their affordability really distinguished them. They made the project work and the results were high quality. We were very happy. Their team is very professional and organized. Captiv Creative worked efficiently. They captured footage at six locations in 2–3 days. Their team was mobile and had everything organized so it all flowed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, nothing comes to mind. I hope to bring them back for another project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Bring your ideas to the table and see if they’re able to work with them; more than likely, they will.

Video Production for E-Commerce Listing Company

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of content production for an online e-commerce retailer.
What challenge were you trying to address with Captiv Creative?
We hired Captiv Creative to produce content for our e-commerce listings.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Captiv Creative has done quite a few different types of projects, from photography to video shoots. The most recent project that they did for us featured a line of coffee products that we sell. They delivered 1080p video files with and without text.
It’s a collaborative process. Typically, we go to them with a product, and they handle the pre-production forward. Once they present us with a few options, we’ll make the adjustments and have them run with it.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with several people. Natasha (Account Coordinator) heads our business development end, there’s a lead photographer, and finally, we have a third point of contact.
How did you come to work with Captiv Creative?
They’ve been our production partners since before I started my position with my company. When I took over, I reviewed the work that had been done along with their portfolio. It was clear that they did exceptional work. They had technical abilities that were hard to find (e.g., robotic bolt arm, red camera), and their review process was awesome.
How much have you invested with them?
Their rates are reasonable. Based on my experience, the cost is pretty standard across the industry. We’re happy with what we spend with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been using Captiv Creative for over a year and a half, now. The most recent project lasted from July–September 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
All of the projects have been absolutely amazing. It’s hard to track the impact of their work due to the nature of our business. We go through a layer of optimization on multiple creative elements before going live with the content.
However, I can say that we’ve been blown away by their work. Everyone in our creative department has been impressed by the quality of the videos, and we’ve had major success with their content. We’ll definitely continue working with them in the future.
How did Captiv Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
The project management is great. Our main communication line is over email. We use Frame.io to review video assets, and they’re responsive in terms of implementing edit requests.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed by their creativity, attention to detail, and expertise on the video side of things. They’re always professional and do great work.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we’re more than happy with what they’ve done so far. They’re really nice, responsive people to work with.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Do it, and you’ll be very happy with what they do for you.

Video & Animation Production for Electronics Manufacturer
"I’ve seen them invest in both their equipment and crew. They use the right resources and it improves their product."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the marketing director of Alco Electronics. We’re an electronics manufacturer based in Hong Kong. We have several in-house brands, as well as licensed brands that we use to distribute products worldwide.
What challenge were you trying to address with Captiv Creative?
We needed a point of sale creative and online digital media creative. This could include lifestyle photography, video, 3D animation, and things like that to help us tell the story of our products. We needed Captiv Creative to bring a fresh, vibrant understanding of what our consumers were looking for. They answered the call.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’ve done 3D animation for the laptops and tablets we produce. There’s also a lifestyle part of these products where we make a video showing how these products are integrated into daily life. The creative is done at the point of sale, as well as social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
They ran a very collaborative process, which is how we wanted it to be from the beginning. I’ll start by bringing them a product and naming the demographic we’re targeting and the specifications. It’s up to Captiv then to come up with the setting and casting of the creative. They have complete control. There may be some iterations after that, which we manage using a commenting tool. Most of our suggestions are minor, like moving text around. They run with the little we give them.
Finally, they’ve offered some consulting at no charge in looking at our product portfolio. They’re not an ad-hoc, case-by-case company. For us, they’ve been able to look at our whole environment and brainstorm what we should do on a product basis. They help us get the best return on our spend.
What is the team composition?
Indirectly, we worked with 5-6 people, including some of their creative staff. I’m engaged with some more than others, and there’s an account manager that I primarily deal with. This makes it more intimate. Over the years I’ve worked with them, they’ve come to understand our business, which makes these product iterations smooth.
How did you come to work with Captiv Creative?
I was looking for a local creative agency in Houston. Captiv was well-reviewed, and, upon visiting their website, I saw that their vision and tools were unique. I dealt with Sam and Justin (Owners) directly, at the beginning, which helped me feel like they understood our businesses.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $120,000 with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with them since April 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We look at a lot of the engagement statistics from their videos, and they’ve been effective. Additionally, for the videos used at the point of sale, we can see compelling engagement over time. We know that metric is contributing to our sales.
Additionally, we won an innovation award for one of the laptops that Captiv Creativ worked on, and I wholeheartedly believe that we won because of the video Captiv made. They really told the story effectively.
How did Captiv Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re right on point. I’ve worked with them for over two years and they’ve met every deadline. We move fast as a manufacturer, and they’ll flat out tell me if they can’t meet a deadline, and they haven’t had to do that.
They’re very intuitive and easy to work with. My account manager is friendly and knowledgeable, and they’re all just very passionate people. You don’t feel like they’re just trying to crank out products. I consider them friends, at this point.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s hard to say one thing, but something that’s critical is that they reinvest in their service. Over the last few years, I’ve seen them invest in both their equipment and crew. They use the right resources and it only makes their products better.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think they’ve done well.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you’re looking for a local agency, this is the agency you want to invest your time in. They’re knowledgeable about the product, and it’s a flat company. There are too many rungs. When you’re sitting down with someone from their team, you’re sitting down with a creative, rather than account person that’s very far from the product. They understand what you need.
