Please describe your company and your position there.

Schier Products manufactures grease interceptors for restaurants and commercial kitchens. I'm a product owner.

For what projects/services did your company hire Built Well Studio?

We work with them on formal projects and informal consulting. They built Grease Monkey, a web app where engineers enter project details to find the correct grease interceptor and obtain the necessary paperwork.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

Grease Monkey is a responsive app built in Angular and PHP. Its user permissions achieve the desired workflow of projects and business intelligence.

Built Well Studio helped us design, architect, and build the application. We provided subject matter expertise and documentation for the features and functional requirements. As we continue to build the application, they serve as a development partner and trusted advisor.

What was the team composition?

During the project lifecycle, their team includes up to five people: a strategist, a developer, a product manager, a designer, and a QA analyst. This roster fluctuates depending on the features we're building. I facilitate by grooming features, providing documentation, and serving as the point of contact.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We've marshalled our marketing efforts to pitch Grease Monkey to engineers. Business intelligence shows that the application drives sales effectively. The app has a large impact on our business.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Our development runs in monthly cycles with consistent email, phone, in-person, and Slack check-ins. We collaborate on Quip to estimate and track progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

There are often many ways to solve a problem. Built Well Studio has the persistence to find the right solution. They take the necessary time and explore all available options.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

They can improve very little. I would recommend that potential clients crystallize the problem with their internal stakeholders, rather than simply stating what they need to build. That unlocks talent within the company.
